* Rimmer, Kryten, and Cat are able to exit the illusion and wake up in reality. When they see that Lister hasn't woken up, due to wanting to be with Kochanski, Cat shows genuine concern for him and what will happen to him if he chooses not to fight the illusion. Eventually, after spending time with the illusion of Kochanski, Lister decides to exit too, to be with his friends and have a chance at finding the real Kochanski while repeating all the stuff the kids from earlier praised about him. When he wakes up, he is surrounded by his friends who help him up and walk away with him as the original opening theme plays, showing that despite all their flaws and grief, the ''Red Dwarf'' crew are TrueCompanions.

* The revelation that Rimmer's mother gave him the middle name Judas because she was a member of the Church of Judas, which believed that Judas was actually the twin brother of Jesus Christ, who sacrificed his name and reputation to be crucified in his place, so he could help spread his brother's message of peace and compassion throughout the world, and she wanted her son to have those qualities. Made even more touching as the ending of the episode suggests that this belief was actually ''[[TheCuckoolanderWasRight right]]''.

Added DiffLines:

** Alternate Ace's endless faith in Rimmer. Over the years it's been shown Rimmer's self-loathing goes beyond psychotic and given physical form ''will'' try to kill him, because he's so unaccustomed to happiness, and that only one person has really had any belief there's anything good in him, but Alternate Ace perseveres, even in light of Rimmer's own dismissiveness, believing that if he gets Rimmer to just have one ''moment'' to believe he can be heroic, he can do it... and he might well be right.

* At the end of "Better than Life", Lister dies, and the remains of the Boys gather together to hold a funeral. It is an entirely ridiculous, stupid affair, thanks to copying a plan Lister wrote down while completely hammered off his face one night, but it's Rimmer, ''Rimmer'', who insists on following this ridiculous plan to the letter as a last send off to Lister.
* Following this, Rimmer, the Cat and Kryten take ''Red Dwarf'' back to where the crew's ashes were dumped, and grab one very ''specific'' canister, before firing it into the backwards universe.

** Plus, the concept of Ace Rimmer itself. One guy whose legacy was so powerful, it literally spans across multiple dimensions. He was a hero who inspired everyone around him, even his alternate selves, to be the absolute ''best'' that they could ever be. And when he eventually died, another Rimmer took up the mantle to continue his legacy. Then he died, and another took it up, and another, and another... even the most spineless, selfish, cowardly Rimmer in the multiverse, ''our'' Rimmer, was willing to do it. Just to ensure there would always be an Ace Rimmer out there somewhere, ready to swoop in, save the day, and maybe have some incredible sex while he's at it.
