** During the Ghost Ship Arc, Aki is recovering from her injuries in Heathcliffe's room, when Heathcliffe and Aki begin to talk. Aki then tells Heathcliffe about the nightmare of her [[spoiler: dead mother - who died back at the end the Tequila Wolf Arc -]] and how much she loves and misses her.
->Heathcliffe: "When did [[spoiler: your mom die]]?"
->Aki: "Only a few days ago. [[spoiler: She got really sick all of a sudden before she died. My mom and I were really close. We did almost everything together, since it was just us living in our cottage by the sea]]." (Begins to cry)
->Heathcliffe: "[[spoiler: At least you were loved by your mother]]. My parents didn’t even love me. They thought my brothers and I were the black sheep of the family and they shunned us. One day, I got very sick and I went to sleep. The next thing I know is that I’m in a coffin on the shores of an unfamiliar island. I was all alone, without Holden and Soren. I was all alone for about a year, until Yuki-Rin found me and gave me a home on the ship. I feel… So grateful to Yuki-Rin because she took me in and gave me friends and my brother back." (Breaks down crying)
** [[spoiler: Shikari's [[{{Heroic Sacrifice}}]]]] in chapter thirty.
** In chapter thirty-two, Aki [[spoiler: must say goodbye to everyone, because she must leave the crew to go through with her {{Arranged Marriage}}.]] It gets even more heartbreaking when [[spoiler: she and Heathcliffe confess that they love each other shortly before Aki leaves. Just as they are about to share their first kiss, the butler forcibly takes a sobbing Aki away from the crew (and her love) and to her aunt]].

* {{Those Two Guys}}: Yuno and Teinosuke, Aki's friends from her home island [[spoiler: and two of Yuriko's crew mates a bit later on in the story]].
* {{Vampire Bites Suck}}: Aki gets bitten by Kaoru during the fight on the Ghost Ship in chapter 19. Fortunately, she survives the attack and doesn't get turned into a vampire.
** Daisuke also gets bitten by Kaoru in chapter 24, because he got poisoned and Kaoru was trying to prevent the poison from killing him.
