** At the beginning of the Arrancar Arc, Grimmjow points out it's a mistake to let Ichigo live. He's right.

* Shouta Aizawa from ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' is a rough SinkOrSwimMentor, who regularly criticizes his students, and has expelled entire classes for not meeting his high standards. Which makes him come off as a callous jerk. However as heroes in training his students are expected to face danger on a regular basis. With not just their own lives, but the lives of others on the line. It would be cruel and irresponsible of him ''not'' to fail someone who lacks the potential. Better to crush their dreams outright rather then let them get their hopes up, or allow someone unqualified pass when it could lead to them or others being hurt or killed as a result. Furthermore, he is willing to stick up for his students and offer advice while not afraid to show some pride in them.

** He derides Midoriya during the Quirk apprehension test and threatens to expel him for this reason. While mean, he's completely in the right to question how he expects to become a hero when he [[AwesomeButImpractical injures himself just using his Quirk]] and would need his teammates to save him in battle, making him a liability. Thus, when Deku manages to find a way around this (just focusing him on the finger), Aizawa actually smiles, stunned at how he was able to come up with a clever solution.

** Even Bakugou himself gets one. During the School Festival arc, he notices the resentment the general students have toward the Hero class and he bluntly points out that they cannot just walk on eggshells for something that they (the hero class) have no control over, pointing out that the other students don't deserve Class 1-A's courtesy when they fail to appreciate how traumatic it was for the class to get attacked by villains.

** Galliard snidely tells [[spoiler: Reiner]] if he was the one to inherit [[spoiler: the Armored Titan]] instead of the latter, their mission to [[spoiler: the Paradis island]] would have been more successful and even asked the latter if they had accomplished anything at all or if they needed to be saved all the time. While this was a horrible thing to say to someone who is suffering from PTSD, it was hard to deny that [[spoiler: Reiner]] did have to be constantly saved by others, such as [[spoiler: Marcel pushing Reiner away from being eaten by Ymir, Bertolt transforming over Reiner and Eren so they could capture Eren, Ymir saving him and Bertolt from Titans, Zeke and Pieck rescuing him in the battle of Shiganshima]]. Though it's debatable whether Galliard would have done any better if he was sent instead.

** [[GoodIsNotNice While he's typically the hero]], Muhyo sends the spirit of Fujiwara to the equivalent of purgatory, saying that his loss against a rain dog was proof of "ineptitude or negligence, neither of which earns (Muhyo's) sympathy". Roji, despite being typically idealistic and kind-hearted, doesn't question this but does question why Muhyo is performing so many sentencings and using up his tempering even before facing [[ArcVillain Sophie]].

On the surface, it's easy to write off his beliefs[[note]]that a hero must be motivated purely by a selfless desire to help people and that anyone who strays from that definition in even the slightest is a fake who must be killed[[/note]] as those of a crazed fundamentalist (heck, he ''crippled'' Iida's brother despite being a kind, hard-woring and compassionate hero, just because he saw his heroic duties as part of the family business rather than true alturism.)) However, coming right after an arc which put a massive focus on Todoroki and his father (Endevour, the number two hero) who is revealed to be a horribly abusive father and husband who only cares about his own personal advancement, even characters like [[{{Protagonist}} Midorya]] admit that Stain's assertions that the Hero System has serious flaws carry weight.

** Kumagawa does it again in Chapter 174. [[spoiler: While erasing Zenkichi from existence was quite extreme, it manages to force Shiranui to admit her true feelings rather than continuing her JerkassFacade.]]

* ''Manga/AngelSanctuary'': Setsuna and Sara's mother. She's ignorant and distant to her son, overprotective of her daughter, and goes to extreme lengths to keep the two separated. [[JustifiedTrope Rightfully so]], as the two of them have [[BrotherSisterIncest incestuous feelings]] for each other. No matter how cruel she may appear in keeping her children apart, she has good reason to do so.

** Hitoshi Shinsou is a manipulative and resentful student from the general course classes at U.A. who uses his Brainwashing quirk on others and even his teammates during the Sports Festival. His claims of there being a bias towards combat quirks which makes it harder for WeakButSkilled students like himself to be recognized still holds water though. With Aizawa agreeing that the entrance exam is unfair, and several Pro Heroes acknowledging his potential as a hero. He does TakeALevelInKindness after his fight with Deku (whom Deku won without using his Quirk).

** At the end of Sailor Moon S, Haruka and Michiru angrily call out Usagi on her handling of Pharoah 90. They say that while it is true the world was saved, Usagi acted rashly due to her idealism of wanting to save everyone, pointing out that it's selfish. Because of it, Usagi nearly doomed the whole world. Haruka and Michiru also point out that it was only dumb luck that things worked out in the end since Usagi had no idea how things would've went. They drive it further home saying someone with such flawed idealism has no right to be named a future ruler as they view that kind of person as irresponsible.

* In ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'', during the Mother's Rosario arc, Asuna's mother, Kyouko Yuuki, is trying to make her transfer out of the Sword Art Online Survivors' School, as well as accept an ArrangedMarriage (or failing that, marry someone who ''isn't'' from her current school- i.e. Kirito). Kyouko describes the SAO Survivors' School as little more than a correctional facility, since its lenient terms for admission seem too good to be true, and serve to let the government monitor the survivors for potentially antisocial behavior. Her point echoes one that Kirito made while talking to Suguha back in the Alfheim arc, and Asuna can't articulate a rebuttal to it, although she likes the school well enough to not want to leave.

** Orochimaru was the one who gave Tsunade the idea of starting a unit of medical ninjas to minimize battlefield casualties, though that was way before he turned to full-blown villainy. He was a recognized hero of Konoha, pegged to be the next Hokage and genuinely her friend at the time. Though he never ''was'' nice, even then, so the trope still applies.

