Norman Rossington, (24 December 1928 -- 21 May 1999), was a British actor best known for playing Private "Cupcake" Cook in ''Series/TheArmyGame''.

He started acting at the David Lewis Theatre, later training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. By TheFifties, he was appearing in plays such as ''Theatre/AMidsummerNightsDream'' and ''Salad Days''. His breakthrough was in 1957, when he was cast in the first series of ''The Army Game'' as Cupcake. He reprised his role in ''I Only Arsked!'', TheMovie of ''The Army Game''.

In 1956, he appeared in ''Three Men in a Boat'', his first film. Rossington appeared in three of the ''Film/CarryOn'' films - ''Film/CarryOnSergeant'', ''Film/CarryOnNurse'', and ''Film/CarryOnRegardless'' - as well as one of the ''Series/CarryOnChristmas'' TV specials. He also appeared in films with both Music/TheBeatles (''Film/AHardDaysNight'') and Music/ElvisPresley (''Film/DoubleTrouble1967'').

Later in his life, he provided the narration for ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfPortlandBill''.

He died of cancer at the age of 70.
