** Rock Opera was an up-and-coming rockstar and musical prodigy who specialized in rock ballads, and was on his way to global stardom when he suddenly died in a plane crash. It's believed InUniverse that had he lived, Rock Opera would have rivaled Blue Suede, his mentor, as the Second Age's greatest musician. Instead, it would be his oldest daughter, Melody, who became a famous rockstar in order to fulfill her father's dream. While he was glad Melody followed in his hoofsteps, Rock Opera was ''deeply'' embittered by his early death -- not only because his dreams were ruined, but also because he was torn away from his family. An impulsive decision to try go back to Velvet Heart in bad weather, instead of listening to his older brother and waiting it out, led to him dying young in a helicopter accident. It's ultimately defied; after seeing some celebrities obsess over their GloryDays to the point of wickedness during the '[[Literature/NightmaresAndDreamscapes Applewood Rescue]]', he realized there's no changing the past and acknowledges his own mistake that led to his death, so he lets it go and settles with what he has now. ** Averted with Eiríni and Dikastís. Despite them being twin brothers, they are fraternal as they're significantly different from each other in appearance - Dikastís is a muscular Aload divine with a red pelt and a black mane and tail, while Eiríni is a white-furred and white-haired divine Cyclops whose pelt and hair changes colors whenever he accesses his two {{SuperMode}}s.

** Averted with junior Equestrian Princesses Gold Lily and Sterling, who are fraternal twins, with Gold Lily being marginally older. Gold Lily has a gold pelt, a multi-colored blue, pink, and purple mane and tail, and a blue Cutie Mark depicting a pair of hearts intertwined within two circles. After Ascending to demi-godhood, she gained pink wings that is noted to be part of a hereditary birthmark common in her family line. Meanwhile, Sterling has a light purple coat, a rainbow-colored mane and tail, and a Cutie Mark depicting a white diamond with light radiating off of it. After Ascending to demi-godhood, she gained dark blue wings that is noted to be part of a hereditary birthmark common in her family line.
** Averted with Queen Aoide and her younger sister Princess Mese, who are fraternal twins. Mese has a light purple pelt with a mane made of orange, pink, and silver emotional energy, and her Cutie Mark is a pink pan flute. Because she never managed to Ascend to true godhood like her sister did, Mese remained a demi-goddess and is rather short because of this, though other benevolent deities like her mentor, Blue Suede Heartstrings, are interested in training her so she could Ascend to true godhood and catch up with her twin sister. Meanwhile, Aoide has a pink pelt and a blue mane and tail made of magical sound energy with purple and silver streaks running through them, and her Cutie Mark is a saxophone. Her Ascension to true godhood during the end of the Third Age, combined with absorbing wild magic trying to contain the magical meltdown caused by the Castle of Music's deteriorating state, rapidly accelerated her physical and magical growth to the point where she's slightly taller than Celestia despite her young "age" as a goddess.
** Averted with Trench Bull and her deceased sister, Sweet Dove, who are fraternal twins and thus look nothing alike. Trench Bull's entry notes that for one, she was physically larger than Sweet Dove even as a filly.

** Averted with Rhiannon and her older brother, Cernunnos. They are fraternal twins, so they have enough traits for them to be easily identified. Cernunnos gaining tree-like traits like leaves and bark on his antlers and body after receiving the domain of Rebirth [[spoiler:and fusing with his dead older brother, Orion]] only served to widen the difference gap further.

* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Subverted with divines, as they simply age ''very'' differently than mortals do while still being immortal, and only growing StrongerWithAge.
** Twilight's current form is just starting an entirely different aging process, and Celestia and Luna, while not having physically aged in over a thousand years, are not yet remotely close to fully grown.
** The considerably older Luminiferous is a "Titan"-type Alicorn (well, Alicorn-offshoot, since he's a clone made by Morning Star with intentions to use his "son" as a weapon). As such, he's not only larger, but has a natural gradient to his wings they don't, and is incredibly ancient.
** Mzazi's (who's over ''4 million'' years old) true form is a giant by normal pony standards, has a mane composed entirely of lightning, and has ''eight wings'', which she explicitly states as just how Alicorns grow. Further evidence to Mzazi's claims is Luminiferous being about to start growing his second set of wings [[spoiler:which eventually happens, as they grow out completely sometime after Prince Twilight Sparkle is included in the Church of the Stars' pantheon]].
** Ascending Dawn is also another Titan-type Alicorn, but it's stated in his entry that he's far older than Luminiferous, having six wings while Luminiferous is about to gain four. This doesn't necessarily mean that he's more powerful, and Ascending Dawn admits that Luminiferous is more powerful than he is due to his innate potential.
** While younger than Mzazi, Golden Scepter, an antediluvian Alicorn Emperor from the ruined Alicorn Civilization, is still much older than both Luminiferous and Ascending Dawn, and currently the oldest divine member of the Church of the Stars. His true form is that of a six-winged Alicorn with a mane and tail being made of black spatial energy that shows off stars and yellow giants, and his wings [[HotWings have feathers made of holy fire]]. It's mentioned in his entry that a fourth pair of wings is on the way, giving him eight wings like Mzazi once fully grown. ** Averted and deconstructed with Prince Healing Song. Despite being blinded during infancy, he still managed to become a famous and beloved musical prodigy, and Ascended to godhood while dying from cancer. At the same time, he's flawed like everyone else - while usually a humble NiceGuy, he's willing to [[SelfDeprecation joke about himself]], and can get rather sarcastic and [[BrutalHonesty blunt]], especially when people insult and/or [[CondescendingCompassion patronize]] him. He also [[MortalityPhobia feared dying one day]], but his friends helped him accept his mortality. Healing Song himself hates the "Inspirationally Disadvantaged" stereotype because it creates the toxic belief that disabled people who don't push themselves beyond their limits are automatically helpless and lazy. If a disabled person manages to Ascend to godhood like he did, then it happens and is not related to their disability in any way, though it's still an achievement worthy of praise. This motivates Healing Song to teach his students how to succeed while acknowledging their own limits.
** Averted with Guiding Light. While he's blind and has several abilities and skills to make up for it, it's noted in his entry that the Shinseina pantheon chose to Ascend him (as well as his friends) solely because of his compassion and altruism, and they taught him many things so he could fulfill his role as a Death god despite his disability. Their desire to turn him into a benevolent and proper god stems from the fact that they find a few of his flaws (namely his cynicism, morbid sense of humor, and opportunistic greed) off-putting and potentially detrimental to any good he might do as a demigod. Guiding Light also gets irritated whenever someone [[CondescendingCompassion pities him and/or gives him special treatment for being blind]], and is close to his friends in the BHCIT [[VitriolicBestBuds despite their constant ribbing]] because they treat him as part of the group rather than an invalid.
** Averted with Spell Cyclone. She is a paraplegic Magical Filly and requires a wheelchair to get around, which would normally make her an easier target in Meridia, so she developed her sniping skills and magic to make up for this. She hates the idea of pushing herself beyond her normal limits in order to be something of worth to others, a view shared by Prince Healing Song, who is blind and would later become her friend. She welcomes Maelstrom's insults because it means the latter really cares for her and treats her like an equal.
** Averted with Prince Crimson Star. Originally, he wasn't blind, but he was such an InsufferableGenius that after he was blinded saving a classmate from a runaway carriage, he was [[SenseLossSadness rather depressed by it]], and eventually [[CallItKarma came to believe that his blindness was a "punishment" for his own foolishness]]. He did manage to become an Alicorn demigod later on, but it's because he [[TheAtoner made amends for his bad behavior]] and used his knowledge and talents for good, not because he became disabled. In addition, despite his royal demi-divine status and great power, he is flawed like any other person, and his relationships with some of his brothers, like Fanged Paw, can get vitriolic.

