Usagi is a clumsy, irresponsible, and ditzy 14 year old whose life changes when she receives a distressed phone call from her friend, claiming a man has broken in her home. Usagi rushes to her aid and comes across a robbery in progress, while following the thief she comes across another man. While attempting to save her friend Usagi is visited by a black cat that had been previously following her and is given a bracelet with a dangling charm on the end, in the shape of a crescent moon. With the aid of the cat Usagi manages to transform into the Cosmic Warrior, Warrior Moon and with further help from a masked thief, manages to save her friend. She is then told about her past and her duty to save the planet before a darkness like the world has never known takes over, thus putting an end to life as they know it.

* CallingYourAttacks: Warrior Moon needs to call out Moon Blade Slash for it to happen.

* CoolMask: Tuxedo Mask of course! However, Warrior Moon also gets a mask that covers her entire face, reminiscent of a Vizard mask.

* HenshinHero: Although seems to be able to recall some events from her past, Usagi's powers won't kick in until she's suited up.

* TheLittleShopThatWasntThereYesterday: Stack Attack is a kind of example of this, although it wasn't mentioned as just appearing, it was described as being a new building. The House of Fortune as well.

* EarlyBirdCameo: The author said the characters would be coming in out of order, and they weren't kidding. We met Ami, Makoto, Artemis, Minako, Rei and her grandpa, Haruka, and Michiru all ahead of schedule.

* InfoDump: Part of the history we were expecting came in chapter 3, but the brunt of it, along with information regarding Usagi's transformation and weapon came in a flash back in chapter 5.

* TransformationTrinket: Usagi's moon charm bracelet.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Artemis so far, showed he's capable of transforming from human to cat in just a few seconds without any kind of phrase.

In the first chapter Fame shows talent for writing in the way the story opens and gives readers a taste of familiarity with some classic run-ins and mannerisms of the cast. But of course, we're not here to re-read Sailor Moon, Fame kicks off the series of changes with a new breed of monsters called Experiments, former heroes of mythology who've been reincarnated to work for the Dark Kingdom. Coupled with that, rather than have our heroine fighting with a tiara in a one-piece, a skirt, and heels, Usagi transforms into a lance wielding warrior in a Zero Suit Samus inspired {{LatexSpaceSuit}}. Luna and Artemis also seem to have bigger roles in this story, as of the latest chapter we've seen Luna as a cat and Artemis transform from human to cat, it's safe to assume soon we'll see a human Luna as well. The two felines are also a part of a secret organization made up a previous guardians from the Moon Kingdom, called the Silver Guard.

* TheReveal: The revelation of [[spoilier: Naru's rape]] in chapter 4.

* EarlyBirdCameo: When Fame said the characters would be coming in out of order, Fame wasn't kidding. As of chapter five we've met Ami, Minako, Artemis, and Makoto.

* DuelToTheDeath: Diarmuid and his clones are dropped in a colosseum where they battle until the rebel is killed.

* FlashForward: Before Usagi transforms where she has flashes of images come before her, judging by the descriptions it's pretty easy to tell she's seeing future villains. Perhaps this is a clue that this fic will cover more than just the Dark Kingdom arc?

* HeartDrive: After being punctured with darts, going head to head with Tuxedo Mask and haven't his spine stabbed by Warrior Moon, Dirmaruid appears soon after completely healed. However when his life gem is crushed Diarmuid crumbles away into black dust.

However Fame does it in a subtle way, by making the villains almost human. Although Diarmuid doesn't look like a regular person, he isn't recognizable as a monster, he walks around in public schools doesn't he? The true darkness in Cosmic Warriors lies in the fact that the evil in the world could be sitting beside you in class, or passing you on the street. Further shown when the off putting when Diarmuid turns out to be a rapist.

** Fame also had Diarmuid cut him off at what could have been the start of a cheesy one-liner.

By making a main/supporting character a victim of sexual assault it plunges the story into a new kind of depth and catapults Usagi out of her skepticism for becoming a warrior and into vowing to protect her friends and everyone in the process.
