Scooby ended up at his house after trying to escape the ghosts and Shaggy almost immediately adopted him and the two quickly formed a strong, loving bond and became protective of each other, despite knowing each other for a short period of time. He met Fred, Daphne and Velma during detention and despite their different personalities they all ended up bonding and becoming closer while they tried to solve the mystery. Even after the adventure was over, the gang decided to try and find a new mystery to solve just so they could stay a team and Shaggy surprisingly enough, was all for it because he now saw them as his friends.
