* DramaticStutter: Nyx always speaks with a harsh stutter, often stuttering the same syllable four or five times before getting the words out.

* FunPersonified: Amaterasu is this. She's described as warm and cuddly and constantly radiates warmth wherever she goes. She leads the Sun Faction, which wants the Far East to open its borders, support the weak, and spread happiness throughout the world. She's also doting and friendly toward Haruhime, insisting that she be liberated from her noble duties and be allowed to have fun as a child for once.
* GildedCage: Haruhime is noble girl of high standing due to being born into the Sanjouno family. But she's constantly locked in her family's luxurious estate due to her importance as its heir and her powerful support spell in Uchide no Kozuchi. Bell is the first one to dare to try and sneak her out, much to her father's outrage and Amaterasu's amusement. She even refers to it as such while expressing her desire to become more than a defenseless princess.

* ImmortalImmaturity: Amaterasu's fun-loving and tomboyish personality comes in stark contrast to the position she holds in real mythology as the highest god in Shinto mythology. She hates courtly etiquette and often speaks far more casually than she should, and she's so enraged when Haruhime's father disowns her that Amaterasu rolls up her sleeves and prepares to beat the crap out of him for it.

* LargeAndInCharge:
** The Legiones is 190 cm (6'2'') and the Imperial Legate of Rakia, making his word second only to the royal family's and Ares' while handling most of the day-to-day matters and commanding its regular conquests of nearby territories.
** Odin looms over Bell when standing upright and has to kneel down to get to Bell's eye level. He's also the head of one of the largest and most powerful familia in Altena.
* LargeHam: The Legiones introduces himself with a booming voice that terrifies Bell, the birds, and even the plants, not simply walking into the scene but leaping into it with a thunderous crash.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Bell is frequently on the receiving end of the positive version of this. His good deeds and kind personality earn him glowing praise from Kojiro's companions as well as all sorts of neat gifts and perks, such as the Daisho given to him by Ryoma for befriending Haruhime. He also gets the VIP treatment in Altena for defending Odin during a terrorist attack, earning a free stay in Odin's familia hall as well as the opportunity to meet the Valkyries and the visiting Radiance. He even gets free magic lessons that let him develop his own super short chant magic before he ever gets a falna.
* LightIsGood: Amaterasu lives and breathes this trope. She's a sun goddess, warm, motherly, peace-seeking, and fun-loving. She's the most unambiguously good god in the Far East, and she instantly offers Bell a chance to get a falna on the spot, no questions asked.

* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: Ryoma is a formidable Level 4 Adventurer and a MasterSwordsman, but he's small pickings compared to his companion and lover Oryou, who is feared as the Level 6 Mizuchi.

* NaiveNewcomer: Bell is a sheltered FarmBoy with little knowledge of the outside world and only his grandpa and stories to teach him morals. Because of this, he explores every new locale with wide-eyed wonder. On multiple occasions, his naivety gets him into trouble with the locals until Kojiro bails him out.
* NervesOfSteel: Kojiro never, ever loses his cool, chatting casually with Bell even after murdering three men who were beating the boy up. Learning that Haruhime had been kidnapped under his watch only gets Kojiro to wave off the matter as he continues with a casual smile. He also has no problems walking right up to the Legiones, whose raw charisma and presence give Bell the urge to get down on his knees, and shaking his hand, even as a small army demands he show respect.
* NiceGuy:
** Bell is an almost effortlessly selfless and kind young man. He's always thinking of others before himself, can't help but [[AlwaysSaveTheGirl try to save a distressed damsel]], and is distressed when Kojiro kills others even if those people were trying to kill him first.
** Ryoma is a good man who'd like nothing more than for everyone to be happy. To this end, he and Oryou do their best to defuse tensions and keep the peace in the Far East.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: Bell puts up a pretty good showing against a Level 1 adventurer in a spar despite lacking a falna himself. He's about to pat himself on the back for it when he learns that Kojiro has already knocked out five Level 1 adventurers. The only reason he hadn't knocked out more is because they were too scared to challenge him. The sight of this leaves Bell frustrated at the gap in their abilities.

* PositiveFriendInfluence: Bell's admiration for Kojiro and pure, honest desire to learn from him and become a hero embarrasses Kojiro to the point that he decides to act more like the hero Bell envisions him as, defending Bell and those he cares about from harm, giving him genuinely good advice, and beginning to care more about his image so he won't bring shame on Bell.
* PostVictoryCollapse: Bell is exhausted after killing the man holding Haruhime hostage and collapses into her arms. But fighting go on around him is so intense that he doesn't actually pass out until Oryou deals with Araki.

* RavenHairIvorySkin: Oryou has pale skin and long, flowing black hair. While she'd be beautiful at any other time, this, [[RedEyesTakeWarning along with her red eyes]] makes her downright horrifying when she's truly angry.

* RightMakesMight: According to Haruhime, Oryou says that that this is the reason for her and Ryoma's strength. Even if he desires peace, it's meaningless unless they have the strength to protect it.

* SamusIsAGirl: Bell is initially unsure of the Radiance's gender, as aside from the blue skirt-like cloth near the bottom, her figure and face were obscured by her armor and helmet. It takes Kojiro splitting that helmet in two to reveal her true gender as well as her identity as [[spoiler:Artoria Pendragon]].
* ScaledUp: The magic spell Oryou is using when she confronts Araki is returning her to her true form as the Serpent of Takachiho, but Ryoma stops her and calms her down before she lays waste to the entire city.

* ShrinkingViolet: Nyx is shy and always stuttering from nervousness. Her voice comes out in a low reverberating whisper and she's spooked too after Bell jumps from having her whisper in his ear during their trip to Rakia.

* SimultaneousBladeSpam:
** Shinjiro the "Wind Blade" is known for his mastery of Shohato, a technique that allows him to swing twice in almost the same instant. Kojiro one-ups him in their duel with his Tsubame Gaeshi, swinging three times in the same instant to completely deny any possibility of escape.
** Under Odin and Brunhilde's tutelage, Bell develops his own congenital magic, Dragon Fang, that causes a phantom figure to mimic his sword swing like the closing jaws of a dragon. Its similarities to Kojiro's Tsubame Gaeshi do not go unnoticed.

escape.

* SirSwearsALot: Despite her gentle, serene public persona, Brunhilde's true personality is coarse and gritty, swearing up a storm wherever she goes.

