reciting the cleanup thread, these characters don't have obvious templates. Anything superficial or composites I missed are canned.

** Rex Splode is based on ComicBook/{{Gambit}}, lacking his [[TheCharmer charm]] and suave instead being a {{Jerkass}} with a HairTriggerTemper.
** Dupli-Kate is a gender-flipped ComicBook/MultipleMan. Interestingly, whether using her powers in battle, [[MundaneUtility playing ping-pong with herself]], or [[PowerPerversionPotential having a foursome with Rex]], she tends to always create three of herself, bringing to mind [[ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes Tripilicate Girl]].
* Monster Girl is a HulkMashUp though because of a curse instead of gamma radiation. She even has anger issues in the form of her apparent age being a BerserkButton and relationship woes similar to [[Film/TheIncredibleHulk2008 the film version of Banner]].
* Black Samson is initially based on ComicBook/IronMan, though a key difference is that Samson ''had'' powers at one point and was even a Guardian [[NoodleIncident but lost them]].
* Throwbolt, Samson's opponent in the Guardian tryouts, is one to Superman villain Livewire.
* William Clockwell is Mark's GayBestFriend like Rick Stone is for [[{{ComicBook/Static}} Virgil Hawkins/Static]].

* Battle Beast is a loose take on ComicBook/{{Hawkman}} enemy Lion-Mane.
* Hail Mary, the {{kaiju}} from Episode 7, is one of [[Franchise/CthulhuMythos Cthulhu]] by being a giant nigh-invulnerable monster with an octopus head.
* Doc Seismic is one of Avengers villain Graviton. [[spoiler:Though, his appearance in ending montage of Season 1, where he's ruling over magma-monsters, is reminiscent of the [[Characters/FantasticFourCentralRoguesGallery Mole-Man]].]]
* The first episode has Nolan describe the Viltrumites as a race of intergalactic peacekeepers that possess FlyingBrick powers similar to those of Kryptonians [[ComicBook/GreenLantern filling the role of the Guardians of the Universe]]. The final episode reveals them to be [[spoiler:what the Kryptonians would be like if they followed the philosophy of [[Characters/SupermanRoguesGalleryPhantomZone General Zod]]]]. Fans have also compared their origin to the [[Anime/DragonBallZ Saiyans.]]
* The Seance Dog [[ShowWithinAShow comic Mark loves]] is about a mystical dog that seems to bear some similarity to Marvel's ComicBook/DoctorStrange, complete with yellow gloves and a red cape. A noted change from the comics Science Dog, who had a more Literature/DocSavage aesthetic.
* The Reanimen are a very clear homage to Film/{{Robocop}}, most notable their face-covering masks.

This already has a consensus. Composite examples are immediately disqualified, and only one character is applicable. It can't be both Superman and General Zod.

* Omni-Man is the obivious SupermanSubstitute, albeit without the heat vision and has ''far'' less scrupules than it initially seems. While his loyalty to the viltrum empire and ideals of galactic conquest come from General Zod.

misuse, no composites

** Ability wise, he's a morally grey ComicBook/LukeCage. By his occupation as an enforcer, he's similar to ComicBook/SpiderMan villain Tombstone.

* Cecil Stedman is ComicBook/NickFury minus the eyepatch (with shades of ComicBook/AmandaWaller); he runs a knockoff of {{ComicBook/SHIELD}} called the Global Defense Agency.

per thread, nuking composite examples on principle. Composites immediately disqualify it, and any mentions of "fan" interpretation is irrelevant and not Word Of God. On another note, no chained sinkholes.

