* Ciel taking in Snake, despite lying to him that he was looking for his friends when said friends had attempted to ambush Ciel's mansion and were killed by Ciel's staff. However in later chapters, it's shown that Ciel does geniunely care for Snake, such as the brief encouragement he gives to Snake when other people were mocking his appearance. Also, he told Snake to get on the rescue boats in his place.

** Ada returning the favor by helping to heal Bard after he takes a massive back stab from Layla.

* Season one, episode seven where Angela gives Finny a little kiss on the cheek and promises to meet him again. [[spoiler:This quickly turns heartbreaking when you realise they never do.]]

* The look on Sieglinde's face when Sebastian gives her the blood samples for her to test is nothing short of adorable. Added sweetness since Sebastian was quite ruthless to her during her etiquette lessons.

** In a somber variant, even after a Native tribe slaughtered his family and he killed many of them back in retaliation, Bard does acknowledge that the settlers took away their land and resources and are therefore far from an innocent party.

Sebastian might not like it, but it looks like this was the better outcome of the two.

* After everyone involved in the kidnappings were slain, Ciel and Sebastian do make an attempt to find the orphans that the circus troupe were protecting. Granted, this was out of duty and certainly ''not'' out of wanting to help the troupe in any way, but it counts for something nonetheless. It's just a shame about what they find when they reach the orphanage...

** Counts as meta too, given the scene was added by one of the writing directors so that the troupe could leave on a positive note; he was prepared to delete it if Toboso didn't approve (they were involved in child kidnaping and trafficking after all, even if clearly under duress), but she was so moved to the point of tears that she gave him the go ahead.

* Small one from season 1, but despite uttering detesting them Sebastian tells a dying dog it did well with holding onto a piece of critical evidence and that it could now rest.

* In a very twisted variant Sebastian's final thoughts in this arc: He admits that he sees humans as base creatures who will always trample on each other in order to advance their own goals or simply make it to the other side of the hills, but this is actually one of the reasons why he finds humanity so interesting.
