* OutGambitted: Happens to Team Shadow during their invasion of the Crystal Empire. [[spoiler:Sombra enters the Crystal Empire without any suspicion due to being on good terms with everyone, and secretly installs a virus in Androrg that messes with its security list, allowing Chrysalis and the grunts to invade. They then try to obtain the Heart Fragment of the Crystal Heart, contained in two cases. They use Sombra to their advantage during this, with him taking the cases and planning to give them to any of his grunts and make it look like they were stolen, and Chrysalis later pretending to threaten his life to the others in exchange for the cases. In the end, although Chrysalis gets away with the cases, Shining and Cadance already thought ahead and hid the Heart Fragments somewhere else, meaning the cases were empty the whole time and the whole battle was just buying Cadance time to remove the virus and get Androrg and the Guardroids back on their side so Team Shadow could not immediately attack again after realizing they were tricked, or try the same trick in the future. The only silver lining for Team Shadow is that Sombra managed to keep his cover, with nobody realizing he is the leader of Team Shadow.]]

* GondorCallsForAid: At the climax of the Team Shadow storyline, [[spoiler:Flash realizes that Sombra, in his [[EldritchTransformation monstrous titan form]], can defeat anyone in Equestria, but he can't defeat ''everyone''. He sends a video message to every television screen in the region, telling them he needs them to transport to the Crystal Empire and help him, his friends, and the Gym Leaders defeat Sombra. The result is an entire army of trainers arriving to help; including Lightning Blitz, all their friends, some people they have only met once or twice, and trainers they have never even seen before]].

* ChekhovsGun: The professors experiment with the Transport Tiles in the Crystal Empire, and manage to hack them to create a teleport system with them, managing to transport Sunset Shimmer from Canterlot City to the Crystal Empire. [[spoiler:After the heralds reveal Sombra's identity as the leader of Team Shadow to Flash, Twilight, and Doc, they contact the professors, they instruct Doc how to reconfigure the Pokémon transporters in the Pokémon Center to transport the mall back to the Crystal Empire. Later, when Flash [[GondorCallsForAid calls on every trainer in Equestria to help him stop Sombra]], instructions are sent to every Pokémon Center on how to reconfigure their transporters to teleport trainers to the Crystal Empire.]]

* CripplingOverspecialization: This is a lesson Shining Armor teaches Flash in "Shrieking a Different Lesson". One of the biggest weaknesses Springer has is that he only knows Fighting and Normal type moves, which means he is completely helpless against Ghost types, since neither of those moves have any effect on them. Shining explains Flash should have taught Springer other moves so he isn't ''completely'' helpless against Ghost types. He furthur explains this is a lesson every trainer who has Normal, Fighting, Electric, Ghost, Psychic, Ground, Poison and Dragon-types should consider, because all of those types of Pokémon, have at least one other type that are immune to their normal attacks. Flash and Springer overcome this [[spoiler:when Springer learns the Ground type move Bone Rush]].

* TheGlomp: Sonata does this to Flash when she sees him in "The Ocean Champion", tackling him to the ground in a hug.

Every one hundred years, a portal opens up to reveal a certain egg. Inside is a Pokémon with great power, which is now being targeted by a great evil. Now, its up to our heroes and their new friend to save it before the evil can use it to gain unlimited power. It was completed on December 15th, 2018.

''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/461446/pokemon-the-movie-voice-of-the-ocean Pokémon the Movie: Voice of the Ocean]]'' is the second "movie" in the series, taking place between "Grand Champion" and "Climbing the Mountain" of ''Pokémon: Equestrian Adventures''. Vocanctus, a city on the ocean protected by a Legendary Pokémon. Every year, a festival is held to give thanks to that Pokémon and prayers for another year of protection. But as the celebration begins again, dark and dangerous forces look to cause mayhem and take the power of this Pokémon for themselves. To stop it, our heroes must help a young girl overcome her demons and find her voice once again. If they can't, the whole region will soon find itself facing great peril. It was completed on August 29th, 2020.

* CombatPragmatist: Wingill and Fin fight this way throughout the Ocean Champion Tournament. The rules are whoever is remaining on the platform when time is up is the winner, but rather than fight their opponents in a straight battle, they throw the opposing Reptidals into the water and then freeze it with Ice Beam, preventing them from getting out in time and thus them becoming the winners with minimum effort. They are continually called out on this, but even though it is looked down on as dirty the judges don't rule it as cheating.

