Usually a FusionDance is between two or more people who often don't have any connections other than [[RomanticFusion romance]] or [[SiblingFusion a familial relationship]]. However, there are instances where characters who are technically the same person merge together. This can involve clones, [[AlternateSelf alternate universe selves]], different variations from other timelines, or even someone who has been transformed into a doppelganger of another person.

* ''WebVideo/HalfLifeButTheAIIsSelfAware'': [[MadScientist Dr. Coomer]] has many clones littering Black Mesa [[ThereCanOnlyBeOne that he kills on sight]]. While it initially appears to be simple bloodlust [[AxCrazy given his, and the rest of the science team, having a track record of random murders regardless]], he quickly reveals that he gains power for every clone dead, with the implication that his power was split amongst them. [[spoiler:He's willing to command and work with his clones instead of just killing them all if he has to, though, as shown when he ambushes Gordon and Tommy with an army of them.]]

* ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' uses this as part of its AmbiguousEnding. [[spoiler: Asch dies in the final dungeon, and his Replica Luke performs a HeroicSacrifice after the final boss. After the credits, a figure resembling and sounding like Luke approaches the party and says he's here to fulfil his promise, implying the original and his replica merged. What's ambiguous is whether his mind is Luke's, Asch's, or a merger of the two.]]

** [[spoiler: G'raha Tia]] on the First doesn't have long to live due to his body being linked with the Crystal Tower, which slowly crystalizes him as he uses its power. Before he fully crystalizes, he lets the Warrior of Light use a soul vessel on him to transport his soul to the Source so that his soul can open the Source's Crystal Tower and merge his soul with his original's counterpart. This results in him having the knowledge he gained from the BadFuture and his time on the First while retaining the personality and youthfulness of his younger version from the Source. After the merge, he states that he would have expected some sort of major change to his body or personality, but feels more or less the same.

** ''ComicBook/Champions2016'': A complicated series of events leads to the presence of two Vivians -- one, the original, who was stranded on an alien world and transformed from an android into an organic being, and a second who was built by their father before the first one returned to Earth. In the end, the new Vivian is rendered catatonic after being infected by a computer virus, and the original one ends up transferring her consciousness into her duplicate's body.
