** To expand, "If I had a dollar for..." is a common way of starting a less-than-satisfied sentence, usually implying that one would have a lot of money. (i.e. "If I had a dollar for every time he pushed me around, I'd be a millionaire!") The joke within the episode is hearing the same sentence format used in a context when you'd only have one dollar.

** It was a joke and an insult regarding [=SpongeBob's=] stupidity. The fact that Squidward said he hypothetically only had one dollar showed that SpongeBob was lacking of a good brain.

The insult was directed at Sponge Bob, not Patrick.

* What the hell is "If I had a dollar for every brain you don't have" supposed to mean? Is Squidward just really that bad at sentence structuring?
