** The Americans are smart enough to recognise a security breach at Cape Kennedy when Dozey-Face tries to jump the perimeter fence, resulting in her and Dot almost getting electrocuted but once Dot is inside the complex, she remains completely undetected. Even disguising herself as part of a roadsign and trying to imitate Buster while donning his spacesuit is enough to fool everyone (The former instance should have been blatantly obvious if the security personnel in their jeep had just bothered to be a bit more observant and it doesn't help that all else who could potentially catch Dot out prove just as inattentive. All they had to do in the latter instance was just poke their head round the door, just in time to catch Dot before she put the helmet on or, failing that, take a closer look at the helmet long enough to realise she wasn't Buster and not even a monkey to boot. It never even occurs to them how Buster somehow acquired a musical watch!). It's only when Dot has been sent into space that everyone finally realises what's happened and the resulting confusing attempts at communication (Dot trying to contact Whyka, the Americans trying to contact Dot, no-one attempting to contact the Russians or vice-versa) and Dot's own mistakes mean Dot only just manages to rescue Whyka in time and we all know what happens next as explained above.

*** Though, in her defense, her landing on the wrong planet was not entirely her fault as she intended to return to Earth after rescuing Whyka, but thanks to the Russians blowing up the ship (something she didn't anticipate), it was thrown off course and she does realize her mistake once she gets dragged into a FantasticRacism conflict and learns the main bad guy, Papa Drop, intends to use the rocket to conquer the universe [[spoiler: and she eventually fixes it, albeit with the help of some unlikely allies (Gorgo, a NonMaliciousMonster, The Party (a.k.a. Roley), Papa Drop's [[TokenGoodTeammate good-natured son]] and the for-whatever-reason-reformed Roundie soldiers).]] It's also possible she left her rocket to find someone to ask for help in returning to Earth, and let's be honest, nobody could've anticipated being ambushed by ScaryDogmaticAliens. Also, Roley was with his father at the time of her arrival (most likely for his father to prevent him from seeing his beloved Poley, who is a Squarie). She also didn't know the Roundies were brainwashed into becoming evil until she learned about the Roundies and the Squaries from Poley, whom she befriends after being thrown in the Prison for Squaries, as for all we know, The Roundies were stationed where Dot and Whyka go exploring under Papa Drop's orders (likely to catch any Squarie escaping from prison), so her getting involved in the conflict between the Roundies and the Squaries was pretty much on Papa Drop. She also didn't know who or where The Party was until Poley tells her that he is a freedom fighter whose hideout is on Gorgo Mountain. Even when sending the rocket deeper into the surface after escaping from the Prison for Squaries, she still foiled Papa Drop's plan to conquer the universe, albeit by accident. Plus, turning off her communicator once she realized she wasn't talking to Whyka was a smart move on her part, because if she attempted to contact the Americans, she would've made things worse. It's very also likely she wanted to use the rocket to bypass the aforementioned dangers to The Party's hideout, but had to go on foot because she had no other choice, as she tells a mustached stranger (who is actually ''The Party'', but she didn't know this at the time) she escaped from the prison to look for him in exchange for his aid to return to Earth and foiling Papa Drop's plan to conquer the universe, which also may likely be because she didn't want to make things worse for the Americans in the Control room (also judging by Papa Drop's vow to fix The Party and Gogo once he gets the rocket out). Her wanting to make a campfire and cook pilly fruit is also understandable because during her stay in the Prison for Squaries she was only fed bad soup. The Roundies searching for her and attempting to recapture her after she escaped is most likely Professor Globus' fault, since he (unintentionally) blew Dot's cover to Papa Drop and also Papa Drop's fault since he betrayed his own army by threatening to imprison them if they failed.
*** Even then, she still had a handful of GuileHero moments, such as when she swaps places with Buster the monkey at Cape Kennedy, when she tricks the Roundy Sergeant into thinking he's a Squarie to protect Poley and later in the film when she tricks the Roundy Sergeant into thinking she's painting a line on the ground to divide the Squaries and the Roundies in order to escape from prison and look for The Party. [[spoiler: And her crowning moment comes at the climax when she helps the Party (aka Roley) expose Papa Drop for the fraud he is, ultimately leading in the latter's defeat.]]

*** On the other hand, she ''does'' know where Cape Kennedy is located.

We don't know for certain that's the case.

*** Also if one considers that ''Dot in Space'' takes place sometime during the mid-1960s (since Cape Canaveral was renamed Cape Kennedy during this time), they've already successfully sent the first human in orbit, who was Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin. Therefore, the entire plot could've been avoided if they at least sent one of their astronauts to rescue Whyka.

*** The Roundy Sergeant is smart enough to know that without Dot, there is no way Papa Drop would be able to learn how to operate her rocket so he can use it to conquer the Universe as he would need (or rather have to force) Dot to show him, which was his reason for hoping Gorgo would eat Dot, even if it was mostly [[DirtyCoward for the sake of saving his own skin and avoiding imprisonment]] [[ItsPersonal as well as his own personal grudge against Dot for making a fool of him earlier in the film]] ([[StupidEvil Although this was partly because of his own stupidity as mentioned above,]] [[KarmicButtMonkey and considering he runs the Prison for Squaries, he deserved it]]). Plus, by this time, he has a reason for hoping Papa Drop's plan fails as Papa Drop has betrayed him by threatening to imprison him if he and his troops fail to recapture Dot. This still doesn't excuse his own selfishness and willingness to throw his own troops under a bus however as he changes his position when it is revealed that Gorgo only eats Dot's gag and is in fact the pet of The Party (a.k.a. Roley), and berates his troops for running away from Gorgo (which is extremely hypocritical since he himself ran away from Gorgo) to recapture Dot and The Party under the threat that they'll be imprisoned by Papa Drop, not even caring if his own troops get eaten by Gorgo. This only drives them to defect from him and side with Dot, The Party/Roley and Gorgo.

