Lelouch is AFatherToHisMen in his many interactions with those of The Black Knights/Army Group vi Britannia, where as Kallen's relationship with the Noppera-bō (barring Caedron) is far more cold and professional. Lastly, the outcomes they want also differ, as while Lelouch wants to change the system from within and do away with the corruption, Kallen wants to completely wipe it out in the hopes that a more ideal government will rise from the ashes.
** Kallen's Zero in this story also differs from Lelouch's Zero from canon in how they operate. While both were {{frontline general}}s, Lelouch's Zero was an average Knightmare pilot who primarily fought with his troops due to his philosophy, while Kallen's Zero is an AcePilot and tends to do a lot of the combative heavy-lifting. Kallen's general HotBlooded mentality also contrasts Lelouch's cold calculation, which shows in that canon Zero was the master strategist behind the Black Knights while Kallen's Zero is only an okay strategist, with Caedron doing the heavy lifting in that regard.

* WhatIf: This fic is basically an exploration of what Code Geass would be like if Lelouch was still in Britannia and rose to be a general in it, and if Kallen was the one instead who became Zero thanks to tragedy involving her family.

He also developed an immense guilt for his actions, having conquered new areas and killed countless people (innocent of otherwise) just to make sure that his sister can live happy.

* AcePilot: Many examples in the story, though Kallen and Suzaku are the most prominent, with Lelouch even putting them on the same level as the Knights of the Round. C.C. surpasses both of them as Kallen defers to her in training and Lelouch even states that if she and Suzaku fought without restraint, then he wouldn't stand a chance.

* CovertPervert: Euphemia. When Cornelia threatens to cut off Suzaku's "miniscule manhood", she informs her older sister that Suzaku is "quite well-endowed". Turns out, the Witch of Britannia was wrong in assuming that her younger sister was still a virgin.

Despite the similarity in name, it has nothing to do with the ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'' book series.

* BlackAndWhiteMorality: This is shown to be Cornelia's main issue. She tends to view the empire as absolute good and hates when people talk against it. Any attempts to expose the more corrupt side of it are usually met with outrage from her, even when proven completely true. Even Charles states that her biggest flaw is her inability to see shades of gray.

* AdaptationalCurves: Lelouch is a lot more muscular than he is in canon.

** Cornelia has this for Euphemia, and it's even noted that her protectiveness of her sister surpasses her loyalty to Britannia. This is also treated as problematic, since she treats her like porcelain and refuses to let her make major decisions involving politics without being forced to by others (namely Lelouch and Euphemia herself).

* JerkassFacade: Kallen in regards to her interactions with Lelouch in the earlier chapters, though this becomes subverted in the later chapters between the two as she shows more of her real self to him. Though she still has her moments of this in regards to her interactions with other characters, especially with Caedron and C.C.

* BigBrotherInstinct: As usual, Lelouch to Nunnally, which tends to be UpToEleven when she is around Rai.

* AdaptationNameChange: Sayoko goes by Allison here, since she's Japanese and it would be improper for Lelouch to have a non-Britannian for a maid.

* ImprobableAge: Quite a few characters in the fic fit this description, with Lelouch, Kallen, Euphemia being the most prominent examples. Though justified due to their many talents, and on Lelouch and Euphemia’s side, their bloodline. Kallen also has an experienced adviser aiding her in her campaign against Britannia.

* GreyAndGrayMorality: Niether side in the story is entirely good nor entirely evil. Kallen wants to do away with the corruption of Britannia, but wants to see its absolute eradication and commits amoral actions with long-term consequences. Lelouch serves Britannia, but also seeks to rid it of corruption and does so from within. Both sides also have morals and lines they won't cross, and even Charles and Marianne have redeeming qualities and their endgame is that of a WellIntentionedExtremist, as they wish to rid the world of lies and don't want to force it on anyone. Really, the only shades of black in the story are [[spoiler:V.V.]] and Guinevere.