*** At the end of the Future Trunks Saga, he coldly tells Gowasu to choose his apprentices more carefully in the future. Considering the fact that Gowasu proved to be a HorribleJudgeOfCharacter in regards to [[ANaziByAnyOtherName Zamasu]] and failed to notice his growing darkness until it was almost too late, and also [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom told him about the Time Rings and Super Dragon Balls]], both of which proved crucial to Zamasu's plans, he's not wrong.

** Hitoshi Shinsou is a manipulative and resentful student from the general course classes at U.A. who taunts and trash talks his opponents in order to get under their skin and using his Brainwashing quirk to make others do all of the work for him. Despite this his belief that there is an unfair bias towards combat oriented Quirks, which makes it harder for students with less powerful but still useful abilities like himself to be recognized holds water. With Aizawa sharing his opinion of the entrance exam being biased, and several Pro Heroes who observe his match against Midoriya acknowledging his potential as a hero.

** As obnoxious as Chi-Chi can be (mostly anime), she has a point in not trusting Piccolo too easily. Keep in mind, Piccolo was once a threat to the universe. She had witnessed him beat the shit out of Goku and put a gaping hole through Goku's body. So it was only natural of her to freak out when she finds out that he killed Goku (granted Goku wanted Piccolo to do it, but it still counts) and then kidnapped her (then) 4-year old son. She also constantly protests against Gohan being too young to engage in battles against villains. Even other characters admit that Gohan (along with Goten and Trunks) were too young to battle against deadly villains in the first place.

** Vegeta gets another one after beating Android 19 so thoroughly that 19 flips out and tries to make a break for it, to which Dr. Gero/Android 20 shouts at Vegeta that it's enough. As Vegeta rightfully points out in response, Gero and 19 had clearly come all this way to destroy him and the other Z Fighters, and [[MoralMyopia it's only "enough" because they're losing]].

** He also berates Goku for his naive nature, stating that it's dangerous to the universe. Remember that Goku spared Frieza, who tried to destroy Earth twice (and succeeds in the latter case; only Whis' TimeMaster abilities averted it), his fighty-happy nature led to Zamasu's StartOfDarkness and destruction of Future multiverse, etc.
** At the end of the Future Trunks Saga, he coldly tells Gowasu to choose his apprentices more carefully in the future. ** Vegeta killing Burter and Recoome in cold blood after Goku defeated them. Goku states that Vegeta was being cruel, but Vegeta then retorts that their deaths were deserved, especially since Gohan and Krillin were on the verge of death, and that they had killed countless people under Frieza's orders. While Goku states that having a little compassion isn't a disadvantage, sparing the Ginyu Force would have caused far more harm than good. This is further emphasized later on when Goku spares their even more sadistic leader Frieza's life at least twice - which only prompts Frieza [[UngratefulBastard to try to]] [[TheFarmerAndTheViper stab Goku in the back]] [[BackstabBackfire both times]]; though, to be fair, Goku only spared Frieza the first time out of CruelMercy instead, ''not'' compassion.
** After saving the heart virus-stricken Goku from being killed by Android 19, Vegeta proceeds to chew him out for it, reminding Goku that he was ''warned'' about the heart virus and should have known that fighting in his condition, let alone going [[SuperMode Super Saiyan]], would have only made it worse.

** Although Vegeta was too harsh with Gohan about him getting weaker in the Buu saga and how his fight with Dabura was a "disgrace," he made a good point: Gohan was struggling against a foe that, seven years ago, he wouldn't have had such a problem with, and it was in their best interest to beat these foes as quickly and efficiently as possible. In fact, Vegeta's arrogance notwithstanding, it's highly probable that he could have defeated Dabura with relative ease had he been the one to fight instead.
** Vegeta gets another one in the climax of the Buu Saga when he [[WhatTheHellHero calls out Goku for leaving his children to die while Kid Buu blows up the Earth]], and choosing to rescue Mr. Satan and Dende instead. While he's doing so, Goku just sits there and has absolutely ''nothing'' to say in his own defense.

** His assessment of the Babarians proves sound; his master Gowasu [[AdviceBackfire brought him there to demonstrate that mortals weren't inherently evil and capable of maturation, yet even after a thousand years, there was no moral growth to observe in the species]].
** He also has a point about [[TheGodsMustBeLazy the gods' inaction against mortals who abuse the knowledge of the gods]]. The suffering caused by Frieza, Bibidi, and Babidi could have been avoided if the gods were more active. Beerus specifically let Frieza do whatever he wanted and even approved of him destroying the Saiyans for [[DisproportionateRetribution petty reasons]]. In the ''Super'' manga, it's outright stated that Beerus should have been the one to handle Majin Buu, but he was [[SleptThroughTheApocalypse asleep]].

* Tohru's father from ''Manga/MissKobayashisDragonMaid'' may have been arrogant and overbearing, but he had a point in warning Tohru and Kobayashi that the former's presence risked causing the war ravaging the Other World to spill over into Earth -- as happened when Elma, Iruru, and Cremene crossed over looking to pick fights.

*** There's also the fact that around the time she shows she utterly adamant against Gohan fighting alongside Goku and the others, he really ''was'' too young to go to battle. Case in point: when Gohan fought Cell, he was ''9''. As a mother, the thought of her (then) only child going to what was essentially warfare must be unthinkable.
** While it was extremely stupid of Chi-Chi to slap Buu in the face and to get herself killed, she had every right to feel contempt towards Buu. It was implied that he was responsible for the death of her older son Gohan, and any parent would be understandably pissed if he or she had to stand in the same area with his/her son's killer(s).