* {{Stripperific}}: Elves usually cover themselves up, only showing their bare skin besides their faces to those they truly respect and trust. [[TheTease Lusserina]] does not. Her dress has an ImpossiblyLowNeckline that leaves her shoulders and the upper part of her chest bare and the only thing covering her thighs and hips are the books hanging at her waste and some purple panties.
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: Discussed. When Bell manages to develop and use a unique congenital magic spell on his first try, Brunhilde is dumbstruck and demands to know if he has any elves, spirits, or powerful mages like the Silence in his bloodline. Bell is too stunned to speak, but thinks that such a thing as impossible. [[spoiler:In actuality, the Silence is his aunt, Alfia, who he never met as she died years when he was still a young boy.]]
* SuperReflexes: Even while constrained to an unblessed human body, Kojiro's raw skill and experience lets him react to and parry away attacks that would normally be too fast for him to see. This is most notable when he challenges the Radiance to a duel, as her movement practically resembled teleportation to Bell, yet Kojiro was still able to react quickly enough to counterattack and split her helmet in two despite the sheer disparity in speed and power (albeit, neither of them were going for the kill).
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Lusserina Luzumin is the Empire's strongest mage and is known as the "Witch of Flowers", much like Nasuverse Merlin's epithet as the "Magus of Flowers". She even specializes in support magic. [[spoiler:It's little wonder that she's accompanying Artoria on their trip to Altena.]] Lampshaded by Kojiro, who asks if there's any relation between her and "him". The Radiance scoffs at this, calling her adorable next to "him".
* SwordBeam: The Radiance's ultimate spell is this, unleashing a massive beam of energy from her sword to annihilate anything in front of it. Rather than a spell to wipe out armies like a mage or a spell to turn the tide of a duel like Bell's Dragon Fang, it's specialized in completely destroying a single, enormous target. Bell thinks that even a Monster Rex wouldn't be able to stand up to the light of this spell. [[spoiler:It's Excalibur's thing after all.]]
* SympatheticSlaveOwner: [[spoiler:Romulus describes the people he captured for use as labor in Rakia as vassals rather than slaves. He also swears to Bell that they will not be used as tools and will instead be treated as individuals who will one day become part of Roma, albeit they have no real say in the matter. This does little to assuage Bell's misgivings, and Romulus accepts that Bell doesn't agree with his viewpoint and doesn't begrudge him for it.]]
* TakeOverTheWorld: The goal of both Rakia and The Empire is to have the entire world under its banner. The Legiones believes in this too, as only then can he lead the world to the stars [[spoiler:as part of his beloved Rome]].
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: It doesn't really settle in for Bell until after he leaves Rakia, but learning about what made the Legiones a hero to Rakia makes Bell wonder if he'd do it again, and if [[ItGetsEasier it will get easier for him to justify murder]] over time. Kojiro doesn't exactly comfort him about it, but does tell him that only he can decide what he thinks is right and what he can live with.
* TheTease: Lusserina purposefully wears {{Stripperific}} clothing to tease others stealing looks at her, winking at Bell and giving him a playful smirk when he catches him staring at her. She also pinches his cheeks while cooing about how cute he is, only stopping when her superior reminds Lusserina that she has a boyfriend at home. That said, she seems to be vulnerable to honesty, as when the Radiance calls her adorable, Lusserina finds herself blushing and speechless.
* TeenGenius: Bell finds that he has a knack for magic when Odin gets Brunhilde to teach him, succeeding at creating his own magic after his first meditation session when it normally takes months or even years of practice to create and perform congenital magic.
* TemptingFate: After a relatively uneventful and relaxing stay in Rakia, Bell comes to the conclusion that he wouldn't ever run into another ordeal like the plot against Haruhime in Altena. Sure enough, the concert he's attending is attacked by god-hating terrorists.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Oryou frequently speaks in the third person, referring to herself as "Oryou" and proudly presenting Haruhime to Bell as "Oryou Special Delivery".
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Oryou's is whole frogs, to the point that Ryoma believes that the local frog population has gone extinct thanks to her.

* UnderestimatingBadassery: Due to his painfully drab wardrobe and lack of a falna, Kojiro tends to get written off as a {{mook}} by low-level adventurers. His skill with the sword quickly teaches them that this is a mistake, often their last.

* UnskilledButStrong:
** Thanks to her absurd strength and defense, Oryou has no need for martial technique when she can crush nearly anything in a flurry of punches. The only reason why a temporarily leveled up Araki is able to survive against her is because of his martial skill, and when she stops holding back she quickly makes a crater in his face.
** Kojiro is so skilled that nearly anyone he faces ends up looking like this next to him. He's noticeably disappointed during his duel with Shinjiro that despite the latter's reputation as a MasterSwordsman, he repels most of Kojiro's attakcs through speed rather than raw skill and swordsmanship.

* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Oryou is deeply in love with Ryoma and has deep-seated trauma over failing to protect him in life. Because of this, she flies into an UnstoppableRage when he discovers that he's been injured in her absence, and would have returned to her original form and slaughtered everyone present had he not calmed her down in time.

* AchievementsInIgnorance: Aside from months of practice meditating with Kojiro prior, Bell manages to utilize magic on his first try despite being a complete novice at it. Not only that, but his new spell, Dragon Fang, requires no chant despite having a significant effect that will only grow stronger with falna. He's unaware of how momentous this is until Brunhilde and Hrist explain it to him.

* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Bell set out on his adventures in hopes of a RescueRomance. So when Haruhime gets in trouble, he demands Kojiro help him save her even though the matter has nothing to do with them. He later stares down a guard for talking down to Nyx, even though it was completely pointless.
* AmusingInjuries: Bell is beaten unconscious by The Radiance in [[TrainingFromHell her attempts to teach him her brand of swordsmanship]]. It gets to the point that Bell's sense of danger has been heightened by the experience and he wants to leave Altena ASAP out of fear for his life. It's all PlayedForLaughs though.

* {{Bishonen}}: Bell has a cute face and is lean enough to fit into armor Welf designed for his little sister. Bell's pride is wounded by this, and he wishes he was taller and manlier instead. Odin says that between Bell's face and soul, he could easily become a WholesomeCrossdresser IdolSinger, though Bell quickly declines.

