* Comments: Meant to be pre-slash, as per the author, but nothing really happens between Steve and Tony (as also noted by the author). Aside from that, it’s an excellent friendship story told bondibg over movies and TV shows. The dialogue is simultaneously humorous and somewhat heartbreaking. Even though the fic is about the development of Steve and Tony’s relationship from teammates to close friends, all of the Avengers (and Rhodey and Pepper) make appearances, and it’s awesome!

* Comments: This is one of the best fics as far as canon rewrites go. The character development is superb and the primary focus but the plot is also worthwhile. It explores the prickly MCU team dynamics without character bashing. The non-linear narrative is fresh instead of confusing. The story contains several plot points that are reminiscent of the comics without alienating any MCU-only readers. And if that doesn't convince you...Tony Stark with sick kids. C'mon. You want to read it.
