Two years after defeating a cult led by his babysitter Bee, Cole continues to be haunted by the horrific events of that night. Everyone in his life thinks he has lost his mind since Bee and all of her friends disappeared, making Cole’s story hard to believe. He is still hopelessly smitten with his best friend and next door neighbor Melanie – the only one who believes his story – who convinces him to forget the past and come to a party thrown at a nearby lake. But when old enemies unexpectedly return, Cole will once again have to outsmart the forces of evil and survive the night.

Bee states that it was realizing how much she hurt Cole (who she did care about) at the VERY END of the first film is what “changed her,” and made her decide to set up Cole and Phoebe together and moreover sabotage the other Cultists. She also doesn’t really try to kill Cole in the first movie, though she did send the other Cult members after him. Again, though, it’s pretty clearly shown what happened: she cared for Cole, but was corrupted enough that she was okay with him being killed by others to keep up her Deal With The Devil/not be caught by police; she didn’t want to kill him herself though, and then at the END she had a Heel Realization after Cole confesses that he loved her and later she decided to save him and get he and Phoebe together. It’s also possible that Bee had some plan in mind to save Cole in the first movie— she was apparently watching enough to see Max die and shoot, in her words, around Cole, so who knows.

* PlotHole: The events of both films were all part of 's elaborate scheme to get Cole and Phoebe together. Except that requires the audience to forget that: 1. Her motivation in the first film was to gain strength (Retcon no mention of Phoebe whatsoever) and 2. She and her cult tried to kill Cole multiple times, which contradicts her alleged objective.

* Retcon: The second film alleges that the events of both films were orchestrated by Bee as part of a "master plan" to get Cole and Phoebe together. Except, in the original film, Bee said she was performing the blood ritual because she wanted to gain strength and she tried to kill Cole. Umm...

** tries to assuage Cole’s embarrassment over taking medicine by pointing out that most high schoolers are either prescribed medication themselves or are self-medicating in some way.