* DeclarationOfProtection: Much to the shock of his own soldiers, the Legiones declares that Bell and Kojiro are under his protection during their stay in Rakia, handing them a special gold coin as proof of this. While grateful for the honor, the same coin feels like a leaden weight in Bell's hands because of how it simultaneously paints a target on his back.

* FriendlessBackground:
** Having grown up in a secluded farm nestled in mountains, Bell grew up alone with his grandfather save for the rare visitor. Because of this, he dearly cherishes any friendships he makes and is worried that Kojiro doesn't see him as one.
** Nyx mentions having no real friends in the Upper World because of her ominous title as the goddess of night and she descended to the Lower World solely to make friends.

* GreenAroundTheGills: Bell discovers that he gets terribly seasick during his voyage to Rakia, hunching over the side of the boat and desperately trying not to puke twice until Nyx gives him some awful tasting but effective medicine to cure it.

* AHandfulForAnEye: While sparring with a soldier of Rakia, Bell finds himself on the backfoot and digs his swords into the sand to fling it at his opponent's eyes to try and take back the advantage. Bell still loses and gets knocked out cold, but the men around him praise him for holding his own despite not having a falna and don't seem to take issue with this bit of CombatPragmatism.
* HasAType: Bell realizes that he has a thing for [[AmazonChaser strong, independent women]] with golden blonde hair after meeting the Radiance, [[EatingTheEyeCandy staring speechlessly at her face]] until this is pointed out to him. Unfortunately, the "strong, independent" part means that [[HopelessSuitor Haruhime]] is off the list immediately, as he just cares for her [[JustFriends as his first friend]].

* AHeroToHisHometown: The Legiones is Rakia's national hero and great leader in its attempts to conquer more and more territory. He's revered as a kind and powerful figure able to inspire PatrioticFervor even in Welf, who left Rakia in canon because of his disgust for his family and the country. [[spoiler:By the end of Bell's stay in Rakia, it becomes painfully clear to him that Romulus' heroic status in Rakia is fueled by the spoils he brings back, including slaves. Romulus' genuine belief that his actions are for the betterment of mankind as Rakia's hero shakes Bell's idea of what a hero actually is.]]
* HeroesPreferSwords: Although he starts with a knife, Bell has been practicing his swordsmanship under Kojiro's tutelage and is skilled enough to at least hold his own against a Level 1 adventurer for a time.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: Kojiro comes from a time where murder, duels to the death, and calamity were common. Because of this, he feels nothing when killing others and tends to solve most of his problems with violence, whether it's slitting the throats of men trying to kill Bell or threatening to kill a man if he doesn't confess his crimes. Even after a hard-fought duel against a Level 2 adventurer that ends with the latter in pieces, Kojiro's only real reaction is satisfaction from achieving his Tsubame Gaeshi again. As Bell comes to grips with this, he starts to worry if Kojiro cares about him at all, though Kojiro's own perspective shows that he cares about Bell more than he ever thought he would.
* HeroicLineage: Although it's not directly acknowledged in the story, [[spoiler:Brunhilde asks if Bell has a powerful mage like the Silence, the most powerful human mage and an executive of the legendary Hera Famlia, in his bloodline. Bell has no knowledge of this, but Alfia is indeed Bell's aunt, and her talent for magic seems to have been passed down to him.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Bell has the morals of a storybook hero and is hard on himself because he doesn't live up to his own expectations or the feats of those around him like Kojiro. After developing magic on his first try, he's stunned by how much of a big deal Brunhilde makes out of it and is initially going to brush it off until Kojiro tells him to cut it out with the needless false humbleness.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Discussed. Kojiro says that he considers himself evil for killing so recklessly and frequently, as anyone who takes a life is evil in his view. But he also says that he doesn't particularly care what people call him until he sees the troubled look on Bell's face, so Kojiro amends that by saying that he cares a little now.

* ImagineSpot: Bell mentions having daydreams about the kind of a hero he wants to be, such as become a pirate who explores new lands and discovers new things ([[PiratesWhoDontDoAnything without all the actual piracy]]). His imagination is so strong that it helps him create his own magic on his first try.

* ImpliedLoveInterest: Its rather ambiguous, but when Bell talks to Nyx about his ideals, she states [[YouRemindMeOfX he reminds her of another God, Erebus]]. A God that she admits was one of the few she got along with and complimenting her. Where Bell notes she has some form of affection for the man as she states she wants matching rings with him.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: Lusserina's dress is described as leaving her shoulders as well as the upper part of her breasts completely bare.
* INeedToGoIronMyDog: When Bell is being dragged off by Brunhilde, he begs Kojiro for help. But Kojiro merely turns around and says that he has [[MythologyGag to go save France]], which even Bell knows is an [[BlatantLies obvious lie]] as there's no country in the world with a [[CassandraTruth name as fake sounding as "France"]].
* InnocenceLost: Bell's time in the Far East and Rakia lifts a "pretty veil" from his eyes. Being forced to murder a man to protect Haruhime and [[spoiler:learning that Rakia's glory and splendor is derived from the suffering of others]] leaves him wondering what a "hero" really is, and if he'd ever be willing to go to the same lengths as the Legiones to become one. It takes a pep talk from Nyx to snap him out of this funk and allow him to approach Yggdrasil with the same wonder he did in the Far East and Rakia.

him.

* KidSamurai: Due to being trained by Kojiro in the use of a sword, Bell is slowly becoming this, and Ryoma supports him by gifting him a high-quality katana and wakizashi for him to use.

* LackOfEmpathy: A swordsman only looking for a good fight, Kojiro doesn't particularly care for the squabbles of the countries he goes through and feels nothing when killing others, much to Bell's confusion and fear. Because of this, he sees no reason to get involved after Haruhime is kidnapped under their watch, but Bell's insistence that they rescue her gets him to come around.

* LethalChef: Downplayed. Welf serves Bell and Kojiro a meal as guests invited by the Legiones. While they enjoy it just fine, Kojiro is notably unimpressed with Welf's tea, especially when compared to the tea he and Bell enjoyed in the Far East.

