* MarshmallowHell: After their first day at U.A., Rias decides to demonstrate how close she and Izuku are by burying his head into her bosom. She is actually quite prone to do this, particularly if she's shaken up or just wants to tease Izuku.

... and the girl, who turns out to be a fallen angel, kills him. In his death throes, Izuku makes one last wish: a chance to become a hero.

** Instead of Izuku, the Sludge Villain attacked Kyoka and Momo. This means that Izuku never meets All Might until the first Heroics class. But that said, this becomes subverted when the pair do become to form a relationship similar to seen in canon, as [[spoiler:All Might chooses to give Izuku One For All]].
** Mirio reveals that he and Sir Nighteye had a falling out, with the implication it being related to [[spoiler:the former's RefusalOfTheCall regarding One For All]].

** Koji Koda, Mashirao Ojiro and Rikido Sato are replaced with [[OriginalCharacter Liana]] [[BadWithTheBone Kozuki]], [[Literature/HighSchoolDXD Yura Tsubasa]] and [[VideoGame/UnderNightInBirth Kido Hyde]].

** Venelana teases the hell out of her daughter about her attraction to Izuku, while Zeoticus makes no qualms about taking photos of his daughter while she's being embarrassed. Rias actively dreads the possibility of Inko and Venelana becoming friends.
** Chapter 52 is pretty much this trope. Izuku's parents, Rias' parents and brother, Sona's sister and even Kaminari's mother all do their best to thoroughly embarrass the teens.

* BedmateReveal: Izuku [[RunningGag keeps waking up]] to find a girl (or several), naked or wearing flimsy clothing in his bed. The first time is Rias, the second time is [[SerialEscalation Rias, Ochako and Ibara]], the third is Milia, then Milia, Fuyuko and Nejire.

** Chapter 51, aptly titled "A Much-Needed Break". While it does have some significant plot developments, for the most part it's simply Izuku and the girls hanging out at Tokyo Disneyland and having a great time.

*** Izuku being in the same team as Mei, Ibara, and Milia cause Rias and Ravel to almost go {{Yandere}} on the poor kid.
*** Milia kissing him in the forehead causes Hagakure, Ibara, Mina, Momo, Ochako, Ravel, Rias, Setsuna, and Tsubasa to glare at her.
*** Mei throwing air kisses at Izuku brings in the ire of the above mentioned (save for Milia and Ibara, who were also targeted by the air kisses), plus Kendo and Tsuyu. Rias and Ravel are so intense that everyone around is scared off.

** Ibara takes Asia's Twilight Healing, backstory (a Catholic girl who, due to Twilight Healing, became a saint of sorts only to be excommunicated because she healed a devil) and hero-worship of the main character.

** Fuyuko Yukimura appears to be one of Mizore Shirayuki from Manga/RosarioPlusVampire, and Shiho Suzui from VideoGame/Persona5. Her being abused by the gym coach brings to mind both Mizore's abuse by Okuto Kotsubo and Shiho's abuse by Suguru Kamoshida. She attempts to commit suicide like Shiho as a result, but said attempt is thwarted by Izuku and Milia much like Mizore's attempt was by Kurumu, who Milia is an expy of. Appearance wise she resembles Mizore with long pale blue hair, she is noted to have "cold hands"[[labelnote:*]]Mizore was a {{yukionna}} who could turn her hands into ice claws[[/labelnote]], and she attends Shujin Academy like Shiho.

** As for Liana herself, while she initially goes into full PervertRevengeMode, upon later reflection she realizes that she actually liked the sensation, and was kind of disappointed when he lets go.

** The girls when looking at Izuku's shirtless photo. Half of them is left drooling or bleeding.

** Momo's chocolate is [[LethalChef so horrible]] that Izuku faints when he attempts to put a piece in his mouth (''attempts'' as in ''the "chocolate" comes nowhere close to his mouth before he faints''), and even after over an hour of Twilight Healing, he can't taste anything for a ''week''. Kyoka mentions before that her father almost died once when trying her cooking.

