Early in TheSeventies, he starred in ''Lollipop Loves Mr Mole'', playing the "Mr. Mole" to Peggy Mount's "Lollipop", and in ''Birds in the Bush''. Later in the decade, he created and starred in ''Lord Tramp''. Throughout TheEighties, he went from starring roles to doing TV plays, light entertainment, and a guest shot in ''Series/DoctorWho''.

In TheNineties, David Croft (who had created ''Birds in the Bush'') cast him in three episodes of ''Series/YouRangMLord'' as Selfridge, Sir Ralph's alcoholic butler. Lloyd also appeared in many shows in the West End.

Hugh Lewis Lloyd, [[UsefulNotes/KnightFever MBE]], (22 April 1923 -- 14 July 2008), was a British actor best known for his many appearances in {{Britcom}}s of TheSixties.

After making his start in acting with ENSA, he moved on to repertory theatre until 1957. It was in this year he made his first guest appearance in ''Series/HancocksHalfHour'' and would go on to make a further 24 by the end of 1961. The following year, he starred in ''Hugh and I'' with Creator/TerryScott. The series ran for six series and a follow-up series, ''Hugh and I Spy''. After those two series, Lloyd and Scott starred as garden gnomes in ''Series/TheGnomesOfDulwich''.
