* TakeThat: The Loki-centric chapter of The Odious Overtakers, starts with Loki happily taking the souls of a group of fans calling themselves the Coven of Loki, who believe him to be a misunderstood, tragic character a victim of abuse from Odin & Thor. The mischievous God proudly declares that he is neither a victim nor a trauma survivor, but someone who chose to become evil and seek power for his own greed.

* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/42023760/chapters/105508425 Reverse the Moon and Sun]]'', an ongoing story in which [[WesternAnimation/CinderellaIIIATwistInTime Lady Tremaine]], [[ComicBook/CaptainMarvelKellyThompson Ove]], and [[VideoGame/MarvelUltimateAlliance Baron Mordo]] use the Book of Caligostro to form a TimeTravel-focused offshoot of the Overtakers at Maleficent's direction.

The trilogy also spawned an ongoing spinoff fanfiction set after the events of the main trilogy:

* SinisterMinister: Steve becomes one in Radiant Garden during the later chapters of the first story as part of an effort to reshape public opinion of the Overtakers, and continues in the role throughout most of ''All the Forces of Evil''.

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Steve, Ursula, and Fish manage to rework the Overtakers' reputation among the citizens of Radiant Garden from villains to saviors, and the effort continues in ''Villains of A Sotr''. [[spoiler: It falls apart when Russell impulsively lets all the inmates out of Radiant Garden's prison to RapePillageAndBurn and brags about it on live TV]].

* EvilVsOblivion: The conflict against the [[EldritchAbomination Great Old Ones]] in ''All the Forces of Evil'' hinges on this.

* EvilVsEvil: Between Xehanort, the Cult of Cronus, the Sorcerers' Society, and the Great Old Ones, Maleficent's Overtakers are shown spending more time fighting other villains than they are fighting any heroes.

* LargeHam: most, if not all, of the Overtakers are this, as are villains in several other factions. Lampshaded in ''Villains of A Sort'' Chapter 29:

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Steve, Ursula, and Fish manage to rework the Overtakers' reputation among the citizens of Radiant Garden from villains to saviors, and the effort continues in ''All the Forces of Evil''. Working in the shadows to avoid interference from Organization XIII, the group quickly expands to include villains from multiple different franchises. And as they build towards their goal of ultimate conquest of reality, they find themselves facing opposition not only from their respective heroic adversaries, but from rival villainous factions as well.

* HopelessWithTech: Many Overtakers from more medieval worlds lack any understanding of technology from more modern onces. Something which gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in Doom's Chapter of ''The Odious Overtakers''.

And the cast list only grows in the sequels.

* TheStinger: The final chapter of ''All the Forces of Evil'' has an epilogue scene in which [[spoiler: Xemnas negotiates an alliance with Nicnevan with one of the Gems of Chronus]].