** Bakugo's loss in the Tournament. Not only does he fail to do significant damage to Mei (he only wrecks a piece of her gear), he essentially eliminates ''himself'' by blasting himself so fast he flies off the ring after Mei shoots a capture net at him.
* EverybodyKnewAlready: [[spoiler:Besides Izuku (who only found out a few hours before), Mineta and Kaminari, everyone in 1-A already knew that Todoroki was a girl, they were just trying to be polite by not saying anything.]]

* ForWantOfANail:
** Due to the rise of Quirks and subsequent "dark age" brought about by the chaos Quirks caused, various organized religions faced upheaval, causing damage to the Supernatural factions. Many religions that weren't compatible with Quirks died out, while others had to adapt to maintain some level of influence. Rias notes that the Abrahamic religions in particular were hit hard, the number of followers reduced to less than a quarter of what they once were. She also notes that Sirzechs told her that, initially, the Satans had planned on [[ToUnmasqueTheWorld revealing themselves]] so as to try and alleviate the chaos, but decided against it out of fearing making things worse.
*** Conversely, the advent of Quirks made it a lot easier for some supernatural races to more easily integrate with humanity, able to pass off their inhuman traits as just being byproducts of Quirks.
** Because Raynare didn't toy with Izuku's feelings as much as she did to Issei in canon, Rias is willing to let her go at Izuku's request.
*** As Izuku doesn't suffer from the same level of PTSD Issei had, he's more aware of the girls' feelings for him [[spoiler:and confesses to them all before the Peace Conference Arc]].
** All Might saved Momo and Kyoka from the Sludge Villain instead of Izuku.
** Due to having the Boosted Gear, Izuku scores first place in the U.A. Entrance Exam, while Bakugo is pushed down to 5th place. Conversely, as Izuku didn't need help landing after taking out the Zero-Pointer, Ochako scores lower than in canon, taking 10th place.
** Izuku makes more of an impression on Ravel Phenex - enough that she transfers to U.A. much sooner than she transferred to Kuoh Academy in ''High School D×D''.
** The Rating Game ends in victory for Rias' Peerage, averting the fight at the wedding. Izuku's use of his Scale Mail takes place instead at the USJ.
** The USJ class trip involves Classes 1-A and 1-B instead of just 1-A.
** The fourth and fifth Japanese Heroes are Liana's parents, Zero and Guren, which displaces everyone in the canon list from Best Jeanist down.
** Only 32 students make it past the Obstacle Course instead of 42. Due to this, Aoyama, Hagakure, Mineta, and Sero don't make it to the Cavalry Battle.
** Ibara and Milia take Ochako's (who teams up with Liana, Shinso, and Itsuka) and Tokoyami's (who is instead with Kaminari, Tetsutetsu, and Honenuki) places in Izuku's team. Tsuyu takes Sero's place in Bakugo's team, while Kyoka replaces Kaminari in Todoroki's team.
*** As a result of the Battle, Kaminari, Tetsutetsu, and Tokoyami don't reach the final event. With Aoyama and Sero dropped in the Obstacle Course, it leaves five places that are taken by Kendo, Kyoka, Liana, Milia, and Tsuyu.
** The different lineup in the final tournament causes further changes:
*** Kendo, Hatsume, and Momo make it to the quarter-finals, respectively defeating Kirishima, Bakugo and Iida.
*** Izuku, Ibara, and Kendo reach the semifinals after defeating Liana, Tsuyu and Momo.
*** The tournament ends with Izuku (who defeats Ibara) vs Todoroki, with the former winning the fight.
** Izuku gets confirmation that One For All contains echoes of the spirits of the previous users after the battle with Shinso thanks to Ddraig.
** Eri ends up being freed from Overhaul's grasp during the time period between the Sports Festival and the Spring internships by an unknown person, who places her in the path of the ORC for them to take care of, rather than being rescued in late summer/early fall during the Yakuza raid.
** Izuku chooses "Viridian" as his hero name instead of "Deku".
** Bakugo (who only got 8 internship offers) ends up interning at the Armed Detective Agency instead of Best Jeanist, while Momo and Itsuka (on Izuku's advice) pick Fat Gum and a Pro Hero called Thunder Fist, respectively, instead of Uwabami.
** Gran Torino, hearing about all the internship offers Izuku got, travels to him at U.A. to help him train instead, and Izuku calls the new technique he develops "Dragon Veil" instead of "Full Cowl". Izuku ends up going to Ryukyu's agency in Shinjuku instead.
** There are more than just three Nomu in Hosu, and a different group of hero students answers Izuku's distress call. The Winged Nomu also grabs Itsuka instead of Izuku.
** [[spoiler:Mirio ended up leaving Nighteye's agency over what happened with him after he turned down One For All.]]
** In the end of term practical exam, both hero classes are mixed up in groups of 5, and instead of fighting the teachers they are put through different scenarios (such as Hostage Situations or Disaster Rescue) while being pit against Pro Heroes (Izuku's team has to fight Mirko and Ryukyu, for example).