** Dot is really open to interpretation here, as while she is smarter than the aforementioned and the following examples, once she leaves Australia for America, she is somehow unable to communicate with Buster or Whyka (or any creature on Pie-Arr-Squared that isn't a Roundy or a Squarey) at any point in the film despite having been able to communicate with animals that are not native to Australia as recently as the previous film which also involved her going to America. I'm not defending any of Dot's actions in the movie, but I see several things wrong with this paragraph. If she did disguise Whyka as a Roundy by putting her in her astronaut helmet, Whyka would've suffocated or die from several broken bones. And as far as I'm concerned, Dot never did learn from her mistakes from the previous films, which is justified because this is a new experience for her. Also, this makes it sound like Dot deserved the abuse she endured from the Roundies, which she obviously did not.

** The Russians for sending Whyka into space where she becomes trapped in orbit (The Russian professor can't even recite the countdown properly!), then resolving to just blow up Whyka's rocket instead of sending someone out to rescue her. They don't even bother to inform anyone before blowing it up (Least of all, Dot or the Americans). This results in the shockwave that sends Dot's rocket off course and into another solar system altogether, leading to her and Whyka becoming stranded on the planet Pie-Arr-Squared.

What is more, she is still somehow able to understand Whyka's barking in Russian (Though this, sort of, makes sense as she previously communicated successfully with animals in Russia before). When she's launched into space, she tries to contact Whyka but only gets through to the Americans but doesn't realise this at first and believes she's talking to Whyka, until the Americans point out her mistake. She also wastes much of her time trying to communicate with an old satellite before finally coming across Whyka's rocket (Also, despite having clearly heard Whyka's name enough times to remember it, she still refers to Whyka by her real-life counterpart's name at one point). Consequently, she successfully rescues Whyka but wastes further time by failing to realise her lifeline is tangled round the pilot's seat in Whyka's rocket. She does eventually realise this mistake and rectifies it but this means she is unable to get her rocket clear before Whyka's explodes, she then lands on the first planet she sees, assuming it to be Earth without bothering to try and contact anyone on the planet to make sure, other than announce she's coming down now (The fact she was in orbit above Earth the whole time she was rescuing Whyka should have allowed her to observe the planet long enough to recognise it and therefore be able to tell the planet she was heading for was NOT Earth. The lack of response from anyone on the surface of Pie-Arr-Squared and therefore, no one to successful guide her down as the Americans would have been smart enough to do, should also have served as an obvious sign she was headed for the wrong planet). She nosedives her rocket into the planet's surface where it becomes stuck [[DiggingYourselfDeeper and she only manages to dig herself and Whyka deeper when she tries to rescue her rocket herself]]. Also, all things considered, once she realised she and Whyka weren't on Earth, they could have done more to make sure it was safe to leave their rocket before doing so, liking waiting until nightfall or at least until the coast was clear incase anyone who couldn't be trusted came along as, therefore, it would have taken longer for the Roundies to discover them, which in turn, would have lessened the likelihood of them being ambushed and captured. Dot could even have used her space helmet to disguise Whyka upon seeing the planet's bubble-shaped inhabitants (from a distance of course, since only the rocket's portholes were visible after the crash-landing), in order to fool them. They certainly wouldn't have been captured soon after setting foot on Pie-Arr-Squared if they had been a bit more cautious about leaving their rocket to explore the planet or at least find someone who could potentially help them with rescuing their rocket so they could return to Earth. They could even have waited for someone who was actually trustworthy, like Roley for instance, be he in his normal appearance or his guise as ''The Party'' because even he would have eventually tagged on to their presence, as well as their rocket (regardless of where he was at the time of Dot's arrival or whether she knew where or who he or his alter ego was or not) and he certainly wouldn't have turned them in, knowing what would happen to them if his father found out about them and probably would have known how to keep them hidden for as long as it took to rescue their rocket or even summoned Gorgo to come and rescue it as soon as, but not before enlisting their help in bringing down his father first, of course. This shows that Dot has clearly forgotten the lessons she learned in the previous movies about being cautious when in unfamiliar situations or surroundings). After being forced to flee across the wilderness of Pie-Arr-Squared, encountering quicksand, hostile trees, active volcanoes and rock-like creatures, [[spoiler:[[TooDumbToLive she builds a campfire with which to cook pilly-fruit for herself and Whyka, when nothing seems to suggest the pilly-fruit couldn't have been eaten raw, but this also sends up smoke signals and a scent that alert the Roundy Army, who are on her trail (since she left fragments of her dress lying around and thought nothing of it), and Gorgo to her position.]] Luckily for her, Gorgo scares off the Roundies and spares her life. This also comes off as a sort of IdiotHero moment for her as her escape from the Prison for Squares ultimately leads her to the ''The Party'' (Roley) which, in turn, leads to Papa Drop's defeat.]]

** Papa Drop, [[SmallNameBigEgo for all his talk about being the "great me" and "much-loved leader"]], [[StupidEvil doesn't have the smarts to back it up]] [[DidntThinkThisThrough nor the ability to think things through]].