* Mark aka Invincible is the equivalent to ComicBook/{{Superboy}}, though with a numerous of [[SpiderManSendUp send-ups to]] ComicBook/SpiderMan particularly in regard to TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife and going through high-school and college.
** Alternatively, loads of fans have likened Mark to [[Anime/DragonBallZ Gohan]], being the HalfHumanHybrid son of an warrior alien and human woman who becomes a rather dorky-looking superhero looked down upon by friends and foes alike.
* [[Characters/Invincible2021OmniMan Omni-Man]] is clearly ''Invincible''[='=]s SupermanSubstitute though he's ultimately darker. Omni-Man's white and red outfit also brings to mind both ComicBook/{{Supreme}} and the Plutonian from ''ComicBook/{{Irredeemable}}'', two other examples of the SupermanSubstitute that were used to examine comic book tropes. The final episode establishes that he's actually more of a ''General Zod'' Subsitute being part of a race of galactic conquerors.
** Alternatively, many fans have compared him to [[Anime/DragonBallZ Vegeta]]. Being warriors from a race of space conquerors who eventually had half-breed children with a woman from Earth. Like Vegeta, Nolan was more influenced by his Viltrumite upbringing and was in Debbie's words, "an asshole", in his early years and was detached from humanity, before growing into a loving husband and father... And then relapsing into his darker persona years after having a child.
** Nolan is also very similar to Son Goku himself since he was sent to Earth to as a scout for his space conqueror race but his time on Earth resulted in him GoingNative -- to the disgust of other members his race. This is also strengthened by the fact Mark aka Invincible his son, is already similar to Gohan (complete with Nolan being disappointed that his son doesn't share his lust for battle much like Goku with Gohan) and Debbie has many parallels with Chi-Chi.

** Darkwing is a CaptainErsatz of ComicBook/{{Batman}} though he lacks any obvious {{Animal Motif|s}}. Hilariously enough, he shares his name with [[WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck a certain other terror that flaps in the night]], who has made recent appearances in the 2017 ''WesternAnimation/{{DuckTales|2017}}'' series.
** Aquarius is a hydrokinetic fish-man version of ComicBook/{{Aquaman}}. A number of fans have also compared him to the recent version of King Shark that's appeared in ''WesternAnimation/HarleyQuinn''.
** War Woman is a WonderWomanWannabe, though her hammer-like weapon and transformation can invoke the Jane Foster version of ComicBook/{{Thor|2014}}/ComicBook/{{Valkyrie|MarvelComics}}, as well as [[ComicBook/NewGods Big Barda]] and [[ComicBook/{{Hawkman}} Hawkgirl]].
** Red Rush is a Russian CaptainErsatz of ComicBook/TheFlash, with his girlfriend Olga filling the role of Iris West, Barry Allen's frequent love-interest. He could also be compared to fellow speedster [[Characters/MarvelComicsQuicksilver Quicksilver]]; Quicksilver is from Transia (a [[FictionalCountry fictional Eastern European country]] in the Marvel Universe between Romania and Serbia) rather than Russia, but this could also be a nod to his much-derided portrayal in ''[[Film/AvengersAgeOfUltron Age of Ultron.]]''
** Martian Man is a {{expy}} of J'onn J'onzz, the ComicBook/MartianManhunter although his powerset is much closer to that of ComicBook/PlasticMan. His super-strength, invulnerability, and flight have been transferred to The Immortal.
** Green Ghost is the team's ComicBook/GreenLantern {{expy}}, [[GenderFlip though her change from a man to a woman]] calls specifically to either Jessica Cruz or Jennifer-Lynn Hayden. It should be noted that it's more the "green motif hero" role she fills, showing powers akin to the ComicBook/InvisibleWoman and ComicBook/KittyPryde. However, she does have a TransformationTrinket, a green gem she has to swallow to transform, similar to a Green Lantern ring.