* PokemonSpeak: Duh. Although, starting in ''Equestrian Adventures'' there are a few scenes where what the Pokémon are saying are translated for the reader, usually when there are no humans around.
* PragmaticFighter: Chrysalis realizes that she and Doom are not going to defeat [[spoiler:the three Heralds of Alicormony]] in a straightforward fight, even with a few Grunts assisting them. So instead, Chrysalis traps them using some Energy Trap devices.

** An Avalanche Sled Race takes place in "Well Sled", with the winner getting an Ice Stone. [[spoiler:Double Diamond and his Frostoak win.]]

** The story of how Doc met and fixed Tockwork is similar to [[Animation/CubixRobotsForEveryone Cubix]], where a boy attempts to fix a supposedly "unfixable" machine and develops a bond with it in the process, with the machine finally springing to life to save his new friend.

** The penultimate event of the Camp Everfree arc is "The Pokémon Triathlon". Each camp runs a race with one of their Pokémon, while solving puzzles and answering questions at three checkpoints. Since Twilight was injured the previous day, Timber runs the race in her place for her, while wearing a special camera so she can see the competition and give him her answers for the puzzles and questions. The top three racers who score the most points for their respective cabins are [[spoiler:Timber Spruce, Flash Sentry, and Rainbow Dash]].

** The train employees the gang meet in "Getting Back On Track" share names with characters from WesternAnimation/ThomasTheTankEngine

** A Shoot Race takes place in "Racing Towards Your True Potential". [[spoiler:Flash and Hopper win, narrowly defeating Track Starr and his Manectric in the final stretch thanks to Hopper evolving.]]
** The Great Cloudsdale Race, one of Cloudsdale's biggest annual events, takes place in "Cloudsdale Sky-Racers". [[spoiler:Rainbow Dash and Wondor end up tying with Soarin Skies and his Staraptor.]]

** An Avalanche Sled Race takes place in "Well Sled", with the winner getting an Ice Stone. [[spoiler:Double Diamond and his Frostoak win.]]

* MundaneObjectAmazment: The people of Yona's village don't use any technology, except for their own self-made Pokeballs. So, when Yona sees Flash use his Pokedex she looks at it in shock and amazement, calling it a "magic talky box".

* RightForTheWrongReasons: When everyone finds a device that installed a virus into Androrg that messed with the security list in its systems, causing it and the Guardroids to attack them, Twilight guesses that someone must have secretly snuck the device on Androrg. She is correct, but assumes it happened last night when it was dark, or that someone knocked out Androrg to put the device on it. In reality, Sombra secretly put the device on Androrg shortly after arriving in the Crystal Empire, slipping it on while in plain sight of everyone.

** Played with in "Alter of Summons". [[spoiler:Though Team Shadow only has half of the Crystal Heart, due to Chrysalis failing to obtain the second half from the Crystal Empire, they are able to use the half they have to gain access to the Altar of Summons. When the three Heralds of Alicormony, Pegasoar, Mysticorn, and Horsearth try to stop them, Chrysalis manages to capture them in some Energy Traps. Despite this victory against the Legendaries though, and discovering the Altar still works properly, they are still stuck at the moment, being unable to proceed without the other fragment, and are unaware that Flash and his friends are on their way to their location.]]

* VillainEpisode: "Alter of Summons" focuses on Team Shadow, with Chrysalis and Doom Raizer investigating the Altar of Summons and [[spoiler:battling three Legendary Pokémon]]. Flash and his friends still show up, but are only in the B-Plot of the chapter.

* NoNameGiven: The thief in "The Desert Bandits" never reveals his name in the chapter.

** Coco's Feebas, Fee-Fee, evolving into Milotic after Coco shows her kindness and makes her feel beautiful after Suri mocks it for being "ugly", is similar to an episode from ''Pokémon Jouneys'' and the Pokémon Ruby manga, where a young girl's Feebas she nicknames Feeby, evolves into Milotic when she protects it from harm after defending it was called "ugly" by her friends.

** Springer is noted to be special because he is a Riolu that knows Aura Sphere, which is a move that should be impossible for Riolu to learn until they evolve in Lucario. Later, [[spoiler:Springer also learns Extreme Speed, another move that should be impossible for him until he evolves]].

** The way that Applejack hasBrawloey defeat Trixie's Magitual, by pointing out that only the real one has a shadow, is just like how Agunimon defeated Wizardmon in ''Anime/DigimonFrontier''.
