* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Lolo delivers a pretty brutal one to Emmi near the end of the story, about how the latter does what she can to stay on top of everyone else, out of fear for being seen as weak by her peers. She then caps it off by ''thanking'' Emmi for inadvertently helping her grow into a better person. Emmi does ''not'' take this kindly.

* AdaptationalExplanation: This story is written to provide a reason for why Lolo has her feather back in ''Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament'' despite still being a priestess-in-training.
* CurseCutShort: Popka falls victim to this twice.
** He attempts to curse out [[AlphaBitch Emmi]] for harassing Lolo, but the latter stops him, saying she can't deal with it tonight.
** While bringing up Lolo's lack of motivation with the High Priestess shortly afterward, he almost notes the priestess trio harassed the hell out of the former, but he stops himself [[GoshDangItToHeck and switches to ''heck'' instead]] after remembering he's talking to a religious authority figure.
* GirlPosse: [[AlphaBitch Emmi]] and her companions, who continue to torment Lolo over her struggle to become a priestess again.
* GoodLuckCharm: The High Priestess explains to Popka that whenever she struggled in her training, she would look at a family photo in her locket, reminding her of what she hoped to achieve. With her permission, Popka gives Lolo a leaf he bought from a nearby market for her to put on her hat, hoping it gives her the same confidence boost.
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: While confronted by [[AlphaBitch Emmi]] and [[GirlPosse her lackeys]], Lolo has to insist that Klonoa isn't her boyfriend.
* ParentalAbandonment: The High Priestess doesn't know who the infant King of Sorrow's parents are; she just found him alone in the Terminus of Tears just after the events of ''VideoGame/Klonoa2LunateasVeil'' [[ParentalSubstitute and raised him ever since.]]
* ParentNeverCameBackFromTheStore: Upon seeing the High Priestess with an infant (though before he knew the infant was actually the King of Sorrow), Popka sarcastically asks if the baby's dad left to get milk. The former is not amused.
* TimeSkip: After Lolo gets her GoodLuckCharm from Popka, the story skips ahead a year to show us how much her skills have improved.

!!This series contains examples of:
[[folder:Treason]]
* AdaptationalExplanation: The whole point of this story is to provide an explanation for why Huepow is with Klonoa in ''Empire of Dreams'', despite the two of them being separated in ''VideoGame/KlonoaDoorToPhantomile''.
* CatapultNightmare:
** The story kicks off with Huepow having a GuiltInducedNightmare about his separation from Klonoa, ending with him being attacked by a giant, winged monster. Also serves as a ''literal'' catapult, as it was Bagoo using ''this'' nightmare to catapult Huepow into the Empire of Jillius.
** A second one occurs during Huepow's reunion with Klonoa. After the two make peace in the latter's dream, the same winged monster makes to attack them... but before either of them can stop it, Huepow wakes up once again. Unbeknownst to either of them, Bagoo used this dream to drag ''Klonoa'' into the Empire as well.
* DreamWalker: While Huepow is under Jillius' imprisonment, Bagoo offers to help him reach out to Klonoa through the latter's dream. Though skeptical, Huepow uses this as a chance to try and make amends with his old friend.
* GuiltInducedNightmare: Near the beginning of the first chapter, Huepow has a dream where Klonoa berates him for betraying him in ''Door to Phantomile'', which the former had trouble coming to terms with ever since.
* NotInKansasAnymore: Upon being dragged out of his bedroom by Jillius' guards, Huepow notices that instead of going through the Cressian palace, his room opened up outside, as though his door was the front door of a house. Upon seeing a palace that made Cress look like a small cottage, he knows he's not in Phantomile anymore.

[[folder:His Mother's Eyes]]
* CatapultNightmare: This is how Elise finds out Klonoa is a Dream Traveller, as one morning, she heard Klonoa crying harder than he ever cried before, having just woken up from the events of ''VideoGame/KlonoaDoorToPhantomile''.
* ChildrenDoTheHousework: Once Klonoa turned 7, Elise started teaching him how to clean, make simple meals, tend to their garden, etc. Though she's worried she's forcing the boy to grow up too fast, she still sees it as a necessity for when Klonoa has to raise himself after her eventual passing.
* DeathByChildbirth: Lorna, Elise's daughter, dies moments after giving birth to Klonoa.
* DoorstopBaby: Klonoa's father, Solas, leaves him on Elise's doorstep a few days after his birth, as Solas can't look at his child without thinking about his now-late wife.
* FamilyEyeResemblance: Solas notes that Klonoa has his mother Lorna's eyes, citing this as the reason why the former can't look at his child after his wife's death.
* FollowInMyFootsteps: During his childhood, Elise taught Klonoa how to earn a living by growing crops and selling them at the market, just as his parents did before him, as well as [[HeroicLineage how his role as a Dream Traveller was passed down from generation to generation.]]
* HeroicLineage: According to this fic, Klonoa inherited his dream travelling abilities from his late mother, who originally inherited them from her father, and so on.
* NestedStoryReveal: The last chapter reveals that the now-adult Klonoa was reading these diary entries 14 years after Elise's death.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Elise outlives her daughter, Lorna. The former makes a point that she NeverGotToSayGoodbye, and that no parent should ''ever'' have to go through this.
* RaisedByGrandparents: This entire story focus on Elise documenting how she raised Klonoa for the first twelve years of his life up until her death.
* UnintentionalFinalMessage: {{Averted|Trope}}; as Elise felt herself getting weaker with age, she decided to address her last entry specifically to Klonoa, correctly predicting that he would find and read her diaries once he grew up.
