"DeathWish" is a series of movies starring CharlesBronson as architect-gone-vigilante Paul Kersey. After his family gets killed in the beginning of the first movie the TechnicalPacifist and conscientious objector Kersey becomes a {{badass}} {{vigilante}} thanks to the gun training he enjoyed as a kid, because his father was a gun nut. After receiving a gun as a gift from a Arizonan client, who happens to be a gun nut, all hell breaks loose. The cops find out who the mysterious vigilante is, but instead of arresting him on sight, they decide to let him run, in order to not let the media turn him into a hero/martyr. The four sequels follow the same pattern, except for the murdered family of course.

The original film was denounced by critics as advocating vigilantism and unlimited punishment to criminals, but it was seen as echoing a growing mood in the United States as crime rose during the 1970s.
