* Radio/BleakExpectations: In an argument with her sister in-law Pippa, Ripely tries citing a passage of the Bible which claims "he or she or it that calleth another man or woman or thing ridiculous calleth the Lord himself ridiculous (especially Pippa)." She claims it comes from the Book of Badgers (also, "umm"). She later cites another passage from the Bible which says "kick them, kick the stupid poor! And they also smell bad." Quite odd given Ripely was raised in Victorian England by a C.O.E. minister, but she's trying to justify abusing the downtrodden of Victorian London.

* Series/GilmoreGirls: Invoked in "Say Goodnight, Gracie." Dave, Lane's LoveInterest in season 3, is trying to convince her very strict mother to let them date. Mrs. Kim cryptically quotes "Let never day nor night unhallow'd pass, But still remember what the Lord hath done." Since Mrs. Kim is devoutly religious, Lane and Dave assume it's a Bible quote, and he spends the night reading the whole thing to try and figure out what she means by it. He comes up empty, only for Mrs. Kim to tell him it's not from the Bible--it's Creator/WilliamShakespeare (specifically from Henry VI). While we never do find out how the quote relates to the issue at hand, Dave reading the entire Bible in one night impresses Mrs. Kim enough to allow him to date her daughter.

-->"Moses was right. He that...he that abideth in truth will have frankincense and myrrh smeared on his gums in abundance, and he shall dwell in the house of the Lord for six months, with an option to buy. But the wicked man...the wicked man shall have all kinds of problems. His tongue shall cleave to the roof of his upper palate, and he shall speak like a woman, if you watch him closely. And he shall...he shall...the wicked man shall be delivered into the hands of his enemy, whether they can pay the delivery charge or not. And...wait, I have more about the wicked man. I shall walk through the valley of the shadow of death...In fact, now that I think of it, I shall run through the valley of the shadow of death, 'cause you get out of the valley quicker that way. And he that hath clean hands and a pure heart is okay in my book. But he that fools around with barnyard animals has gotta be watched."

Finding the entire text grants some potent benefits without the madness, but is considered to be ThatOneAchievement for very good reason.

* The King James Bible itself is kind of guilty of this - the style of English it used was already antiquated at the time it was written, it was just written that way to sound clever. The revision of the Douay-Rheims Bible by Richard Challoner is even more anachronistic by comparison -- intentionally imitating the King James a good century and a half later -- though this was actually considered an improvement over the wooden, overly-Latinate first edition.
* Brazilian Preacher Josue Yrion is infamous because of this. One of These is: "The Bible says that the child fell into the fire, and fell into the water, the disciples could not cast out the demon. And when Jesus came, he asked the boy's father "How long has he been like this?" Since he was a child, He replied, and the Bible gives that the name: epileptic seizure"
