* ShoutOut: A LOT of video games get name-dropped, too many to reference. It’s a given that most of the narration comes from the Ultimate Gamer, who uses them as points of reference for things she lacks experience in.

* CueTheSun: Happens toward the end of Chapter 24 when [[spoiler:the fighting dies down. He’s baffled by anything he sees as illogical, is confused by the emotions Chiaki stirs in him, and sees no reason to unnecessarily hurt nor help people. His alien mentality is a source of friction for them, but Chiaki eventually decides that even if she can’t understand his ways of thinking, she still cares about and accepts him.

He anonymously funds the Future Foundation so they can keep working on the Neo World Program and put up a good fight against Ultimate Despair; [[spoiler:enacts a MemoryGambit with Chiaki in case his plan goes wrong]]; and eventually plays the Remnants and the Future Foundation like fiddles to get himself and Class 77 into the Neo World Program.

* TheHeart: Miaya always takes the time to listen to ''all'' her employees’ concerns.
* TheHeavy: [[spoiler:Chisa is revealed to have helped Class 77 infiltrate the Neo World Program, exposed Makoto's role in hiding Class 77 to Kyosuke, and then enabled Monaca's murder of Miaya and presence in the Final Killing Game. All so she could bring great despair to Kyosuke.]]

* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Chiaki’s self-esteem is pretty much destroyed by the events of ''Side:Despair'' Episode 10; once she remembers the full details of what happened, she rips herself apart for having [[LeeroyJenkins such poor wisdom]]. Even after she gets through her depression, she tends to put herself down and doubt her own judgment.

* LackOfEmpathy: Izuru is incredibly callous to anyone not named Chiaki. It’s most explicit when watching the Killing Game — while she’s horrified and saddened by what Class 78 goes through, he remarks on it being boring several times and only wants to be entertained.

* LonelyRichKid: Chiaki’s backstory. Her parents showered her with money and video games in lieu of actual affection, and she had no friends before entering Hope’s Peak — the other kids mistook her shyness for being stuck-up and thought she was weird for loving video games so much.

* SecretlySelfish: While Chiaki is a genuinely sweet person, she’s also starved for attention and greedy for friendship, to the point she’d rather Class 77 and Chisa continue terrorizing the world than get caught by the Future Foundation.
* ShellShockedVeteran: Her ordeal in the maze left Chiaki with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, experiencing nightmares of her torture, being triggered by reminders (such as elevators), and subconsciously associating [[spoiler:Kanon]] with Junko because of her makeup.

* CallBack: Chiaki’s [[spoiler:final farewell to Izuru]] in Chapter 18 is written deliberately to parallel [[spoiler:her farewell to Hajime in Episode 3]].

* {{Archenemy}}: Despite his initial allegiance with her, Izuru holds Junko in high distate.
