** Season 3 eventually provides an answer to why Erodius didn't think of that: [[spoiler:because it wasn't the real Erodius. Fantos threw the heroes into a LotusEaterMachine where their wishes would come true and they would never lose, so the Season 2 defeat of Erodius was just part of the fantasy world, and that's why the defeat seemed "too easy".]]

** From what we see, the stones take on the properties of the superpowers the planet's native species already possessed. There is no guarantee that the inhabitants of the planets we see destroyed ''had'' any superpowers to be duplicated, or even that they were all inhabited in the first place.

** He also had his translator when reading the comics, so it might help with written speech as well with the right settings. Also, comics have lots of pictures.
** Chuck's alien species has the tech to be able to translate foreign-written words into a language that they're familiar with. In other words, when Chuck reads things in English he's reading it in his alien language, not the other way around. He doesn't know how to truly read English.
