This setting is based on the [[Anime/YuGiOh5Ds third Yu-gi-oh series]] with fan favorites Jack Atlas and Crow Hogan making a return to the series. However, they are alternate counterparts to their originals, done most likely to avoid confusion.

In truth, he is not associated with Academia at all, with this being a misunderstanding on the Resistance's part. He claims he has lost someone precious to him, and is desperately trying to find them.

He uses a Speedroid deck that also includes his Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.
----
!!Tropes associated with Yugo:
* {{Adorkable}}: The first thing the guy thinks when he arrives in an icy duel field is that he's in an apocalyptic ice-age future. Later becomes confused when he goes into the lava duel field, making him think just what the hell is wrong with the dimension he's in.
* AllThereInTheManual: How his name and alleged crime are revealed.
* AllegedLookalikes: Similar to Yuto, Yuya comments that Yugo looks exactly like him. Anyone could easily tell them apart at a glance. Seems to have been noticed, given that Yuya later corrects himself to stating that their faces look similar, which they do.
* AnimeHair: Blue and blond, with spiral spikes. The blond part looks like a banana.
* ArchEnemy: Appears to be one for Yuto but later revealed to be just a huge misunderstanding.
* AscendedExtra: Yugo essentially becomes a main character during the Synchro Dimension saga, protecting Yuzu from the authorities.
* {{Badass}}: He defeats [[spoiler:Yuto]], and he is able to take out multiple people at once.
* BadassBiker: ''ARC-V's'' return of the D-Wheel is indeed awesome. Episode 47 reveals his awesome riding techniques.
* BerserkButton:
** Getting his name wrong. So far, he has been mistaken by the Resistance ''and'' Academia as being affiliated with the Fusion Dimension due to his name sounding almost like the same as the Japanese word for Fusion, and as Yuya because they look similar. This becomes a little joke in the commercial of ''Crossover Souls''.
** Seeing people get hurt in front of him makes him angry, as seeing the Obelisk Force duelists causes him to flashback to images of their attacks.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He crashes his D-Wheel, has NoSocialSkills and is constantly irritated at his name being messed up. He's also a duelist capable of defeating Yuto.
* BigDamnHeroes: Two in Episode 47, first when he rescues Yuu Sakuragi, and then when he saves Yuzu by inadvertently causing Yuri to teleport away, though he mistook her for Rin.
* BlondGuysAreEvil: [[MultiColoredHair Sort of]]. It's implied, but in actuality is averted. He couldn't be further from evil.
* BlowYouAway: His ace monster, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, is WIND-Attribute, as are his Speed Roid monsters.
* BorrowedCatchphrase: During the mysterious synchronization he had with Yuya, Yugo used his trademark catchphrase "The fun's just getting started!".
* ChildhoodFriends: With Rin. Both of them grew up in the slums.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: He was pretty blushy when Yuzu suggested Rin is his girlfriend.
* CosmicPlaything: Mild example, but if it's not Yuzu's bracelet, it's Clear Wing Synchro Dragon that's warping him all over the place as it chooses.
* CovertPervert: He's very interested in Rin being his girlfriend (despite denying that she was), and in episode 62 he is clearly staring at [[MaleGaze Yuzu's chest]], when commenting Rin's clothes should fit her.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Bit of an inversion, of all things that zigzags all over the place. He's introduced as a RedHerring ally of Academia that apparently devastated Heartland. He turns out to be a bit of a goofball, but immediately defeats Yuto upon his first appearance. The next time he shows up, he's acting like even ''more'' of an idiot, but then beats two guys at once, and later defeats three Obelisk Force members in one turn.
* TheDreaded: Yuto does not talk about him lightly. Though he may have been an UnreliableNarrator since Yugo's first appearance in the main series is his accidentally crashing into a street light camera and then being surprised to see Yuto there.
* DynamicEntry: Subverted. He comes into the Standard Dimension with a flash of light but accidentally hits a street light camera. Played straight when he busts in to save Yuu.
