* KissOfDeath: Played with in one issue, when Toxyn protests against the Paideia by kissing her teammates to deliver a fast-acting neurotoxin. She then blackmails the Paideia to either pardon the team and let them battle the Horde, or they can lick their lips and die instantly.

* KissingDiscretionShot: Done in issue #14, when Toxyn [[ItMakesSenseInContext kisses her teammates to protest the Paideia]]. Her kisses to the men are shown clearly, but her kisses to the women are implied, with heads blocking the action. This was presumably to avoid provoking MoralGuardians at the time.

* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Enforced by the premise of the comic; most Morituri are in their early [=20s=], so the one-year lifespan from the process all but guarantees they will die before their parents. Directly invoked with Justin Everson, father of Vyking, who angrily blames the Morituri for his son's death.

* CosyCatastrophe: Played with; although Earth is being invaded by aliens who command the skies, raid the cities, and think nothing of enslaving or killing humans, many people still continue to live in relatively normalcy. Major industries and businesses still produce goods and services, people have television and movies and other forms of entertainment, and pleasure cruises continue to operate. Somewhat justified as the Horde's long-term plan is ''not'' to completely raze the planet, but to slowly exploit it for their own enrichment.

* TooAwesomeToUse: This is the reason often given by the Paideia for not constantly sending the Morituri on attack missions -- that because humanity only had a limited number of super-humans, they should be saved for the most critical and influential missions.