* MagicallyIneptFighter: Kojiro has no interest in learning magic, telling Hrist as such when Odin orders her to give Kojiro and Bell lessons on creating their own spells. Unlike Bell's miraculously successful first attempt, Kojiro treats the meditation session as nothing more than a chance to relax.
* MagicKnight: Bell learns magic under Brunhilde's tutelage during his stay in Altena while continuing to polish his swordsmanship with Kojiro, turning him into this.
* MagneticHero:
** Bell's kindness, storybook-like sense of morality, and desire to do anything a hero would quickly make him allies throughout his travels. Kojiro in particular feels a desire to protect him and live up to Bell's heroic image of him when even the incredibly charismatic Ritsuka Fujimaru could not make Kojiro change his ways.
** Similarly, Ryoma's smooth-talking NiceGuy personality makes him an able mediator between the various factions of the Far East, defusing a potential CivilWar before it could start, with only Haruhime's kidnapping coming close to reigniting it.
** The Legiones also inspires intense loyalty from the soldiers of Rakia under his command, who all demonstrate the same PatrioticFervor he does. Just hearing his voice sends shivers downs Bell's spine, and meeting him in person gives Bell the urge to prostrate himself in the Legiones' presence. [[spoiler:After all, Romulus-Quirinus was the supreme god of Rome, so it's only natural that he'd have the same godly charisma even as an incarnated human.]] Even Welf, who hates Rakia in-canon, can't help but be moved by him. Kojiro lampshades it, saying that he has a way with words.

* MakeMeWannaShout: The Legiones' voice rattles Bell's bones, sends birds flying away in terror, and makes even the grass shudder.

* MasterOfAll: ''All'' of the Radiance stats are maxed out as a Level 7 Adventurer. This is on top of having a ludicrously powerful attack spell, an incredibly strong barrier spell, the ability to expend Mind for a massive increase in her already impressive physical ability, and an Excelia booster that accelerates her growth even more. She has no glaring weaknesses and is a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut capable of taking down a Demi-Spirit on her own. [[spoiler:After all, she's Artoria Pendragon, the King of Knights and one of the strongest summonable Servants.]]
* MenDontCry: When Welf tells Bell that he'll go far as an adventurer, he struggles not to burst into TearsOfJoy on the spot, telling himself that he's a grown boy and turning his tears into a giddy smile.
* MentorArchetype: Kojiro serves as this for Bell, drilling him in swordsmanship and serving as a guide and bodyguard as he travels the world.
* MetaPowerUp: Uchide no Kozuchi is a unique spell that can temporarily level up an adventurer, making them dramatically more powerful than they already were. This spell is the reason why Haruhime is so desired and feared, and her presence alone threatens the balance of power in the Far East, hence Susanoo's and Tsukuyomi's desire to be rid of her. That said, it's far from absolute, and Oryou easily defeats Araki after purposefully having Haruhime use it on him to give him a HopeSpot.

* MuscleAngst: Bell is only fourteen and 5'5'', making him above-average height for his age, but still shorter and slimmer than many of the warriors and adventurers around him. He takes issue with this when Welf points out that his Pyonkichi armor is for those with "smaller statures", wishing he was tall and manly instead. Bell is even more distraught when Welf says that he originally designed this armor for his little sister prior to her growth spurt.

* AuraVision: Odin has the ability to perceive the souls of others and determine what color they are. He's eager to try to recruit Bell after seeing his completely pure soul, but he turns his nose up at Kojiro's, comparing looking at it to watching a rainbow while drunk and drowning, with so many twists and turns that it's nauseating. Odin apparently uses this ability quite a bit, which his own Valkyries consider disgusting and almost perverted as he's judging all of them by their souls, but it also makes him a nearly unrivaled talent scout.

* {{BFS}}: Kojiro has his Monohoshizao replicated before leaving the Far East. It's a katana 5 shaku, or 150 cm, long, more than twice the length of the average sword.
* BoringButPractical: Bell's unique congenital magic, Dragon Fang, is simplistic in that it merely mirrors his own sword swing with a phantom image to strike twice in the same instant, lacking the sheer area of effect or destructive power of a long chant spell. But it's also a super short chant magic to use and only requires its name and a drawn sword to use. Not only that, it will only grow stronger once he acquires a falna and it costs little Mind to activate, making it an exceedingly practical attack spell. Unfortunately, the blade is too immaterial to actually deal any damage until he gets a falna.
* BornLucky: One of Bell's defining traits is his extremely good luck. Running into Kojiro inspires him to go globe-trotting in search of new experiences and adventures. In the Far East, his random act of goodwill results in his friendship with Haruhime and foiling her kidnapping. In Rakia, his daydreaming and pondering about the splendors of the capital results in him running headlong into the Legiones' march and getting his blessing. In Altena, his active imagination and sheer dumb luck lets him enter the grimoire-like trance to create a magic spell on his first try, which is completely unprecedented.

* BreakTheCutie: Downplayed. While Bell wishes to be a hero, as his journey to other lands continue, he discovers the word 'Hero' has many definitions, with some not at all matching what he once believed. He is also forced to hurt to even once killing to survive, and while others help him to move on, he still feels the affects of those actions.

* BrokenPedestal:
** Seeing Kojiro kill people remorselessly gets Bell to wonder if Kojiro is really a hero, and Kojiro later tells Bell that he considers himself to be evil. Despite this, Kojiro begins acting more honorably and heroically in a desire to be the hero Bell envisions him as, and [[RebuiltPedestal Bell's trust in him remains as strong as ever.]]
** The Legiones initially cows Bell with his raw charisma, authority, and power. Bell sees him as another hero and insists on treating him with proper respect. But after [[spoiler:Bell discovers that Romulus has been bringing home slaves to build up Rakia, Bell's opinion of him sours.]]
** Bell admits that he expected the Empire's greatest mage to be much more noble and dignified than Lusserina actually is, especially since she coos over him and pinches his cheeks just to embarrass him.

* BunnyEarsLawyer:
** Oryou is the most powerful force in the Far East, easily defeating a Level 5 adventurer with brute force alone. She's also spacey, obsessed with eating frogs, and violently protective of her husband. When Bell calls her a wise woman for her RightMakesMight philosophy, Haruhime has to suppress the urge to snark otherwise.
** Lusserina is the Empire's strongest mage and a member of Cerberus, Hades' three strongest adventurers after the Radiance. She's also TheTease who purposefully wears {{Stripperific}} clothing to get a rise out of people.

* CassandraTruth: Kojiro doesn't try to hide his abilities or his backstory more than necessary, and the details about his life that he does tell Bell are often hard to stomach. When Bell asks where he met Ryoma, Oryou, and the Legiones, Kojiro says that they met under many mysterious circumstances while the world was on fire. This leaves Bell with more questions than answers, and a baffled and panicked Bell immediately asks when was this while Kojiro drops the subject completely. He also tells Araki that his Tsubame Gaeshi is not magic, but pure skill.

