* IdiotBall: Just before the blood is poured, Sue (who's managed to sneak in) notices the bucket of blood and the rope trailing down to under the stairs. She pulls open the curtain on the staircase and sees Chris and Billy hiding under there. Miss Collins sees her and grabs her just as she is pointing at them and yelling, but [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom just throws her out]] ''without even looking at what she was pointing at,'' even though the vast majority of people on the planet will reflexively look at something if someone points and says something like "Hey, look it that!"

* PeriodShaming: The film adapts the scene where Carrie gets her first period pretty faithfully; the girls jeer at Carrie, throw sanitary products at her and chant "Plug it up" while she cowers and cries for help. When Carrie asks her mother why she didn't tell her about periods, Margaret just slaps her and preaches about menstruation being a punishment for sin, claiming that if Carrie "had remained sinless, the curse of blood would never have come upon her" and that she must pray for forgiveness. [[AlphaBitch Chris]] plays a cruel prank on Carrie by rigging the prom votes so that Carrie will be crowned prom queen, then dumps a bucket of pig’s blood on her just to remind everybody of her traumatizing shower incident. Needless to say, [[RageBreakingPoint this was the last straw]] [[TheDogBitesBack for Carrie.]]

* FoeRomanceSubtext: A one-sided example. While Chris hates Carrie, she seems to really enjoy tormenting her, is obsessed with her to the point that she's thinking about Carrie during sex with her boyfriend, and the lead-up to the blood dump shows numerous close-ups of her licking her lips and her sweaty hands shaking in excitement as she's about to pull the rope. Nancy Allen confirmed this was intentional and said she played it like Chris was having an orgasm.