* FunbagAirbag: When Tsuyu throws them both into the boat at USJ, Izuku lands face first into Milia's bust.

** The "[=MidoriyaIzuku.EXE=] has crashed" joke returns when Rias, Ibara and Ochako try to get Izuku to say whose boobs he likes most - while they are pressing him against said boobs.
* HeroicRROD: Because Quirks are biological functions, there are set limits as to how much an individual can use them. Aoyama Yuga is noted to be the most extreme example, only being able to use his Quirk, Navel Laser, for one-second before causing [[PottyEmergency internal distress]], though just like muscle overcompensation, this is mitigated by constant use and training.

* LesserOfTwoEvils: Thanks to Mori's strategizing, the Port Mafia is legally in this position. By all accounts they are a criminal organization responsible for many crimes like drug trafficking and murder. However, Mori has made them so entrenched in Yokohama's foundation that, should anything happen to them, Yokohama will descend into anarchy. And since they already take care of other villainous factors due to threatening their business, the government is left with no choice but to let the Port Mafia do as it pleases.

* LoopholeAbuse: By all accounts, the Port Mafia is a criminal organization responsible for countless crimes including murder. Much like their [[Manga/BungoStrayDogs home series]] however, the Port Mafia is in possession of a government issued permit that allows them to operate as they like. Not only that, but thanks to Mori's strategic mind, the Port Mafia has effectively become a lynchpin for Yokohama, meaning even if someone ''wanted'' to take them out, [[MortonsFork doing so would send Yokohama into total anarchy]]. As such, law officials have no choice but to let the Port Mafia keep existing, albeit they ''will'' arrest individual members like Kajii Motojirō if their actions go too far. This also hasn't stopped the HPSC from ''trying'' to take out the Port Mafia, at least ''seven times'' according to Yosano, but failed every time.

* NoodleIncident: Ddraig once borrowed some of Tiamat's treasures for a fight against Albion, and they got destroyed in the fight. She's been hounding Ddraig ever since.
** Mineta tried to sneak in Mt Lady's room during his internship, so she ended up making him do chores in a maid outfit.

* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Mei Hatsume, who chooses to put her face right in front of Izuku when she asks to join his Cavalry team.

* ObliviousToLove: Izuku is the only one in his middle school class that cannot tell that [[OriginalCharacter Milia Takamaki]] is nursing a big crush on him. He begins to take the hint when he gets to U.A., though. He's also unaware of how deep his feelings for Rias run.

* ParentalSexualitySquick: Izuku seems ready to find some BrainBleach every time Inko mentions some of her adventures with Hisashi. It gets worse when Hisashi comes home, because Izuku knows how far their "catch-up sessions" can go.

*** During the Rating Game against Riser, Ochako and Koneko gets their clothes burnt in front of Izuku and Koneko tries to punch him.

