** Who the fuck is Jimmy Fallon? [[/folder]]

* Every ninja village that isn't the Leaf, Sound, or Sand is like this in ''{{Naruto}}''. Rain may become more important since [[spoiler:Pain took over]] and later [[spoiler:Konan, the de facto leader, pulled a HeelFaceTurn in response to Nagato's [[RedemptionEqualsDeath last-minute redemption]]]]. Likewise, the Cloud village has had several characters introduced recently and it's leader [[spoiler:decided to call a meeting of the Kages]], which can mean a lot for the villages in general.

* {{Avatar The Last Airbender}} had [[{{The Empire}}The Fire Nation ]] playing the {{Big Bad}} and [[{{NobleSavage}} The Water Tribe]] and [[{{HiddenElfVillage}} The Air Nomads]] both [[{{PlanetOfHats}} more or less affixed to their own hats,]] the Earth Kingdom had to act as a convenient catch-all for miscellaneous fantasy / adventure archetypes, RedShirt, MauveShirt, or otherwise.

** Best example: We have ''all'' [[RedShirt the squad members below the rank of lieutenant]] (with some named exceptions). Their only purpose is to be slaughtered by a new FillerVillain to show that he means business.

* By the end of Dragonball GT, it is implied that Piccolo has become this. He is no longer anywhere near as strong as most of the main cast (especially Goku, Gohan, Majuub and Vegeta), but is still extremely powerful by most standards. In his final appearance, Goku visits him in Hell (he's only there because it was the only way that Goku could escape his imprisonment), where he has just taught some thugs a lesson, and is apparently something of a one-Namek cavalry for the staff of Hell, who aren't equipped to handle the more powerful people down there (read: EVERYONE that the Z fighters sent down there).

* Is not uncommon for many people to forget that, in ''StarCraft'', there are other Terran factions aside from the (now defunct) Terran Confederacy, the Terran Dominion, The UED(same as the confederacy) and the Raynor's Rayders, such as the Kel-Morian Combine and the Umojan Protectorate. These two factions have been there since the beginning of the first game, but were barely touched, and did nothing relevant during the course of the story.

** Based on Rukia's descriptions, the 13th squad seems to be the opposite of the 11th, focusing primarily on [[FunctionalMagic Kido]]-based combat.

* ''{{Bleach}}'' has this with many of the Shinigami divisions: 2 is the stealth and assassin squad, 4 is the medic and janitor squad, 11 is [[BloodKnight physical combat specialists]] and 12 is scientific research, but the other nine divisions have no known specialties as of late, and there are relatively few members that have been introduced.

** There's also Orvada, supposedly a powerful merchant empire that rivals Benalia, but never mentioned on any cards or in any post-revision novels. Yeah, Magic is full of Hufflepuff Houses, along with WhatsASecretFour.

Named for the group in ''HarryPotter''. See also WhatsASecretFour? When a background character/group actually does have impact in the background, they are a HeroOfAnotherStory. When this faction becomes [[PlayerCharacter playable]] along with [[CCGImportanceDissonance a bunch of new material]], expect SailorEarth to make an appearance.

** Moreover [[ThemeNaming Third World originates from Third Estate]], as opposed to nobility and clergy which were named First Estate and Second Estate.

* Similar to ''CodeGeass'', ''{{Gundam 00}}'' has the AEU. While the two other world powers (the Union and HRL) have important characters who act as TheRival to the Gundam pilots and contribute to the plot, the AEU's only real contribution for the first part of the series is Patrick Colasour, a TedBaxter EnsembleDarkhorse. The only time the AEU's HumongousMecha come off as any kind of threat is when they're piloted by BloodKnight Ali al-Saachez. Even considering how dangerous Ali al-saachez is, being the archenemy of at least two Gundam Meisters, it doesn't improve the AEU's standing beyond being good at buying mercenaries. Slightly mitigated later in the first season with the introduction of the competent, take-no-crap Katie Mannequin, but overall the AEU is still the weakest and least important of the show's factions.

** The 1st squad seems to be the administration, since except for commander Yamamoto and his vice-captain (who wears different clothes than the other vice-captains) not one shinigami of the 1st squad was ever seen or mentioned (iirc).
** There is also the "Kido-squad". Their {{mook}}s were used several times to control something big (like a trans-dimensional {{wave motion gun}}), but they only got captain and leutenant in a flashback to hundred years ago. At the end of that flashback they both went out of service and no replacements were shown, unlike all the othes squads that lost members at that time.
** And the generally fitting trope we have ''all'' [[RedShirt the squad members below the rank of lieutenant]] (with few exception). They only purpose is to be slaughtered by a new FillerVillain to show that he means business.

** Considering that one of the Sorting Hat songs quite literally describes the values of the houses as "bravery," "ambition," "intelligence," and "other"...
*** This is only in ''Order of the Phoenix''. It had been previously established that Hufflepuff's virtues are loyalty and hard work. Problem is, these are very ''good'' virtues, but don't generally make for spectacular and memorable characters.

You can't have them be [[OvershadowedByAwesome too powerful]], though, or too [[HiddenElfVillage relevant]], lest they get in the heroes' limelight. This is Hufflepuff House, an organizational equivalent to the MauveShirt or RedshirtArmy. They help round out the setting without actually impacting much on it, save perhaps as TheCavalry.

* ''{{Stargate SG-1}}'' "There were once an alliance of four great races, the Asgard, the Nox, the Furlings, and the Ancients." The Asgard and the Ancients are important races in stargate mythology who turn up often. The Nox made a couple of appearances in the early series but the Furlings never turned up apart from a short gag in episode 200. [[WordOfGod According to the writers]] the Furlings only ever existed because they wanted four races, So Yeah.

* The "Special Abilities" class in ''GakuenAlice'' is something like this, but it's also the class that the main heroine belongs to.

* All of the political parties in the US besides Republican, Democratic, and whatever third party has the current media favorite loony.
