1. This isn't Fridge Brilliance, this is an assertion being made without evidence. (And if you do have evidence, then this isn't Fridge Brilliance it's just a part of the game.) 2. That "nitpicky" comment feels a little uncalled for for what is a legitimate criticism to something that wasn't answered in the actual game. 3. It's highly unlikely that they would have used brain uploading considering that it would be pointless (and indeed, if that's the reason they couldn't terminate Stephano and Theodore blindingly stupid) for them to do in the first place.

* The new STEM system for Union must use actual BrainUploading for its residents. One or two nitpicky critics have asked why nobody tried to track down Stefano and Theodore's pods in the real world and terminate them from there, when it's very possible that unplugging or destroying their bodies wouldn't do anything to stop them because their bodies are merely hollow vegetables, with their consciousness having been removed from their physical brain for insertion into the STEM. Sebastian, meanwhile, was only temporarily put in to find Lily and get her out, and [[spoiler:that's why Mobius had two medical operatives standing by with a lethal injection for him once he retrieved her. They planned to terminate Sebastian's vitals just as they plugged his consciousness back into his soon-to-be-dead body]].

* In the first game, most of the creatures you face in STEM are people who died in unique ways. One person who is missing and speculated to have died during the game is [[spoiler: Joseph. Sebastian may have to fight his partner and best friend for his daughter's safety.]]
* Sebastian's change of character from the first game to here is due to the result of what happened [[spoiler:to his family]]. [[spoiler:His daughter was killed in a fire and his wife left him. Like any other human being, he buried those emotions away in order to not face the reality which was where the first Evil Within came. The stress of going through that nightmarish world, losing his partner and failing to save a child like he lost Lily caused those blocks to be destroyed and all of his emotions resurfaced.