* {{Expy}}: His deck is one to [[Anime/YuGiOh5Ds Yusei's]], being comprised mostly by Machine-Type monsters and having a [[BlowYouAway WIND-Attribute]] Synchro Dragon as its ace, but also a little with Jack's using the same Power Deck tactics. In personality, however, he is a lot more like [[Anime/YuGiOhGX Judai]] or [[Anime/YuGiOhZexal Yuma]]. He was instantly eager to duel upon seeing Yuto and doesn't even bother to introduce himself to Yuya, and he appears to be clumsy like Yuma, since he crashed into a street light camera. [[spoiler:But his background is similar to Yusei's. Being a orphan that built his own D-Wheel.]]
* EyeObscuringHat: During his first appearance, his eyes are covered by the glass part of his helmet. The second opening briefly shows them, albeit covered by the tinted helmet visor.
* TheFaceless: Initially. Although parts of his face were shown in flashbacks and the second opening, the whole of it was not. His face was first shown in supplements, [[http://imgur.com/h34Hgyv here.]]
* {{Foil}}: He's one to [[Anime/YuGiOh5Ds Yusei]] whose series is an alternative version of his dimension. Yusei was the TheStoic, that didn't like to talk and was a genius. Yugo is hot headed, talkative and something of an idiot.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: [[spoiler:He and Yuto both get this while dueling.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[InvokedTrope Invokes this]] upon the members of Obelisk Force he Dueled, wiping all 3 of them out with effect damage caused by their own card.
* HypocriticalHumor: He gets mad at being confused for one of his counterparts, yet he consistently manages to screw up Yuzu's name, including mistaking her for Rin because she was wearing Rin's clothing. And this was after he said she should.
** He later complains about Yuzu not using her duel in the Friendship Cup to tell the audience about the interdimensional war as she said she would, only to do the same in his duel against Sawatari.
* IWillFindYou: His goal is to find Rin, no matter where she is.
* IcyBlueEyes: His eyes are a cold blue, indicating that he's [[RuleOfCool cool]] but also implying (though it's ultimately subverted) that he's a cold villainous type.
* IdenticalStranger: To Yuya and by extension Yuto. He doesn't even seem fazed by this, at least in Episode 36, though that's probably because he'd already met Yuto and Yuri before (and as he later reveals, he barely even paid any attention to Yuya!)
* IdiotHero: Seems pretty likely. He once tried to interrogate two people who were unconscious.
* TheIllegible: His handwriting is terrible, justified in that he probably didn't have much education due to where he lives.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: His ace is revealed to be Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, similar to Yuya's and Yuto's, despite running a Machine-based Speedroid deck.
* IronicName: His name sounds pretty similar to the Japanese word for Fusion, but he's a Synchro user - which turns out to be a significant plot point.
* {{Irony}}: Comes from the world that represents ''5D's'', often considered the darkest, most serious spinoff series of ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'', but is easily the goofiest of the Yuya's.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: Yugo completely decimating the Obelisk Force members.
* LightIsNotGood: Dresses in white and rides a shining motorcycle - also a harbinger of desolation and ruin or so we thought. He also wields Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, which, although not LIGHT-Attribute, is very brightly colored and was obscured by a white glow.
* LostInTranslation: The Resistance mistaking him for an agent of Academia is due to a Japanese wordplay which doesn't work in English: Yūgo's name is pronounced in almost exactly as the word for Fusion, "Yūgō".
* ManInWhite: Fulfilled both the "Color scheme" and "Dangerous fella" part of the trope.
* MrExposition: He acts as one when telling [[spoiler:Yuzu]] of his childhood with Rin, how Rin was kidnapped by Yuri, how his rivalry with Yuto began and how City works. Although, he concludes some of these things after telling [[spoiler:her]] what he knows.
* MultiColoredHair: Has blue and blond hair.
* MythologyGag: This guy is a big one to Yusei Fudo, having a D-Wheel/Duel Runner, a similar helmet, and a white-and-blue WIND-Attribute Dragon-Type Synchro Monster with 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF as his ace card. However, his Dragon is Level 7 as opposed to Stardust's Level 8, probably to go along with Odd-Eyes. Clear Wing Synchro Dragon also has circuitry pattern TronLines running through its wings, referencing the use of circuitry motifs on most products in the ''5D's'' era.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: [[spoiler:The guy doesn't seem to understand the idea, he was way too close to Yuzu in episode 54 as a result.]]