* CombatPragmatist: Kojiro teaches Bell to use every opportunity available to him to win a fight. {{Groin Attack}}s, AHandfulForAnEye, and InTheBack are all valid if it means survival, espsecially when Bell is often physically inferior to his opponents due to lacking a falna.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Kojiro's fixation on finding a WorthyOpponent to fight results in comical spats with Bell where the latter tries to get him to face the logical or moral implications of picking a fight to the death.
-->'''Bell:''' We are not picking a fight with the local nobles, Kojiro!\\
'''Kojiro:''' You’re right. ''[nods gravely before sighing]'' They don’t seem particularly strong to begin with.\\
'''Bell:''' Not the point!
* CompositeCharacter: The identity of the Legiones, [[spoiler:Romulus-Quirinus, has him with his appearance of his godly visage and the personality of his human form, Romulus.]] The author says that this is because being incarnated as a human [[spoiler:restored his original, PatrioticFervor and LargeHam personality, which got cooled off considerably after he was deified.]]
* CoolTeacher: Although Kojiro teases Bell, trolls him, and leaves him with plenty of bruises in their training sessions, but it's blatantly clear that he cares about Bell and his development. He will also kill anyone who threatens to hurt Bell.
* {{Corpsing}}: Kojiro can barely hold in his laughter when Odin proposes that Bell join his familia and become the first crossdressing IdolSinger.
* CountryMouse: Prior to setting out with Kojiro, Bell has only known the farm nestled in the mountains with his grandpa. So he reacts with surprise and delight whenever setting foot in another place, marveling at the sights while being woefully naïve until things are explained to him. Kojiro pointedly avoids mentioning that Rakia likely gains its riches from pillaging other nations, if only to avoid souring Bell's journey and their visit. During his visit to Altena, he's in awe at the ice-coated buildings and is stunned by the notion of a "concert" and the magical technology used in it.

* CurbStompCushion: Kojiro challenges the Radiance, an adventurer strong enough to take on the Legiones, to a one-on-one duel as soon as they meet. She quickly plows through his skill and speed-based defense with brute force, dislocating his shoulder and bending his sword in the process. But Kojiro does damage her helmet to the point that it cracks and falls to pieces, implying that he would have cut through her head had it not been there.
* DamselInDistress: Haruhime is the center of a plot by the Storm Faction to dishonor and get rid of her to remove the power imbalance her magic represents. Because of this, Bell, and by extension Kojiro, end up rushing to rescue her when she's kidnapped while hanging out with them.
* DamselOutOfDistress: Discussed. Haruhime tells Hachiman and Amaterasu that she no longer wants to be a defenseless princess, especially when the boy who fought to protect her didn't even have a falna. She implores Hachiman to train her so she may one day stand by his side.

* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Well, grandparents. Bell's parents died long before he was old enough to remember them, and he was raised by his grandfather instead. Bell's grandpa was his only company until Kojiro arrived, and died shortly before Bell's departure to travel the world. After he turns down all of Odin's and Brunhilde's attempts to recruit him into the Valkyries, Bell still looks back fondly on his grandfather and imagines him shaking his head at Bell giving up the opportunity to have a harem.

* {{Diary}}: Bell mentions keeping a diary to record all of his travels before he arrives in Orario. He starts writing down the details during his time in Rakia, but at that point it's a little hard to recall anything but the most important details and individuals he met during his time there.

* DoNotCallMeSir:
** Kojiro continually calls Bell "young master" despite Bell's pleas that he just call him by his name.
** Similarly, Ryoma asks Bell to just call him by his name rather than by any title like "mister" or "sir".
** The Legiones insists that Kojiro not refer to him by his title or alias, but simply by his name [[spoiler:Romulus]].

* TheDreaded: Oryou is feared as the "Mizuchi", the "Dragon Serpent of the Far East" and its mightiest adventurer. It's said that when she's angry, she could rouse storms and ruin mountains with a wave of her hand. Given her true serpent form, this is not an exaggeration. The fact that she's under Amaterasu's employ makes her the nuclear deterrent to outright CivilWar, as she can easily crush any single adventurer from the other factions.
* DualWielding: After being gifted a katana and wakizashi, Bell starts trying to fight like this. Although he's still inexperienced and loses his first spar, he still puts up a fine showing against a Level 1 soldier of Rakia.

* EatingTheEyeCandy: When the Radiance is unmasked, Bell finds himself awestruck by her beauty and somewhat jealous that she's giving all of her attention to Kojiro. Her hair and eyes in particular dazzle him and make his heart flutter. Bell only stops staring when the realizes that the others are staring at him. [[spoiler:After all, she's Artoria Pendragon.]]
* EffectiveKnockoff: Bell's Dragon Fang spell is essentially a magical version of Tsubame Gaeshi, albeit inferior as it only involves one additional swing rather than two. Despite this, Kojiro praises Bell's invention of the spell as something he could never accomplish and looks forward to seeing Bell surpass him one day.

* EndearinglyDorky: Bell's bright-eyed CountryMouse personality quickly endears him to others. Kojiro teases Bell cosntantly and tries to better himself for the sake of Bell's admiration of him, the Legiones takes a shine to Bell's OpenMouthInsertFoot moment by taking it as a sign of an inquisitive personality, and Lusserina coos over how cute Bell is.

* {{Expy}}: The Empire's strongest mage, Lusserina "Lulu" Luzumin, is recycled from one of the author's previous works.
* EyepatchOfPower: As per his real life myth, Odin wears an eyepatch. It's also clear that he's a respected god within Altena, a nation known for having a large number of high-level adventurers.

* FamedInStory:
** Ryoma is a Level 4 adventurer of the Amaterasu Familia, making him an elite second-class adventurer as well as a mediator between the factions. His wife, Oryou, is even more powerful, a Level 6 adventurer on par with the strongest adventurers from the Loki and Freya Familia.
** In addition, Oryou is one of four adventurers in the world said to be on par with or even surpassing Orario's best. The others are "The Legiones" [[spoiler:Romulus-Quirinus]], "The Radiance" [[spoiler:Artoria Pendragon]], and "The Asura".