* Damien Darkblood is modeled after ComicBook/MrA, ComicBook/TheQuestion, [[ComicBook/{{Watchmen}} Rorschach]], and ComicBook/{{Etrigan}}, with a ComicBook/{{Hellboy}} aesthetic. He also shares ComicBook/JohnConstantine's status as TheFriendNobodyLikes, his famous trench coat (shared by Hellboy), and having vaguely selfish reasons for getting justice for others.
* Atom Eve is ComicBook/MaryJaneWatson but with ComicBook/GreenLantern[=/=]ComicBook/CaptainAtom[=/=][[ComicBook/{{Watchmen}} Dr. Manhattan]]-esque powers, and [[{{Muggle}} Amber]] is meant to be ComicBook/GwenStacy sharing a LoveTriangle with Mark. Funny enough, the dynamic brings to mind [[BettyAndVeronica another famous]] LoveTriangle from a different (non-{{superhero}}) [[ComicBook/ArchieComics comic book]]. Eve can also be considered an expy of [[Characters/MarvelComicsJeanGrey Jean Grey]], being a redheaded metahuman who has the ability to alter things on the molecular level.

** Robot can be seen as ComicBook/TheVision with the aesthetics of Robotman of ComicBook/DoomPatrol. His VA Creator/ZacharyQuinto is a major CastingGag, as his character is the ComicallySerious LiteralMinded StrawVulcan of the team after three films as [[Film/StarTrek2009 Spock]].
*** After getting a new human body, he becomes a teenaged version of ComicBook/IronMan, wearing one of his old robot bodies as PowerArmor.

* Black Samson is initially based on ComicBook/IronMan, though a key difference is that Samson ''had'' powers at one point and was even a Guardian [[NoodleIncident but lost them]]. This calls to mind '''many''' a number of times and examples of [[DePower heroes losing their powers]] and donning PoweredArmor to compensate.
** His opponent in the Guardian tryouts, Throwbolt, is one to Superman villain Livewire.
* Shrinking Rae is based on [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doll_Girl Doll Girl]], a character from the UsefulNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfComicBooks, though fans' first instinct would be ComicBook/TheWasp or the Rhonda Pineda version of ComicBook/TheAtom. She is also based on Shrinking Violet.
** As the male version from the comics comes from ComicBook/TheAtom, this too is homaged... darkly. Her introduction is using her shrinking powers to go in one ear and out the other, [[ComicBook/IdentityCrisis2004 attacking from inside her foe's brain]], the same method Jean Loring used to kill Sue Dibny.
* William Clockwell is Mark's GayBestFriend like Rick Stone is for [[{{ComicBook/Static}} Virgil Hawkins/Static]] [[AdaptationDisplacement likely more known as]] [[WesternAnimation/StaticShock Richie Foley aka Gear]].
* While not a direct example, The Mauler Twins are a pair made of a GeniusBruiser and his clone; along with their initial costume, fans may be reminded of when the [[ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk Hulk]] became [[MadScientist Doc]] [[GeniusBruiser Green]] for a stretch and the recently merged version of Bruce Banner and Hulk known as "Smart-Hulk" seen in ''Film/AvengersEndgame''.
** They also invoke similarity from Marvel's minor villains the Blood Brothers, alien twin brothers known for their super strength and durability.
** One of the most direct comparisons however is to the [[Characters/JusticeSocietyOfAmericaVillains Ultra-Humanite]]. The Maulers' unique bodies have yet to be explained, but the most logical explanation is that their scientific knowhow allowed a previous Mauler to alter his DNA. This and the cloning is not unlike Ultra's gimmick of bodily transference. Originally, he was just a bald mad scientist and Superman's arch nemesis. After Superman assumed Ultra dead from their first encounter, Ultra stole an actress's body to survive. He then hopped bodies until finally settling on an enhanced mutated albino gorilla. The "twins" aspect may be an homage to the fact that the original Lex Luthor was just a CaptainErsatz of the original Ultra-Humanite, both being bald mad scientists who sought wealth and power and were Superman's arch nemesis, Ultra for Kal-L and Lex for Kal-El. Since being supplanted and having no role, Ultra has become a mid-tier villain who is often used by other characters for his brains, as he's viewed in-universe as a bargain bin Lex that can fight.
