Initially just a [[JumpedAtTheCall curious and eager]] seventeen-year-old adventurer, Jaina finds out that there is [[WrittenByTheWinners much more to Gielinor's history]] than she was raised to believe when she decides to free a legendary hero [[SealedBadassInACan trapped in a pyramid.]] The hero, [[HumanoidAliens Azzanadra,]] thanks her with magical knowledge and sparks her interest in the forgotten god Zaros. The two soon form a solid friendship, and Jaina secretly converts to Zarosianism under Azzanadra's guidance. However, their friendship does eventually grow into a mutual attraction, which Jaina [[InsecureLoveInterest tries to deny]]--at least, until she witnesses the murder of [[StopWorshippingMe the god of her childhood]] and the beginning of the Sixth Age, and is [[ChosenOne forced into a role]] [[RefusalOfTheCall she doesn't want to fulfill.]] Shocked and uncertain of what to do, she evades the forces of [[KnightTemplar Saradomin]] and [[SocialDarwinist Zamorak]] who are searching for her and turns to Azzanadra for support, becoming [[InterspeciesRomance romantically involved]] with him--but how is she going to keep that secret? Meanwhile, her archenemy and tormentor [[ManipulativeBastard Sliske]] is spying from the shadows, and he has a plan for her...

* CantSpitItOut: Jaina to Azzanadra in ''Heart to Heart.'' It’s obvious to anyone with ShippingGoggles that she likes him, in ''that'' way, but she simply couldn’t bring herself to spell it out for him. She gets better.

* WizardingSchool: Where Jaina learnt her skills, though she's always had a natural talent for magic, even before she enrolled in the Wizards' Tower. From there on, she studied at the Wizards' Guild in Yanille, where she became the [[TheAce youngest]] mage to ever earn the [[AndYourRewardIsClothes Skillscape of Magic.]]

* TheChewToy: Tiny Lucien, who is often tossed around unceremoniously by Jaina and serves as the ''literal chew toy'' for TzRek-Jad.

* {{Druid}}: Jaina's mother Phrynna aka Yaketysax was one. Jaina herself is never referred to as such, but she does have some druidic skills, namely AnimalTalk and making potions.

* FluffyTamer: Jaina has an extensive collection of exotic pets, including [[FluffyTheTerrible TzRek-Jad,]] and can [[AnimalTalk understand their speech.]] She is implied to have inherited the talent from her mother, a [[SummonMagic master summoner.]]

* PunnyName: [[SoundtrackDissonance/YaketySax Yaketysax the druidess,]] Jaina’s mother.

* FluffyTamer: Jaina has an extensive collection of exotic pets, including [[FluffyTheTerrible TzRek-Jad,]] and can understand their speech. She is implied to have inherited the talent from her mother, a [[SummonMagic master summoner.]]

** Azzanadra also calls her out for [[spoiler: omitting the dark shard from Seren. Since she did so out of concern for their children’s lives, she snaps and delivers a WhatTheHellHero of her own right back to him.]]

* WouldHurtAChild: Moia in ''Spark of Chaos'' threatens to throw Julia--a five-year-old from Yanille she's keeping hostag--out of the Empyrean Citadel (and it's a long way down) if Jaina doesn't agree to help Zamorak with the heist of the Stone.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: In ''Lumbridge Over Troubled Waters'', which takes place just after the Battle of Lumbridge begins, Jaina (unlike the PlayerCharacter in the actual game, who didn’t have much of a reaction) is devastated at the fact the god of her childhood, Guthix died, and with having to choose between two gods she despises, both of whom are contributing to the destruction of her hometown. Needless to say, she sheds many tears.

* WouldHurtAChild: Moia threatens to do this to a five-year-old hostage if Jaina doesn't agree to help Zamorak with the heist of the Stone.

** [[spoiler: To put it in perspective, in ''Cakes and Tea'' she threatens [[BloodKnight the Raptor]] of all people, ''just'' for calling her unborn children bawling brats.]]

* NoodleIncident: What happened to Sir Owen after ''The Death of Chivalry'' quest. Since the sequel to that quest had yet to be released at the time of writing, the events that might have transpired are left to the reader's imagination so that he can appear in ''Gathering Secrets.'' It's not entirely ambiguous as to what happened, however--he did somehow lose an arm.

* AdaptationExpansion: “Rising in the East” is full of it. For one, Jaina sets foot on the Eastern island of Dhar Pei in the Loop and gets to see what their culture’s like first hand.
* ADayInTheLimelight: ‘‘Divine Concerns’’ where Henry, Jaina’s brother is the main focus. After disguising himself as a Kinshra knight and following Sir Owen and Jaina over to the Third Age Cavern where he witnesses the former being revived with a zombie arm, he gets into a discussion with Saradomin, and is given the task of convincing her not to stay with the Zarosians.
** ‘‘Fraternal Instincts’’ too, as it deals mostly with Henry searching for Jaina, finding her with Azzanadra, and then getting over-protective when he realises they’re dating.
*** Akthanakos gets a good deal of focus in “Cakes and Tea,” although the perspective is still Jaina’s.
*** “Rising in the East” has Tomlin the Missionary as a major focus. He comes into conflict with Jaina when he decides to raid a Zarosian temple in the Eastern Lands.

