The story is a [[FandomSpecificPlot new season competition]]. After ''Total Drama'''s third season, ''Total Drama World Tour'', the show is almost cancelled due to budget issues coming from lawsuits, coverups and failed merchandise. The show is saved when it is bought by a new network, the head of which is a fan of the show. The new season's budget is tight, so instead of trying to find a sensible and economic solution, the host of the show, [[TheHost Chris]] [[ItsAllAboutMe McLean]] decides to hire a [[AuthorAvatar crazy fan of the show]] to do cheap labor under the guise of being a co-host. This co-host, [[ButtMonkey Rhonda]], decides to redo the World Tour concept because she believes that she can do it better. The co-hosts form a new cast, taking thirteen previous favorites from the past seasons against twelve new contestants (including Chris' former sidekick [[CampCook Chef Hatchet]]).

* BigDamnHeroes: A recurring theme with the Fun Bunch. When ever someone is captured, they almost always make a random entrance [[NickOfTime at the perfect moment]]. However actually saving the person though...

* Uncanceled: In-universe: After the third season cost more than it made, the network cancelled it. But than a new network bought the rights, and restarted the show with the fourth season, Total Drama What The Heck?

* PromotedFanboy: Many of the new contestants have previously seen the show and are excited to be a part of it. Chris' aide/co-host Rhonda also started out as a fan of the show.

** One notable example is during a commercial break a commercial for a bakery called Purple Cupcakes At the end of the episode, the former contestants are all given free cupcakes from this company. The three contestants who [[spoiler:pick the purple cupcake return next episode.]] Foreshadowed by Cody.

* NonGameplayElimination: [[spoiler:Geoff]] quits in order to attend summer school.

* OnlyAFleshWound: Both Bridgette and Julie get shot in the foot, but are none the worse in time for the next challenge.

* HerHeartWillGoOn: Played for laughs when Bridgette and Geoff are separated...for at the most twenty minutes when he has to prepare a meal.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: The cast has twenty five contestants and two co-hosts. This doesn’t include the two aftermath co-hosts, recurring and minor characters, non-returning contestants, cameos or debuting contestants.

* NoFourthWall: One of the most noted things about this fanfic by readers. It's broken constantly and the trope has become very associated with the fic and it's author on the wiki the story hails from.

The new season was approved by the network who gave de a larger remodel of the previous season's plane (The Total Drama Jumbo Jet) as a gift, and allowed more episodes per season with a longer runtime. The two hosts formed a new cast, taking thirteen previous favorites from the past seasons against twelve new contestants (including Chris' former sidekick [[CampCook Chef Hatchet]]).
