* In the semi-fictionalized stories about the childhood of Creator/PatrickMcManus, [[MeaningfulName Rancid]] Crabtree is a MountainMan who's noted for absolutely hating baths and refusing to take them except on leap years "because he had this theory that a mixture of soap and hot water would eat holes in a man's protective crust." Pat notes that hanging around Rancid taught him how to know the difference between up-wind and down-wind.

* In one of the early strips of ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}'', Charlie Brown tries to stall taking a bath using tactics that would later be imitated by Calvin. However, this aspect to his character never got the same level of attention as Calvin got, it being awkward when no adult can appear or speak to force the issue, and was eventually forgotten. Presumably he grew out of it.

* ''WebVideo/CreamHeroes'' shows some of the cats ''really'' hate baths. The most notable offenders are TT, Lala and Dodo, who are notorious for their loud, shrill meows while Claire bathes them. In Dodo's case, it was a practice bath, where he only got a little wet, but his meows were so loud and pitiful, both TT and Lala felt sorry for him and waited outside the bathroom to see if he was alright.

This trope was a bit harsher in RealLife before roughly 1950s-60s when the modern bath soaps were invented. Before bubble baths and scented soap, they involved hard gray soap that didn't lather and rigorous scrubbing with a bristle brush. As well, if you go further back, baths were done sitting a small tin tub, which is a functional cleaning process that is less relaxing than lying down in a modern full-length tub.

* The 1996 incarnation of [[ComicStrip/DennisTheMenaceUK Dennis the Menace]] entitled ''Dennis and Gnasher'' had a whole episode about him avoiding bathnight and even building a secret escape tunnel from his treehouse to get out of it.

* ''WesternAnimation/TazMania'': A running theme is "TAZ HATE WATER!!!!" This applied to any thing that involved getting wet. Baths just made it ten times worse.

* As has been mentioned in the comic section Dennis of ''ComicStrip/DennisTheMenaceUK'' hates bathing, but the 1996 animated adaptation took this to the extreme. In one episode "Bathnight Club" it is revealed the Ministry of Defense wants to keep him from bathing as his smelly socks are an effective biological weapon, however when the rest of the world declares world peace to avoid said weapon it becomes a military exercise to get him to bathe. Eventually [[spoiler:the Queen sends him a large swimming pool waterslide bath which he is actually happy to embrace]]. In another episode it is revealed the dirty bath water he does leave behind on the occasions he does bathe is easily confused for ''crude oil''!

* ''Literature/TheWayThingsWork'': Mammoths tend to view bathing as an annoying interruption and a needless indignity. When explaining friction, a dirty mammoth resists being bathed simply by sitting still, because its tremendous weight means it is able to resist all but the most determined efforts to get the beast near the tub.