InUniverse, Healing Song himself hates the "Inspirationally Disadvantaged" stereotype 'inspirationally disadvantaged' trope because it creates of the toxic belief that disabled people who don't push themselves beyond mentality it promotes, and helps students defy this by teaching them how to succeed while also acknowledging their limits are automatically helpless and lazy. own limits. If a disabled person manages they manage to Ascend to godhood like he did, then it happens and is not related to their disability in any way, though happens, but it's still an achievement worthy of praise. This motivates Healing Song to teach his students how to succeed while acknowledging their own limits.
praise.
** Averted with [[Manga/TheKurosagiCorpseDeliveryService Guiding Light. While he's Light]] is also a blind Alicorn and has several abilities and skills abilities/skills to make up for it, but it's noted in his entry that the Shinseina pantheon chose to Ascend him (as well as his friends) Ascension came about solely because of [[KarmicJackpot the Shinseina Pantheon was impressed by his compassion and altruism, and they taught him many things so he could fulfill altruism]]. And like his role as a Death god despite his disability. Their desire to turn him into a benevolent and proper god stems from friends in the fact that they find Black Heron Corpse Investigation Team, he's a few of his flaws (namely his cynicism, cynical person with a morbid sense of humor, humor (due to being around corpses all the time) and opportunistic greed) greed, which his divine peers genuinely find off-putting and potentially detrimental to any good he might do as a demigod. in the future. Despite their [[VitriolicBestBuds constant ribbing]], Guiding Light also gets irritated whenever someone [[CondescendingCompassion pities him and/or gives him special treatment for being blind]], and is close to his friends in the BHCIT [[VitriolicBestBuds despite their constant ribbing]] because since they treat him as part of the group rather than an gang instead of a helpless invalid.
** Averted with Spell Cyclone. She Cyclone of the [[MagicalGirlWarrior Nightmare Breakers]] is a paraplegic Magical Filly and requires a wheelchair to get around, which around. This would normally make her an easier target in Meridia, [[DeathWorld Meridia]], with EverythingTryingToKillYou in full force, so she developed her sniping skills and magic to make up for this. She hates the idea of pushing herself beyond her normal limits in order to be something of worth to others, a view shared by Prince Healing Song, who is blind and would later become her friend. She welcomes Maelstrom's insults because it means the latter really cares for her and treats her like an equal.
** Averted with [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Prince Crimson Star. Originally, he Star]] originally wasn't blind, but he was such an InsufferableGenius that after he was blinded saving a classmate from a runaway carriage, he was [[SenseLossSadness rather depressed by it]], and eventually [[CallItKarma came to believe that eventually saw his blindness was as a "punishment" for his own foolishness]].

** Changeling culture and society abhors anyone of their own race doing this to the point of considering it an offence punishable by exile to the Winter Court, as denying reality is seen as detrimental to their own kind's survival, since reality will never accommodate their worldviews. This ironically makes Changelingkind, which thrives ''by necessity'' upon deceiving non-Changelings, one of the more (internally) objective and honest cultures on Equus as much as it is among the most secretive and mysterious.

Because Changelingkind values survival above all else, denying reality is seen as detrimental to their own kind's survival, since reality will never accommodate their worldviews. ** Despite the ancient, bloody feud between their species, it's suggested the Dragons and Changelings actually complement one another extremely well and would be better off allies instead of enemies. It seems [[TheParagon Luminiferous]] has specifically chosen Thorax and Ember to raise up as proof of this fact, empowering them twice to act on it. Notably, when lent his future potential, Thorax became a Changeling Divine, something even the power-hungry Summer Court had long wrote off as [[BeyondTheImpossible impossible for anyone to achieve]], implying the feud really ''is'' just holding everyone back.