* NoSocialSkills: Implied, since the first thing he does after crashing into a street light camera is challenging Yuto, not even bothering to introduce himself to Yuya. Later he beats Takeda and Umesugi up before they could answer his questions. He later admits to Yuzu that he has a bad habit of saying things without thinking and he needs Rin to keep him in line.
* NotHelpingYourCase: He tries to help Yuzu when she tries to tell people about the invasion, but looks like a crazy person when he tries to have Clear Wing move him across dimensions.
* NotSoDifferent: To Yuto. Both of them have lost someone precious to them and are desperately trying to find them, and both possess one of the Odd-Eyes counterparts.
** In terms of personality, he is most similar to Yuya: both can be silly and annoy others, both care about their precious person (Yugo is less subtle about his feelings), both hate seeing others get hurt, etc. Compared to Yuto, who is mostly stoic and Yuri, who's downright evil.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Any time he drops the anger and hot-headedness means that he's being deadly serious.
* PunnyName: His name Yūgo is a pun to "Yūgō" ("Fusion"), which doubles as an IronicName. The O in his name is slightly shorter.
* RedHerring: The claims of him being a Fusion agent were proven false, and a distraction from the Academia reveal.
* TheRival: Yuto's. They loathe each other [[spoiler:due to Yuri taking their precious person and then mistaking the other for Yuri.]]
* RunningGag: Getting his name wrong. Either calling him Yūgō "Fusion" or any of his counterparts' names. Or thinking he's on the Fusion Dimension's side because of his name.
* ShadowArchetype: Though a WIND monster, his dragon is another for Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, having effects that negates both effects of Level 5 or higher monsters and having monster effects that target a Level 5 or higher monster. Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is also one to Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, as Clear Wing gains the base-ATK of monsters it destroys with its effects.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: When Yuzu suggests Rin is his girlfriend, Yugo denies it with a blushy, happily looking face.
* ShipTease: He has called Rin his precious person. And when he thought Yuzu was Rin, he quickly ran up to her and hugged her saying he missed her.
** Case in Point
-->'''Yuzu''': "Isn't that right? She's your girlfriend? "
-->'''Yugo''': [with a huge smile on his face] "No no no no no! She's just my childhood friend. She's not my girlfriend or anything, 'cause we haven't done anything yet..."
* SlasherSmile: During his first clash with Yuto, which was only in Yuto's perspective. In Yugo's flashback, Yugo didn't smile at all.
* SmugSmiler: In the second opening.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His name is romanized as "Hyugo". An official website of the series spells his name as "Hugo".
* SplitPersonality: [[spoiler:It appears in his duel with Yuto, making him much more malevolent, and a borderline OmnicidalManiac, just like Yuto. After winning, he snaps out of it, being unaware of what he did.]]
* {{Synchronization}}: [[spoiler: When he duels Sawatari, he and Yuya mentally synchronize. Allowing him to make effective use of an Action Card to avoid losing to Sawatari.]]
* TeleportersAndTransporters: Clear Wing Synchro Dragon can teleport Yugo across dimensions, [[spoiler:but he can't control where he goes.]]
* TwinTelepathy: Although they aren't technically twins, [[spoiler:Yugo mysteriously synced with Yuya as the former was dueling, giving the impression that they were both contributing to Yugo's victory.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: The fact that he's a RedHerring and what his personality really looks like, it's hard to talk about Yugo being not an enemy. Especially since he's hanging out with Yuzu now.
* WhosOnFirst: The entire reason for his rivalry with the Resistance.
* WholeCostumeReference: Yugo's outfit and helmet resemble Yusei's own clothes and helmet.
* WildCard: Yugo so far is the only character not attached to any faction or school. He does not know which faction captured Rin or that Resistance and Academia are two different ones because he thought Yuto was Yuri, the person who kidnapped Rin. This is until Yuzu told him about what she heard.
* WorthyOpponent: He sees Sawatari as this, impressed by their duel.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Upon teleporting to an icy Action Field, his first assumption was that he had gone to a world where all of humanity had been wiped out by an Ice Age.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: His hair is blue in the back and blond in the front.

