* OohMeAccentIsSlipping: Charlie Hunnam attempts a vaguely Irish accent as Kai but frequent lapses into his native Newcastle.

* SchizoTech: The level of technology differs greatly among planets and also within different parts of the same planet--soldiers with spaceships, blasters and sentient robots next to a farming commune which works by hand and with beasts of burden and move around on horseback. Even more egregious, on Veldt we have said farmers living only a few-days ride away from a city with electricity and a spaceport.

* TakeThat: When [[spoiler: Kai]] betrays the heroes, [[spoiler: he]] tells about surviving a failed rebellion against the Motherworld and how [[spoiler: he]] vowed to never again be on "the wrong side of history." Then again, given [[spoiler: Kai's death]] and how the story will likely end, perhaps this reaffirms rather than criticizes the idea that the moral arc of the universe bends toward justice.

* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: Charlie Hunnam's accent as Kai is.....[[{{Understatement}} quite hard to pin down.]] According to Charlie Hunnam, he was going for a Northern Irish accent but it's a horrifically bad attempt and it seems like it does a full tour of the British Isles throughout the movie. Also overlaps with OohMeAccentsSlipping since Hunnam's Newcastle accent breaks through at times.

** No details are provided about what happened the day the last King of Motherworld and his daughter were assassinated. This is intriguing, because as the Crown Princess' personal bodyguard, Kora by rights should have been present, and if at all possible only allowed such a thing to happen over her dead body.

* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: Charlie Hunnam's accent as Kai is.....[[{{Understatement}} quite hard to pin down.]] According to Charlie Hunnam, he was going for a Northern Irish accent but it's a pretty bad attempt and it flips between English, Scottish and Irish throughout the movie. Also overlaps with OohMeAccentsSlipping since Hunnam's Newcastle accent breaks through at times.

* AllAsiansKnowMartialArts: Nemesis, the only Asian character with speaking lines, is the an energy sword-wielding melee fighter in a film where everyone else uses blasters. She even wields her swords in a Katana-like fashion, despite them clearly being much more like longer machetes, which would have a vastly different looking fighting style to utilise.

* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: Not really surprising considering the inspiration, but during each action scene, not a single named hero is ever shot, even in spaces with little cover and not enough room to move around. [[Spoiler:Darrian Bloodaxe is only shot when he's hit point-blank by the pilot in a MutualKill.]]

* NoodleIncident: No details are provided about what happened the day the last King of Motherworld and his daughter were assassinated. ** to "TabletopGame/Warhammer40000", in the uniform and general aesthetic of the "motherworld", down to the skull imagery and the presence of "priests" on the battlefield holding relics. The Motherworld, while not being as xenophobic as the Imperium of Man, is very "human only" when it comes to its soldiers. the officer uniforms are very similar to Astra Militarum commissars' and the general look and feel is very warhammer 40k being both baroque and gothic. Motherworld capitol is spires and domes with nobility dressed flamboyantly, the mining planet is similar to a Hive World. there are more or less power swords, the heavy weapons of the soldiers resemble bolt weapons. the shot of Kora holding the huge banner is very similar to a miniature of a Cadian soldier holding a similar banner. moreover, the empire use Latin terminology and "psykers" (humans with esp powers) are hinted to exist.

* ArmiesAreEvil: The Imperium in a nutshell.

* GalacticConqueror: The Imperium is conquering all the planets its encounters.

* GreaterScopeVillain: Regent Balisarius, whose takeover of the Imperium in the wake of the royal family's deaths, turned an already aggressively imperialist force into an even more aggressive, needlessly brutal one.

* HornedHumanoid: A random woman in a bar has huge horns.

* MeaningfulName: Veldt is a farming community, and its name means "field" in Dutch,

** Two of the revealed characters are siblings named Bloodaxe.

* AffablyEvil: Atticus is a vile, evil warlord, no denying that, but he is rarely anything but polite to everyone.

* GladiatorGames: Shortly after leaving the Imperium, General Titus fled to a nearby planet, where he spends his days fighting in the coluseum as a gladiator.

* DualWielding: In the trailer, Nemesis wields two {{hot blade}}s against [[SpiderPeople Harmada]].
* DueToTheDead: There's the funeral of an old monarch in the August 2023 teaser, with everyone dressed in black for mourning while he's clad in white.
* EarthShatteringKaboom: The teaser shows an energy weapon destroying a planet.

* ForDoomTheBellTolls: In the August 2023 teaser, Kora rings a village's alarm bell with a mallet as threatening ships are approaching.

* TheHeavy: Admiral Noble's hunt for the Bloodaxes, arrival in Veldt to demand the farmers' harvest, including their women and children and then later fixation on capturing Kora, will drive most of the conflict.

The two parts of this film duology have been [[MovieMultipack filmed together]]. Netflix is set to release the first part, titled ''Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire'', on December 22, 2023, with a limited theatrical release planned. The second part, titled ''Rebel Moon: The Scargiver'', is set for release in April 2024.