* FarmBoy: Prior to setting off on his globe-trotting adventure with Kojiro, Bell lived on his grandfather's farm. Because of this, he has a sort of cheerful naivete and wide-eyed outlook on the world.

* FightsLikeANormal: Ryoma's stats sheet reveals that he has no magic or particularly special skills, leaving him to fight with only his swordsmanship.
* FigureItOutYourself: Bell is troubled after taking a life to save Haruhime and goes to Kojiro for advice. To Bell's dismay, Kojiro says that in his view, those who take lives are evil, and thus he defines himself as evil. But Kojiro soon clarifies that it's only Bell who can decide what will set his mind at peace, and that he'll simply have to find a way to live with it. Bell realizes that he'd been acting childish by expecting to be spoon-fed lessons on morality and whether or not he's a good person, so he takes this as a sign to do some introspection.

Moving to character page.

* AlbinosAreFreaks: Inverted. Bell's white hair and red eyes get him compared to bunny rabbits, resulting in girls calling him cute and adding to his striking {{Bishonen}} looks.

* {{Ambadassador}}: Ryoma is known as Peacemaker for mediating between the various factions in the Far East and is a formidable fighter in his own right, even if he isn't quite as strong as his wife. His works of diplomacy have mostly defused the tensions between the Storm, Neutral, and Sun factions, though it came at the cost of convincing Susanoo to be fearful of outsiders while Tsukuyomi continues to plot behind the scenes.

* TheApprentice: Kojiro is teaching Bell the ins and outs of swordsmanship, though not necessarily his own style, as Bell takes up DualWielding instead using a single sword thanks to Ryoma's gift. His skills slowly improve over the course of his globetrotting journey, going from being easily swat around by Kojiro, to challenging trained soldiers, to quickly subduing an armed terrorist despite not having a falna.

* AudienceSurrogate: Bell is this for those unfamiliar with the ''Fate'' and ''[=DanMachi's=]'' stories. As a FarmBoy and a CountryMouse from a secluded mountain range, Bell is sheltered and has only the barest of knowledge about the world around him. Because of this, he asks a lot of questions, including questions about Kojiro's past with the mysteriously powerful adventurers from around the world.

* AwesomenessIsAForce:
* BadassAdorable: Bell is a bright-eyed CountryMouse with a pretty face that gets others to compare him to a rabbit, pinch his cheeks, and generally see him as something to dote on or tease. But thanks to lessons from Kojiro and gifts from Kojiro's friends, Bell becomes increasingly capable in a fight. He also manages to invent his own magic spell on his first try, an unprecedented feat that even Kojiro cannot match.

* BadassBoast: Kojiro drops two in rapid succession, calmly asking Araki if defeating a Level 2 would put a damper on his morale before defying the notion that strength alone can determine the outcome of a fight.
-->'''Kojiro:''' This rule that numbers are everything... shall I break that belief open with brute force?
* BadassNormal:
** As an incarnated human without a falna, Kojiro has only his skills to fall back on when battling the superhuman adventurers. Despite this, he's able to keep up with and even kill low-level adventurers with ease even before reobtaining his Monohoshizao. It's hard for many to believe that he's unblessed, and Level 1 adventurers who see him work are too terrified to challenge him.
** Bell ''tries'' to be this, but without the godlike skill of his mentor, he has to act carefully to make a difference in a fight with adventurers. That said, Kojiro's training has left him far more skilled than any boy his age would normally be, and he puts up a good showing during a friendly spar with a Level 1 adventurer from Rakia, to the point that the latter actually feared defeat. This is even more notable given that Bell was DualWielding for the first time, meaning that he was fighting on par with a trained soldier despite never fighting in this way before. While he never actually manages to beat an adventurer during his stay in Rakia, he does come close on several occasions.

* BattleCouple: Ryoma and Oryou are this, even more so now that they're both human and can, er, ''consummate'' their relationship, along with Oryou taking Ryoma's last name. This is emphasized by a skill they both have, Lover’s Bond, which Increases parameters when fighting alongside one’s lover.
* BareFistedMonk: Unlike most adventurers, the Legiones does not carry weapons, implying that he takes on monsters and adventurers like with nothing but his fists. [[spoiler:Given his Nine Lives Roma Style skill, Romulus might not ''need'' anything else.]]

* BeYourself: Seeing him idolizing Kojiro and trying his best to emulate him, the Radiance tells Bell to be the best Bell Cranel he can be rather than try and fail to be Kojiro, whose swordsmanship is a talent no one can surpass.

* BloodKnight: Kojiro is always looking for worthy opponents to fight, challenging five Rakian adventurers in a row to spar with and handily defeating all of them. He would have kept going had the Rakian soldiers not been too scared to keep fighting him. [[spoiler:The mere sight of Artoria again gets his blood boiling enough for him to reenact their final duel on the steps of the Ryuudou Temple, a challenge that she gladly takes him up on.]].

* ChickMagnet:
** Bell, Bell, Bell... it's bad enough that your entire goal is RescueRomance in the Dungeon, but it's amazing how good he is at unintentionally wooing others. Kojiro even lampshades it after Bell says goodbye to Nyx and calls her a good person.
--->'''Kojiro:''' Wooing divinity? So young, yet so ambitious. ''[chuckles and scratches his chin]''\\
'''Bell:''' ''[frantically waving his arms with a LuminescentBlush on his face]'' I-I was just being nice!\\
'''Kojiro:''' I know that. That only makes your potential so much more terrifying. ''[shakes his head with an overly dramatic sigh]''\\
'''Bell:''' What are you talking about?!
** Kojiro is no slouch either when he wants to be. He gets Hrist blushing with a smile and a simple word of thanks after she informs him that the Empire's convoy has arrived.
* ChivalrousPervert: Although Bell heads to Orario in search of his fabled RescueRomance and potentially become a HaremSeeker, he's incredibly courteous towards every girl he meets and helps Haruhime escape her GildedCage of a home. He's also outraged when it sounds like Erebus is manipulating Nyx into marriage. He also turns down Brunhilde's attempts to recruit him into the Valkyries even if it would satisfy his HaremSeeker dream, as he respects them all too much to ever try to date them all.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Bell wishes he could save everyone he finds in trouble. But not only is he still a child, he still struggles against most adventurers due to lacking a falna. [[spoiler:His desire to rescue Nyx from her kidnappers is so profound that he's able to power through [[BrownNote her screams]], as he felt that she was far more terrified that he ever would be.]]