[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7cd3c92158c98215b4ecf5a7475d8e7c.png]]

A girl who comes from the same place as Yugo. Her whereabouts are unknown, but she was captured by Yuri on behalf of Professor Leo Akaba. The only known card in her deck is the Gemini monster, Lucky Pied Piper.
----
!!Tropes associated with Rin:
* ActionGirl: Yugo stated she also had done a riding duel before in the omakes.
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:Defeated and spirited away by the Fusion Dimension. Yuri mentions that her personality was comparable to Yuzu's, implying she also resisted him in her kidnapping. Although, we only saw her being cornered by Yuri against a wall in a flashback.]]
* BlowYouAway: Her shown monster is wind-attribute.
* BrownEyes: She's CloserToEarth than Yugo.
* ChekhovMIA: Like Ruri, she, Yuzu and Serena are somehow important to Leo Akaba's plot, so it is certain she will appear at some point. However, she has appeared in flashbacks before Ruri.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Yugo. Both of them grew up in the slums.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: See Yugo.
* CloserToEarth: Than Yugo, often reprimanding him like a mother reprimanding a child.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Her hair color resembles the Rings when a Synchro Summon is performed. She also wears blue, white, and pink to contrast with Yuzu's purple and pink and Serena's red.
* HairDecorations: Averted to contrast Yuzu and Serena.
* IdenticalStranger: To Yuzu. When Yugo saw Yuzu, he thought she was Rin and hugged her.
* IdiotHair: She has a light green-turquoise one.
* MagneticPlotDevice: Like Yuzu and Serena, she has a bracelet. But [[spoiler:her bracelet doesn't send the various Yu's away when they meet as shown when she was kidnapped]].
* MultiColoredHair: Has light green-turquoise hair and two bangs that are light green, similar to Yuzu and Serena.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent: The only known card in her Deck is Lucky Pied Piper.
* ShipTease: With Yugo, the fact that Yugo felt comfortable enough to hug her is pretty telling
* {{Tsundere}}: Type B, towards Yugo. Even though she cares for Yugo, she occasionally yells at him for doing things he shouldn't do.
* WrenchWench: She and Yugo built a D-Wheel together.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has light green-turquoise hair.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A, though with boots and shorts.

[[folder:Jack Atlas]]
!!Jack Atlas
!!Voiced by: Creator/TakanoriHoshino
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jack_atlas_arc_v.png]]

