** ''Eric Cartman''. For example, the Imaginationland episodes had him not caring about the possible destruction of all imagination by evil characters or by the US government's nuke. Instead, he only cared about proving that he won a stupid bet so that Kyle would have to suck his balls.
*** Earlier than that, the episode "Cartmanland" had him spending his entire inheritance money so he can buy a failing theme park in order to have it all to himself. It becomes clear early on that Cartman is so self-centered, he will never tire of it. However, he soon finds that he needs to hire a security guard to keep people out, which causes him to reluctantly let two people in per day in order to pay him. Then the rides start to break down and he has to let in two more people to hire a repairman, and so on and so on until the park is packed full. Even though his park is extremely successful and raking in cash (since being told they weren't allowed in [[ForbiddenFruit made people really want to get in]]), all he cared about was having the park to himself and not having to wait in line for the rides, so he sells it back to the original owner for the same price he paid for it. This ends up immediately biting him in the ass, as the IRS shows up to claim half the money for taxes, and the other half for a damage settlement (Kenny died on one of the rides), leaving him $40,000 in debt with no way to pay it back.

*** Years of being spoiled rotten by his mother Liane reaches its logical conclusion in "City People"; due to the growing number of people moving to South Park, rent prices increase, so Liane gets a job as a realtor so she can keep paying the rent on their house. Cartman being Cartman, though, he only cares that his mother won't be around to take care of him full-time, refusing to listen to Liane when she says she needs the job to keep a roof over their heads. Indeed, when he forces her to quit at the end of the episode, [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome they lose their house and are forced to move into a cramped hot dog diner]]. It's all but implied that this has irreversibly damaged their relationship, and it's not until Cartman accidentally blasts himself in the face with condiments that he realizes he majorly screwed up this time.

*** Earlier than that, the episode "Cartmanland" had him spending his entire inheritance money so he can buy a failing theme park in order to have it all to himself. It becomes clear early on that Cartman is so self-centered, he will never tire of it. However he soon finds that he needs to hire a security guard to keep people out, which causes him to reluctantly let two people in per day in order to pay him.

* Bobgoblin from ''WesternAnimation/{{Wallykazam}}''. In "Buddy Pal Friend Day," he tries to give Hattie a gift to but she is offended because he just picks up a rock off the ground. He asks Wally for help and Wally tells him that he needs to think about what Hattie would want and not about himself. However, as he admits, "Bobgoblin has no idea how to do that." His first attempt, making up a song for her, is disastrous, as the song is all about how much he loves himself and about how great-looking he is. A subsequent attempt, this time at giving a physical gift, fails because he again gives her something ''he'' would like: a rotten tomato. Finally, a song gets him thinking about the things Hattie likes.
