* "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by Music/TheBeachBoys, which serves as a sort of theme for Lucy, is one of Music/BrianWilson's most beautiful compositions. A closer look at the lyrics shows that it describes exactly the kind of love story Lucy and Henry always dreamed of having, but never found until each other.

* When the doctor asks Henry if his head had always been egg-shaped before being hit with a bat, Doug loudly retorts "hey, don't make fun of Henry like that! It’s not his fault his head is shaped that way!" While his aggression is likely a result of steroids, it's still heartwarming to see that he has come to accept Henry and will jump to his defense like that.

* Sue, the owner of the cafe, is something of a MamaBear towards Lucy. She tries to stop Henry from talking to her and explains Lucy's memory problems to him when she doesn't remember him. In the first video Henry makes for Lucy there's a clip of Sue where she reveals she was friends with Lucy's late mother and promised to watch out for her friend's daughter.

* In a sense, the fact that Lucy is never outright "cured" of her condition. Most movies of this ilk might have some happenstance completely cure Lucy of her amnesia so she and Henry can go on to live a normal life free of these prior issues. But not this movie. Lucy and Henry work together day by day, taking steps and making concessions in their relationship to let Lucy be comfortable despite her memory loss erasing most of her memories with her and Henry. For people who have terminal conditions or illnesses that they've lived with their whole lives, this can be a sweet thing all on its own. The idea that one can find a partner who loves them so much that they want to work with them to live together despite the fact it may be more difficult than if they were with someone completely healthy.

* All the things Marlin and Doug do for Lucy every night. To the point of watching the same football game and Film/TheSixthSense, washing her shirt, refilling her shampoo, painting the workship white, and having a pineapple upside down cake. And they've been doing it for over a year. All because they love her and want her to have a nice day.
