Tom Nook knows how shady Redd can be (especially with some of the previous games heavily implying that Redd was the one who backstabbed Nook during his younger years while in The City) and now that Nook has actual control over the town, he can tell Wilbur and Norville to not let Redd in, like some of the other visitors, requiring Redd to find another way in to sell his wares.

* When you catch bugs in any game in the Animal Crossing series, some of them will run away from you (such as the walking leaf). When they do, if you corner them next to a river or sea, they will, without hesitation, jump in to the water and disappear. They do not come back up out of the water, or even make little air bubbles come up to the surface, indicating that they are even making an attempt at breathing, meaning that simply your character's presence inspires suicidal thoughts in BUGS.
** It's more likely that they're just mindlessly trying to flee from you and just drown themselves in the process because they're more focused on running from you than looking where they're going. Which admittedly isn't much better.

Shearling is the tanned skin from a recently sheared lamb or sheep that has the short wool still attached. It's possible to have sheep as villagers in the series, meaning that they are as sentient as any other character in the game. It wouldn't be like Gracie to skimp on the quality of her products, so one has to wonder just where the material for these boots is coming from...

* The two villager types that are guaranteed to appear with you when you first embark on the island are the [[LovableJock Jock]] and [[CoolBigSis Uchi (big sister)]] type. It's natural that the Jock is willing to go, as they desire adventure and opportunities to get themselves stronger, and it's just as natural that the big sister type is willing to go to the island as well. Uchi villagers are known for being protective towards previous residents, and so them being here allows for strong emotional support on the island.