** Azzanadra has this as well, most prominently seen in "First Snow." He even tutors her personally.

* BigBrotherInstinct: Henry in ‘‘Fraternal Instincts.’’ Despite being younger than Jaina, he tries his best to look after her.

* CanonForeigner: Coeli, Azzanadra’s pet griffin from the Second Age, who now serves as Jaina’s mount in the present age.

* CantSpitItOut: Jaina to Azzanadra in ‘‘Heart to Heart.’’ It’s obvious to anyone with ShippingGoggles that she likes him, in ‘‘that’’ way, but she simply couldn’t bring herself to spell it out for him. She gets better.

* DanceOfRomance: Jaina and Azzanadra share one for the first time in “Waiting for the Lord’s Return,” and they slow dance together again in “Secret Union.”
* DidTheEarthMoveForYouToo: Mahjarrat have a custom of mating during earthquakes, which Jaina finds out about by surprise in "Culture Shock."

** Jaina herself isn’t above such prejudice, as shown in “For Gods and Country” with her fearful attitude towards vampyres, and how she believes that she will find Azzanadra’s true appearance hideous and frightening.

** She did, however, struggle to move on from Brand’s death at first, even feeling incredibly guilty when she remembers TheirFirstTime in “Waiting for the Lord’s Return.”
* {{Flashback}}: ‘‘It Started With A Dress” has a few, where Jaina recounts her encounter with an armoured adventurer who sold her some Third Age mage robes, and her adventures in the Kharidian desert, in which she’s sent to retrieve four special diamonds for the desert bandits, in order to free their trapped hero, who turns out to be Azzanadra.
** “First Snow” also features a few, with Azzanadra recalling the early days of his time in the empire and how he saw snow for the first time.
** “Vital Discussion” has a one that goes back to Jaina, the Guardians of Guthix, the Zarosians and Zilyana in Guthix’s resting cave, where they all argue over what to do next--leave Guthix be, wake him or kill him.

** The third part of “Secret Union” has Jaina remembering a Guthixian wedding she attended in Taverley with her family when she was seven.

** Even her conventionally cuter pets prove to be [[KillerRabbit a formidable force]] in “A Visit Home” where they all team up to drive a Zamorakian spy from her home and throw him unceremoniously into the flowerbed outside.

* IdiotHero: Jaina’s brother Henry, he seems like he’d be right at home as the protagonist of a shonen manga. He acts/talks before he thinks, is on the HotBlooded side and is always up for a fight (even if his opponent in question is stronger, as seen with his eagerness to fight Azzanadra in ‘‘Fraternal Instincts’’). Despite this, he has good intentions and only wants what’s best for Jaina.
* IKnowWhatYouFear: Sliske traps Jaina in an illusory nightmare sequence in “Spark of Chaos,” forcing her to endure several of her fears. The final stretch of it has her threatened with her greatest fear: [[MageKiller archers,]] carrying crossbows loaded with [[AntiMagic bakriminel bolts,]] which are designed specifically to kill mages.

* KillItWithIce: Jaina [[RoaringRampageofRevenge attempts to do this]] to the Zamorakians in “Spark of Chaos” when she [[UnstoppableRage draws upon the Stone’s power,]] and also declares that this is how she will kill Sliske. She may have [[DeathByAdaptation actually done it]] to [[spoiler: Jerrod,]] although it’s [[HesJustHiding left ambiguous]] as to whether or not he died of his wounds.
* LighterAndSofter: Than the game itself, although there are still plenty of disturbing moments, such as [[spoiler: Sliske’s experiment]] and [[spoiler: Jaina’s fear that Seren will want to kill her unborn children if she returns the dark shard to her.]] Still, the disturbing and dramatic parts tend to be balanced out by the hopeful and fluffy moments. Even “Spark of Chaos,” which has Jaina blackmailed into working with half her worst enemies and forced to endure an illusory nightmare sequence, includes a warm and tender moment towards the end.

* MySisterIsOffLimits: Henry’s initial reaction at the sight of Jaina and Dr. Nabanik talking and flirting in ‘‘Fraternal Instincts.’’

* UnreliableNarrator: Saradomin in ‘‘Divine Concerns’’ when he tells Henry of how he had to team up with his ArchEnemy Zamorak to wipe out all memory of Zaros, the so called “Great Evil.”

* VillainousCrush: Sliske does seem to be rather creepily obsessed with Jaina, [[spoiler: going as far as to magically experiment on her so that she will be able to conceive a half-Mahjarrat child. He even states in "Growing Pains" that for this reason, he believes he should be considered her children's father, and that she and her children will have to accept him.]]

* PimpedOutDress: Jaina’s wedding dress. Because it doesn’t resemble the white wedding dresses typically worn in the Fifth Age, the Digsite workers don’t realize what occasion it’s for when they see her in it.