* MasterSwordsman:
** Kojiro's raw skill as a swordsman is unparalleled. No matter how much Bell tries to learn from him, he feels he can never close the gulf between them. Not to mention Kojiro's ability to make reality give up to allow him to cut down a swallow by letting him swing three times with a single motion.
** The Radiance is also this, eagerly taking up his offer for a SingleStrokeBattle and defeating him, albeit through brute force rather than superior technique with her broadsword.

* MinoredInAsskicking: While he's a smith first and foremost, Welf managed to get to Level 2 on his own, which is especially impressive given that Rakia lacks a Dungeon to go LevelGrinding in.
* MinorInjuryOverreaction: Although Ryoma is the one injured, Oryou is the one to overreact, flying into a murderous rage at Araki for leaving Ryoma with bruises and gashes on his face.
* ModestRoyalty: Welf was born into Rakia's Crozzo family, which is famous for crafting magic swords for Rakia to use on its campaigns. But given the small house he lives in and his plain-looking clothes from the Far East, Bell doesn't pick up on this until Welf tells him.
* MoralityChain: Bell is this for Kojiro, who would normally simply look for opponents to amuse himself with. If not for Bell, Kojiro would have simply ignored Haruhime's plight as something that isn't his own business. But Bell's admiration of him instills in Kojiro a desire to prove himself worthy of it that even [[MagneticHero Ritsuka Fujimaru]] could not.

* MyKungFuIsStrongerThanYours: "Wind Blade" Shinjiro is famed for his mastery of Shohato, a sword technique in which he slashes twice in almost the same instant. Kojiro scoffs at him for being unable to kill a swallow with such a thing, later killing him with Tsubame Gaeshi, which slashes ''three'' times in the same motion.
* MysteriousPast: Although he's known Kojiro for a year, Bell eventually realizes that he knows practically nothing about Kojiro's past aside from his magnificent swordsmanship. Kojiro gradually reveals more and more as their journey continues, including his shared history with Ryoma and Oryou as well as The Legiones, though Bell is in disbelief over the circumstances despite the truth behind Kojiro's words.

* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Downplayed. The Legiones is respected for his power and leadership ability as one of the four adventurers said to have conquered Orario's best. Despite this, he returns from his latest expeditions with his armor cracked and wounds all over his body, though he comes home victorious from his battles. Kojiro notes that he likely ran into another adventurer on his level, possibly a companion of his. He later reveals to Kojiro that The Asura was responsible, though he declines to use the Asura's real name, as it would "ruin the surprise".
* NotSoAboveItAll: The Radiance is apparently dead serious most of the time, and Lulu is in stitches when she realizes that her companion had bought a helmet just to play a prank.
* OffhandBackhand: The Radiance does this to her companion Lulu after she starts rattling off her former aliases as the Shining Knight, Queen of the Sword, and [[spoiler:Grand Saber]].

* OldMaster: Hachiman exudes this feeling despite being eternally youthful as a god. His Divine Arms techniques are the envy of everyone in the Far East as the pinnacle of martial arts, leading others to join his familia in pursuit of them.

* OnlyOneName: Having been disowned by her father, Haruhime replies that she's no longer "Young Sanjouno" when Amaterasu and Hachiman are about to address her.
* OneManArmy: The Radiance is so powerful that even a facing army of violas with a Demi-Spirit in tow isn't enough to faze her, destroying them with ease between her swordsmanship and ridiculously strong magic.
* OpenMouthInsertFoot: The first thing to come out of Bell's mouth when meeting the Legiones is [[spoiler:why the city is called Roma when the kingdom is known as Rakia]], which even he apologizes for. Luckily for him, the Legiones takes this as a sign of Bell's curious and inquisitive mind and compliments him for asking such a thing.

* OutDamnedSpot: While being attacked by terrorists as a concert in Altena, Bell immediately thrusts one of his sword through one of the culprit's shoulders, but can't bring himself to kill him. After the ordeal is suppressed by the Odin Familia, Bell finds that no matter how much he cleans his sword and hands, the blood didn't seem to come off, showing just how haunted he is by his first murder.
* PatrioticFervor: The Legiones demonstrates a proud and hammy love for his country, as do the soldiers under his command. [[spoiler:It's only natural that Romulus-Quirinus would express his love for ROMA even as a soldier of Rakia]].

* RescueRomance: Thanks to his grandpa filling his head with stories, Bell wants to go to Orario to save a girl in the Dungeon and have a storybook romance. Unbeknownst to him, he's already accomplished this with Haruhime, who is so grateful to him for being her first friend and for rescuing her that she's now training to one day be with him.
* RichesToRags: Haruhime is part of the incredibly influential Sanjouno family that is at the center of politics in the Far East. But her independent streak and desire to leave her GildedCage and one day meet Bell again leads her father to cast her out and disown her, upon which she heads to Hachiman for both shelter and the opportunity to train and head to Orario.

* UptownGirl: Haruhime is this for Bell, a beautiful girl his age of noble status who falls in love with him after he rescues her from a grim fate as a slave to be sold to the highest bidder. In fact, her desire to one day stand by his side is so great that she renounces her noble title and gets disowned so she can become an adventurer.

* WeakButSkilled:
** As an incarnated human, Kojiro doesn't possess the sheer superhuman speed and strength of a Servant. But his skills remain untouched aside from getting used to once again having a flesh-and-blood body. As such, he, despite not having a falna, is able to fight on par with Level 1 and 2 adventurers, something that's supposed to be practically impossible.
** Bell is a {{Downplayed|Trope}} downplayed example. He's not nearly as skilled as Kojiro or as strong, but he's still well-trained enough to easily subdue and defeat a distracted terrorist, blessed or not. His skills get praise from Rakia's trained soldiers.

* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: When Nyx tells Bell of a God she might like, after hearing her backstory of him, Bell questions what she could possibly see in Erebus.
* WhatsUpKingDude: Upon meeting the Legiones, Rakia's mightiest adventurer and one of the highest authorities in the country, Kojiro simply walks up to him and shakes his hand while addressing him by his true name [[spoiler:Romulus-Quirinus]], much to the horror of Bell and the nearby soldiers, who demand Kojiro show him respect. But given that they once fought alongside each other at Chaldea, the Legiones waves them off and greets Kojiro and Bell warmly before declaring that they're under his protection.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Between his pure soul, {{Bishonen}} good looks, and gentle personality, Odin asks Bell if he'd like to become the first crossdressing idol. Bell, embarrassed and stunned, fervently denies the opportunity.