** [[spoiler:Todoroki's gender is revealed to the audience in-universe at the Sports Festival when the final clash between her and Izuku's attacks causes ClothingDamage and exposes one of her breasts, though besides Izuku (who found out earlier), Mineta and Kaminari, all of 1-A had already figured it out, and only avoided mentioning it to be polite.]]

** Sagimoto, one of the detectives investigating Detective Yamigiwa's murder, mentions how someone shot her twice after killing her just to make it look like a Port Mafia hit. This allows Ranpo and Bakugo to instantly pinpoint him as the killer, as the body was just fished out of the river - no way anyone that was not involved would know the exact sequence of the shooting.

** [[spoiler:Almost all of Class 1-A knew Todoroki's real gender, with Izuku, Mineta and Kaminari only learning about it during the Sports Festival. According to them, it wasn't much of a secret due to Todoroki giving out too many hints.]]

** Azazel later teaes [[spoiler:Vali and Genbu Doumon.]]

* StealthHiBye: The entire Armed Detective Agency bolts when Doctor Yosano shows up to find someone to go shopping with, leaving Bakugo, Monoma and Atsushi to their luck.

* TheTalk: After seeing Izuku sleeping in the same bed as naked Rias, Ochako, and Ibara, Inko insists on giving her son a crash sex-education course. Izuku is left pale and scared at how graphic his mother went - and the fact that she's not done yet.

* UnexpectedCharacter: Chapter 51 introduces a character no one was expecting, a non-All For One Hisashi Midoriya that didn't abandon his family. Though it was alluded to many times and that he was simply too busy to come home, the fact that he was able to take time off for Parents' Day was such a surprise, both InUniverse and out.

** Chapter 47. [[spoiler:Iida, Setsuna, Liana, and Todoroki [[BrokenMasquerade learn that]] Izuku, Milia, and Itsuka are Devils and that GodIsDead. Itsuka apparently has FakeMemories and has a strange reaction to the name Asmodeus.]]

* WhatTheHellHero: Rias reads Xenovia the riot act after she tries to rape Izuku (although her actions are mostly born out of ignorance, since her sheltered life and lack of social skills didn't help her realize that Izuku was genuinely scared).

** Riser tries to choke Izuku, threatening to kill him if Rias doesn't surrender. Izuku had planned for that, though, because he needed Riser to be angry and close enough he wouldn't see Izuku getting [[ChekhovsGun Ibara's holy water bottle]] out of his pocket and Boosting it before smashing it on Riser. Weakened by the empowered holy water, Riser becomes overwhelmed by Izuku, who wraps Ibara's cross around the Boosted Gear, and Dragon Smashes Riser into a wall, hurting him beyond his diminished regenerative ability and forcing Riser to retire.

* WelcomedToTheMasquerade: As more and more students and faculty inadvertently get involved with the Supernatural, rather than having their [[LaserGuidedAmnesia memories wiped]], they are instead told about it as the possibility of the Khaos Brigade and the League of Villains [[VillainTeamUp joining up]] is rather high, especially with a rouge angel in the latter group.

* ALighterShadeOfBlack: The unofficial stance the Japanese government has for the Port Mafia. Despite being [[TheMafia a criminal organization]], they exist in a legal grey area thanks to their leader, Ogai Mori, possessing a Quirk Business Permit, making the actions of the Port Mafia legal to an extent. And because they're so entrenched in the makeup of Yokohama, even if the government ''wanted'' to take them out, as the HPSC has tried seven times before, doing so would just send Yokohama into total anarchy, as the numerous malefactors kept in check by the Port Mafia's existence would be allowed to act unabated. So because they take care of lesser villains [[PragmaticVillainy that would interfere with business]] and are technically a legal establishment, the government lets them act as they please to an extent.

** Chapter 47. [[spoiler:Iida, Setsuna, Liana, and Todoroki [[BrokenMasquerade learn that]] Izuku, Milia, and Itsuka are Devils and that GodIsDead. Itsuka apparently has FakeMemories and some reason fears the name Asmodeus.]]
