* CanonWelding: Due to time travel creating alternate and parallel timelines (and it's essentially confirmed that Ozma's adventures are not the first time Tempus got into time travel shennanigans), this book not only explains all the {{Continuity Snarl}}s of the Oz books but essentially establishes every single adaptation and different take on Oz as existing within the same [[TheMultiverse multiverse]], just in different timelines. When Ozma glimpses a lot of different timelines she briefly spots the world of [[Film/TheWizardOfOz the MGM musical]], the [[Film/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz1910 black and white movies]], an AnimatedAdaptation, and others.

* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Ozma has always rarely been able to participate in adventures; only in a couple of Baum's books was she a main character. But in this book it's up to her to save Oz.

* CharacterDevelopment: Ozma goes through a bit. She starts out confused and overwhelmed by Tempus and all the time shenanigans, but grows more savvy as the story goes on. At the end of it, she discovers she's now as confusing to her non-time traveling friends as Tempus was to her in the beginning.
