->For the novel, [[Literature/{{Fatherland}} go here]]. For the film, [[Film/{{Fatherland}} go here]].

Very similar to {{Prussia}}, except that this is not an outrageously stereotyped portrayal of ImperialGermany, but an Ersatz-Kaiserreich with ''any'' degree of accuracy and outrageousness. Tell-tale signs include:

* [[NiceHat Pickelhauben.]]
* [[AristocratsAreEvil Arrogant aristocrats]], [[GoodScarsEvilScars duelling scars]] and [[HighClassGlass monocles]] optional.
* [[TruthInTelevision The military is all-pervasive.]]
* GratuitousGerman. Or something that sounds like it. Or something that [[AsLongAsItSoundsForeign some people think sounds like it.]]
* [[AnachronismStew Confusion as to whether this is the Kaiserreich or the Nazis.]]
* [[SteamPunk Vaguely WWI-ish technology, especially ugly box-shaped tanks, U-Boats, and, of course,]] [[ZeppelinsFromAnotherWorld zeppelins.]]
* Great big black eagles and Iron Crosses everywhere, or an obvious stand-in for them.

Of course, there might be an example which is a well-done historical allegory full of accurate representations of the Imperial period, but hey, [[TheyJustDidntCare why bother?]]

Compare GloriousMotherRussia for similar parent-country symbolism.

!!Examples

[[AC:{{Anime}} and {{Manga}}]]
* The Royal Empire in ''PumpkinScissors''.
* The nation of Amestris in ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''. With the added bonus that it was [[spoiler:created as part of a plan by someone referred as "Father", making it a literal Fatherland]].
* One of the sides in ''LegendOfTheGalacticHeroes'' is essentially Fatherland RecycledInSpace.
* The SteamPunk city on the ''Cannon Fodder'' segment of the ''{{Memories}}'' anthology resembles this. Bonuspoints for the SS-like runes popping up here and there

[[AC:{{Comic Books}}]]
* Bretzelburg in ''ComicBook/SpirouAndFantasio'' is a [[{{Ruritania}} Ruritanian]] country with conspicuous Fatherland trappings. The soldiers wear Picklehaube helmets and much of the rest is straight out of Nazi Germany.
* Ancient Germania in ''[[{{Asterix}} Asterix and the Goths]]'' fits this trope, featuring elements of ImperialGermany (e.g. Pickelhauben), NaziGermany (e.g. a [[NoSwastikas red flag with a black eagle in a white circle]]), and even (at the time of the comic's creation) ''contemporary'' Germany (Visigoths and Ostrogoths as stand-ins for WestGermany and EastGermany respectively). Oh yeah, and to make the AnachronismStew complete, the story of course takes place in [[AncientRome 50 BC]], like in all Asterix comics.

[[AC:{{Video Games}}]]
* The Badds in ''VideoGame/BionicCommando''.
* The Rahmos Empire from ''IronGrip'', though it is a FantasyCounterpartCulture and overlaps a bit with TsaristRussia and RedsWithRockets in some of its esthetics. Ironically, their arch-enemies, the Fahrongi, have the occasional pickelhaube-wearing soldier, while Rahmosians have none.

[[AC:Magazines]]
* As the storm clouds gathered over Europe and the Far East, PulpMagazine hero ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operator_No._5 Secret Service Operator #5]]'' (1934 - 1939) fought attempts by various foreign armies to conquer the United States, including the Purple Empire which was every inch this trope.
