Tales of Aquila is a dystopian web novel series by Chris Fleming about two groups of academy students (so far), one from the Ilian capital, Cairo, and the other from the Aquila Disciplinary Academy in Aquila, Greece. Each main character is capable of using a form of combat known as Nuclear Energy Manipulation, which grants them the ability to manipulate atoms. In general, they have one objective: take down [[TheEmpire the evil empire]] of Altea.

* BadDreams: It's already happened to Max and Roy, except the latter can't remember his.

* SchroedingersCat: Max uses it to justify why she doesn't have to answer the psychiatrist's question of whether a glass was half-empty or half-full. Surprisingly, it works.

* ProperlyParanoid: Although not entirely neurotic about hers, Tigrys is definitely a perfect example.

* InterGenerationalFriendship: Liana and Joan share this relationship, as they share a pretty close relationship.

Tales of Aquila is a dystopian web novel series by Chris Fleming about two groups of academy students (so far), one from the Ilian capital, Cairo, and the other from the Aquila Disciplinary Academy in Aquila, Greece. Each student has their own goal that's connected to the main series, although some are relatively unclear. In general, they have one objective: take down [[TheEmpire the evil empire]] of Altea.

Each arc follows a fnew set of main characters, with the first arc following Chase, Kira, Max, Riyas, and Axl (the last two received relatively short appearances in the form of a prologue); and the second arc follows Team SODA, or the Special Operations Division of Aquila. This includes Artesia, Roy, Liana, John, Gary, Tigrys, and Ariadne.

The main skill is a form of combat known as Nuclear Energy Manipulation, which allows some people to manipulate atoms. New atoms, called Arion Atoms, came from their tiny counterparts, growing to the point of being visible to the naked eye. This has different uses, ranging from the everyday medical uses, to ranged attacks and the creation of weapons.

* AcademyOfAdventure: It's frequent that teachers will send their students on quests, [[spoiler: as was the case with Chase, Armand, and Arith.]]
* ActionGirl: Pretty much every girl in the series qualifies as one.
* AllMythsAreTrue: Subverted. All the Greek heroes and gods were exaggerated, overpowered personas of their true, mortal selves.

** Don't forget the fact that a [[WorldWarIII Nuclear Winter-sized war]] not only did NOT end the world, but ENCOURAGED the creation of a dystopia.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Downplayed. Although Artesia's the leader, Tigrys has seen much more fighting, as explained in the team bio. Now, the question is WHY, exactly...
* BadassCrew: Both groups, ESPECIALLY Aquila.

* BloodKnight: According to her bio, Artesia's a perfect example of this. In fact, she doesn't even kill her victims, as shown in "Resonance: The Promise 04".

* ChekhovsGunman: Remember how Joan subtly reminds Liana that three people went missing two years ago? Guess who.

* ConvenientComa: Roy, oh, SO much, especially when one considers what he last remembered BEFORE conking out.
** LaserGuidedAmnesia
* CoolBigSis: Eris to Roy. She CAN be a little on the [[DeadpanSnarker snarky side at times.]]

* DreamSequence: [[spoiler: The ENTIRE first half of "Alchemist of Borin".]]
* FreakOut: Kira has one of these. [[spoiler: Granted, it was in Max's dream.]]
* InterGenerationalFriendship: Liana and Joan share this relationship, although it's more of an Inter Generational Internship rather than a friendship. Still, they're pretty close.
* HumongousMecha: The Titans and Gladiators. Well, MOST of the Gladiators.
* MeaningfulName:
** Ariadne's named after the namesake of Ariadne's String; she uses [[RazorFloss razor wire]] as a method of attack.
** Liana's name means "to twine around". This perhaps has something to do with her role in the story.
* TheMedic: Liana's the nurse's apprentice.
* NeverGetsDrunk: Professor Altessa drinks tons, but only gets a teensy bit tipsyy. For, like, two minutes at MOST.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Roy's dead sister, Eris, remains behind because she feels that [[ThePowerofLove he still needs guidance before she can leave without him.]]
* PastLifeMemories: Roy has the memories of all his ancestors, making him a master swordsman.
** Speaking of which, there's something a bit off about Liana...
** Joan is also worth mentioning, though for reasons currently unknown. It IS pretty obvious, though, when Liana asks her a particular question in "Resonance: The Promise 03" [[http://tales-of-aquila.blogspot.com/2013/05/resonance-promise-03.html?m=1 here]]

* WretchedHive: Subverted. The Aquila Disciplinary Academy's students are all criminals, serving a sentence that is an alternative to actual prison. But, problems rarely arise from this congregation.
