Massee fired the gun that killed Lee, which had improperly constructed dummy rounds.

Massee was devastated by the accident, and as a result took a year out from acting or working at all.

He was a recurring face in film and television, making repeat appearances on ''Series/TwentyFour'', ''Series/FlashForward2009'', ''Series/{{Carnivale}}'', ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'' and ''Series/RizzoliAndIsles''. Some of his more memorable film roles were in ''Film/TheCrow'', ''Film/LostHighway'' and ''Film/{{Se7en}}''.

He passed away from stomach cancer on October 20, 2016 at the age of 64.