But he soon realizes that she's a terrible teacher and all of her attempts to beat her swordsmanship into him just leave him aching on the floor. --> ---> '''Oryou:''' This mortal body, I leave behind. This weak flesh, I replace. Chains broken, seals removed, I announce my name! I am the rebellious god, the Serpent of Takachiho! Like a Soaring Dragon, I return to my true form! Amakakeru Ryu ga Gotoku!Gotoku!
** The Legiones also has chants for his magics, which are the lines he chants while using his Noble Phantasms in ''Fate/Grand Order''.
* MagicKnight: Bell learns magic under Brunhilde's tutelage during his stay in Altena while continuing to polish his swordsmanship with Kojiro, turning him into this.

* AdaptationalRelationshipOverhaul:
** In-canon, Welf is Bell's BestFriend and a member of the Hestia Familia. But in this story, Welf stays in Rakia rather than following Bell to Orario due to the Legiones' patronage. [[spoiler:Their relationship is also soured somewhat after discovering that Welf condones Romulus' "vassal" system, which is essentially enslaving people from other countries to force them to be part of Rakia.]]
** [[spoiler:Welf's little sister if the first member and the Captain of the Hestia Familia, meaning that Bell won't have the close relationship with Hestia that he does in-canon.]]

* {{Bishonen}}: Bell has a cute face and is lean enough to fit into armor Welf designed for his little sister. Bell's pride is wounded by this, and he wishes he was taller and manlier instead. Odin says that between Bell's face and soul, he could easily become a WholesomeCrossdreser IdolSinger, though Bell quickly declines.

* BoringButPractical: Bell's unique congenital magic, Dragon Fang, is simplistic in that it merely mirrors his own sword swing with a phantom image to strike twice in the same instant, lacking the sheer area of effect or destructive power of a long chant spell. But it's also a super short chant magic to use and only requires its name and a drawn sword to use on top of costing little Mind. It will only grow stronger once he acquires a falna.

* BrokenPedestal:

* BunnyEarsLawyer: Oryou is the most powerful force in the Far East, easily defeating a Level 5 adventurer with brute force alone.

* DramaticIrony: Bell wanted to go to Orario to save a girl in the Dungeon and get her to fall in love with him as his grandpa always told him to. By visiting the Far East, Bell already accomplished this when he befriended and rescued Haruhime. Not only that, but his rescue of her inspires her to chase after him much like he chased after Ais in canon.

** Bell is dumbstruck when Brunhilde and Hrist explain to him how incredible it is for him to create a super short chant magic on his first try and ask of there are any elves, spirits, or powerful mages in his bloodline. The thought of it makes his head spin, and he simply can't imagine himself, a mere FarmBoy, as some kind of chosen hero next to people like Kojiro. [[spoiler:Unbeknownst to him, his aunt was the Silence, [[WorldsStrongestWoman Alfia, the greatest human mage]] and an executive of the Hera Familia. Meanwhile, his adoptive grandfather is the legendary god Zeus.]]

** Bell's globetrotting earns him equipment and skills he would have never acquired on his own.
*** Ryoma gifts him a pair of expensive and sharp swords to use with the sword training he's get from Kojiro, making Bell a straight example of HeroesPreferSwords rather than the knife specialist he is in-canon.
*** His visit to Altena earns him some free magic lessons from the Valkyries after he unknowingly defends Odin from a terrorist. In doing so, he creates the Dragon Fang spell in imitation of Kojiro's Tsubame Gaeshi rather than getting Firebolt from a grimoire.

* OldMagic: Congenital magic is an older style of magic practiced before the gods descended. It's weaker and harder to use than magic acquired from a falna or a grimoire, but if one creates a spell, it can be used even without a falna and will only be strengthened by it. The elves have special rituals to help them master theirs, while Altena has its own fields of study that involve meditation and the use of imagination to draw out natural talent to produce unique magic. Bell creates one such spell on his first try in imitation of Kojiro's Tsubame Gaeshi.

** Hades' three strongest adventurers under the Radiance are known as Cerberus, after the three-headed dog that guards the underworld in Greek myth. Lusserina "Lulu" Luzumin is the Empire's strongest mage and a member of this trio, being known as the "Witch of Flowers" on her own.

** The Radiance is calm, collected, and exudes authority when she isn't taking up a challenge. Her companion Lusserina is TheTease, incredibly outgoing, and goofy.

* TheTease: Lusserina purposefully wears {{Stripperific}} clothing to tease others stealing looks at her, winking at Bell and giving him a playful smirk when he catches him staring at her.

He also manages to invent his own magic spell on his first tree, an unprecedented feat that even Kojiro cannot match.

As Bell gains more experience and better equipment, he manages to hold his own even against low-level adventurers, and later manages to completely subdue a terrorist before he could react to Bell's attack.

* CoolTeacher: Although Kojiro teases Bell, trolls him, and leaves him with plenty of bruises in their training sessions, but it's blatantly clear that he cares about Bell and his development. He will also kill anyone who threatens to hurt Bell.

* TrainingFromHell: When Bell manages to create his own magic on the first try, Brunhilde and Hrist decide to "help" him cultivate it by dragging him away to perform it over and over while making him chug Mind Potions to avoid Mind Down. Even after he points out that they said he could die from overuse, Brunhilde laughs it off and says that he won't die unless he's killed and that they're going to become ''best'' friends. Bell cries for help from Kojiro, who [[INeedToGoIronMyDog says he'll be off to save France]] while making a hasty retreat.

** Kojiro does his best to teach Bell proper swordsmanship despite not belonging to any particular school suited for teaching. As a result, many of their lessons take the form of Kojiro beating Bell with a wooden sword or a stick to teach him better form and how to respond to different attacks. Bell reels in pain after these sessions, but Kojiro eventually gets better at it so Bell isn't utterly sore the next day.

Added DiffLines:

* YouCalledMeXItMustBeSerious: Kojiro usually calls Bell "young master" to tease him for his humility as well as a nod to Kojiro's past as a Servant. But when Bell is about to self-deprecate after managing to complete a magic spell on his first try, Kojiro stops himself from calling him "young master" and calls him "Bell" to show just how serious he is about getting Bell to take pride in himself and his accomplishments.
