* We don't see them smuggling anything, for all we know the featured folks might just be drug PRODUCERS. As in, they grow and process it but hand the drugs off afterwards to a different group. We might not be dealing with the entire Flaming Dragon here, just one of the branches. The actual smugglers are the connected ones.

* According to opening monologue, ten men were sent to rescue Four Leaf, four return, three wrote books, two got them published and one got a movie deal. But the movie they are making is based on Four Leaf's book. How is that supposed to work, since he definitely wasn't sent to rescue himself, and the opening monologue clearly says that of the ten men sent on that mission, four returned, and three of THOSE four wrote books...(I know it hardly matters, considering [[spoiler:Four Leaf is a fake]], but it's still a headscratcher)

* A film about two gay Irish Catholic priests... unless in this universe China has at some point diverged from its Communist ruling state, I don't see it winning an award at a Chinese film festival, let alone being selected. (As mentioned on the BannedInChina page, the film it spoofs (Brokeback Mountain) was not granted a certificate by the country's Cultural Bureau and was thus denied distribution).

* It seems ridiculous that the drug gang only had ''[[OscarBait Simple Jack]]'' as entertainment. The drug smugglers have access to an international market and would be skilled in smuggling contraband material across borders. They also have enough awareness of the outside world to mistake the actors for being [=DEA=] agents. Getting their hands on a better movie shouldn't be too hard.

** Well, there ''are'' certain franchise-- like ''Franchise/{{Saw}}'', for sake of argument-- that have the same basic core plot, but have produced 5+ films. Take ''Saw'': the premise largely is, someone builds traps in a building to "punish" a group of people for some character flaw(s), and if they survive the hope is they change for the better/appreciate life more. 2021 is looking at the release of a NINTH film in the series.
