* Luffy and company really ''do'' have the Devil's luck; imagine if Judge and Big Mom had successfully managed to find Sanji before the Sabody Arc -- as in back when the Straw Hats were still pretty weak. Big Mom's crew would've absolutely ''massacred'' them and, knowing what Linlin herself had in store for them, Sanji and the Sanji retrieval team probably would've met a gory end.

** Wouldn't be more logical that Marines that do catch noteworthy criminals to get a bonus? I mean, if the WG was like "Good job mate, now go back and risk your life catching criminals with powers that can kill you in a thousand ways before you even can process it", then a lot more Marines would be common foot soldiers and beat cops rolled into one rank. Even if it's not a cash bonus, then maybe a big promotion, a Devil Fruit or some other gift that makes the Marine feel like they have done something more than catching a guy for some petty crime

* Why haven't we seen more Fish-men or menfolk that have eaten Devil Fruits? One, how many of such Fruits do you know actually grow under the sea? Only those Fish-men that have been to the surface would probably encounter them. Two, if your primary abilities and very lifestyles revolves around swimming and manipulating water, then ''knowingly'' eating a Fruit that robs you of that is the last thing you'd want to do! (Unless you're somebody like Vander Decken).

* Why didn't Spandam eat a Devil Fruit himself and chose to give the ones he got through connections to Kaku and Kalifa, while he could have done so and at least mitigate his physical weakness? Simple. He knows he is weak, and that Kaku and Kalifa can use the fruits better. Also, due to having bad luck, he fears he coould accidentally fall in water and drown.

** It was revealed before the group headed to Fish-Man Island that the hat was originally Roger's before it ended up with Shanks. Not only that, but Roger looked just like Luffy when he was younger.

* Black Maria is a perfect foe for Robin. She lets minions do the work for her and is always surrounded by them, savagely beats up helpless captives who won't fight back because of a crippling weakness, while using even weapons to do so, and has a living weapon which has eaten a Devil Fruit. Maria also uses her dark past in Ohara to psychologically torture Robin, plans to violently extract information from her, destroys her own base/brothel and her laugh is even "Wahahahahahaha!" So, Robin is probably thinking of a certain old personal foe of hers when she beats her the exact same way as him.

** Of course Luffy would turn out to be the [[SlaveLiberation Warrior of Liberation]] so many have been looking for. The very first act he committed as a Pirate after leaving Windmill village (second chapter in the manga, part of his EstablishingCharacterMoment in the anime) was freeing Coby from his self-imposed life of servitude towards Alviva, very specifically not rescuing Coby himself, but rather challenging his views of the world and proving an example to him that his dreams of being a marine were possible if he had the courage to try and risk himself for it. It was only when Coby proved he ''did'' have the grit to put himself in danger for his hopes and dreams that Luffy beat down Aviva, in much a similar manner that the Revolutionary army is later demonstrated to operate, inspiring the downtrodden and weak to free themselves rather than accept oppression.

** Another thing about his flashback: Despite being so strong and amassing a huge bounty for a child, Robin started with a higher one. Meaning strength alone doesn't give you a bounty, and knowledge of history is more dangerous to the Government than even the greatest brute strength.

Moriah's shadow thievery quest to destroy Kaido: Streusen's fault. The slavery of the dwarves of Dressrossa by Doflamingo to grow [=SMILES=]: Streusen's fault. Wano's misery with the rule of Kaido and Orochi: Streusen's fault. Short of the founders of the World Government and the World Nobles themselves, or possibly Rocks D. Xebec, Streusen may have unleashed the most misery upon the world of any one person. And unlike the above, Streusen may not face any consequences if the Big Mom Pirates were to survive in any form solid enough to keep their central territory afloat for the rest of his life, which being in his nineties is not a unreasonable possibility.

[[EvilCounterpart Blackbeard]] was noted in a flashback to apparently have the unusual ability to stay awake 24/7, implied to be involuntarily on his part, meaning that no matter how hard he wants to, he cannot dream himself. Fittingly, his Devil Fruit is the one that ties thematically closest to nighttime and possesses the similarly-atypical ability to apparently steal the Devil Fruit abilities of others, in essence, 'stealing their dreams'.

** Said 'desire' essence within the fruits also ''finally'' explains how weapons can 'eat' the fruits and turn into LivingWeapons -- however the fruit is 'consumed', since said weapons lack any sentience or will, the 'desire' of the fruit can manifest wholesale without clashing against the will of one who 'ate' it as normally happens, growing a body through it's new physical form as shaped by whatever desire it was. Note than of all the weapons seen so far, all of them were Zoan fruits, which thus naturally possessed intelligence and locomotion once they manifested through said powers. This also explains why the SMILE fruits, incomplete as they were, resulted in haphazard growths of animal forms and body parts throughout the users', which also possessed minds and intelligence separate from their 'masters', as depicted by Holdem and others

* At first Sir Crocodile just sounds like a cool name, but under a bit of scrutiny it becomes extremely meaningful/ironic. The most obvious is the fact that with the hook and being a pirate, he's a pretty strong shout out to Peter Pan. Then comes the fact that like any other DF user, he can't swim. Not only that, but water is his main weakness. If he so much as touches water, he can't use his powers, a sharp contrast to his namesake, which pretty much live in water. Finally there's his DF power (sand) and the fact that the island that he was the "hero" and "protector" of is a desert.

** Shaka "The Good" and Lilith "The Evil" represent part of Vegapunk's morality, and are named after mythological figures considered to be important representations of goodness and evilness respectively (Shaka is one of the names of Buddha, while Lilith is a progenitor of demons).