An alternate version of Jack Atlas from ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds''. He was originally a Common, but he won the Friendship Cup and eventually has become the Duel King afterwards, climbing up to the Tops and becoming a hero figure for the Commons. He uses a Red deck, which also includes the Resonator archetype.
----
!!Tropes associated with Jack:
* AcquiredSituationalNarcissism: Jack has gained a reputation for being arrogant and rude since his victory in the Friendship Cup and his subsequent fame and fortune. Possibly Subverted.
* AdaptationalBadass: While he was certainly a great duelist in ''5Ds'', it was implied Godwin set up {{Jobber}}s to throw matches against Jack to build up his reputation, with one confirmed instance of such. Here, he's legitimately undefeated, and [[spoiler:deals a One-Turn Kill to Yuya]] in their duel.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In ''5Ds'', he got to New Domino by stealing Yusei's Stardust Dragon and D-Wheel as part of a deal with Yeager and Goodwin. This time around, Jack won his way out of Commons by winning a dueling tournament.
* ArtEvolution: Jack looks more masculine and older than he did in ''5D's''.
* {{Badass}}: Jack won the Friendship Cup 3 years ago and since then he has regularly dueled the winners of the Friendship Cup and still hasn't lost. [[spoiler:Or in his duel with Yuya, where he defeated Yuya in 3 turns.]]
* BadassBiker: He's a D-wheeler just like the original Jack.
* BadassLongcoat: Just like the original.
* BaseBreaker: InUniverse example. After becoming king, the Commons were split in half over their opinion of him. Some think he's a symbol of hope for them to win their way to Tops, such as Yugo, others think the fame changed him and that he's a traitor, such as Crow.
* CastingAShadow: It attacks with fire, but Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend is DARK-attribute.
* TheChessmaster: As both a duellist and entertainer. Jack deliberately manipulates the flow of a duel so that, aside of winning within the number of turns he's declared, he can work up the crowd by making things more dramatic.
* ChickMagnet: Episode 64 showed he has plenty of fangirls.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Growing up alone in commons, he compares his eyes back then to Reira's.
* FamedInStory: Jack is very famous in the Synchro Dimension for being the Duel King ''and'' being from the Commons. This contrasts with the Jack from ''5D's'', whose origin, Satellite, was kept a secret from the public when he was still the Duel King.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Jack and Red Dragon Archfiend Scar-right appear silhouetted at the end of the third opening's first version, with Jack being shown in full later.
** Sam bases his belief of Jack being a traitor who looks down on the commons based on the card he was given being a low level, low attack monster. [[spoiler:Looking at the card however, you can see the coloration is that of an ''effect'' monster (a tuner, going by it's name) meaning it's highly likely that Sam greatly misread what Jack was trying to tell him).]] Hinting that Jack might not be what he thinks.
* HeroAntagonist: While Jack isn't a bad guy, he stands as an obstacle that Yuya and the Lancers must beat to get their message across to the City
* IJustWantToBeBadass: When he got his first card, [[spoiler:Tuning Magician]], he resolved to be the strongest person to return his card to the Tops.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: His ace is Red Daemon's Dragon Scar-right.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Appears to be one, just like the original.
* LargeHam: It's Jack. Not matter which dimension this is, this is an unavoidable truth.
* PetTheDog: He is very kind to Reira, and [[spoiler: and though Sam didn't understand, he gave him his first card, Tuning Magician, to send him on the same path as him.]]
* PlayingWithFire: So far all his monsters have fire motifs. Especially his Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives a brief, though telling one to Yuya, telling him his Entertainment duel is only self-satisfaction.
* SelfMadeMan: He was originally a Common, but he climbed up to the Tops and is now the Duel King. Unlike in ''5D's'', this Jack seems to be really a SelfMadeMan.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His ace monster suffers from this. Its name can be read as either Red Daemon's Dragon Scarright (reflecting its scarred appearance and the bony cast around its right arm) or Red Daemon's Dragon Scarlight (reflecting the scars and how they light up with flames when it uses its effect, also a loose pun on 'Scarlet'). The English card game went with Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend.
* SpoilerOpening: To anyone even somewhat familiar with Jack Atlas, the fact his appearance in the OP is silhouetted changes nothing.
* TheStoic: Surprisingly, he hasn't said a word outside of his duels and his dinner with the Akabas.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He's considered the best duelist of the City.

[[folder:Crow Hogan]]
!!Crow Hogan

[[quoteright:195:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/11828a642238ff46765bc680b72851a1.jpg]]

An alternate version of Crow Hogan from ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds''. He uses an Assault Blackwing Deck, which includes the old Blackwings and new Assault Blackwings.
----
!!Tropes associated with Crow:
* ArtEvolution: Crow looks more masculine than he did in ''5D's''.
* {{Badass}}: He defeats Gongenzaka in a duel by Accel Synchroing, though he does not call it an Accel.
* BadassBiker: Comes with riding a D-Wheel.
* BigDamnHeroes: Crow and his gang come out of nowhere to save Yuya and his group after they were surrounded by Security.
* CastingAShadow: The Blackwings and Assault Blackwings are DARK-attribute.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: He ended up in one of the City's camps, which is why he has his facial markings here.
* DarkIsNotEvil: His Blackwings and Assault Blackwings are black in color, but Crow is a good guy.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: His Assault Blackwings seem to be designed for Accel Synchros.
* FriendToAllChildren: This Crow seems to have the same soft spot for children like the ''5D's'' version [[spoiler:The reason he rescued Yuya and the others was because of Yuya's attempt to protect Reira.]]
* {{Flanderization}}: Crow is all about food and kids this time around. Which considering how he lives, is [[TearJerker tragic]].
* GenreSavvy: Although he questions the dimensional travel claim when Sawatari says it, he believes Yuya, and accepts it as the truth.
* JerkassFacade: He puts on one in episode 62 since he and Shinji are planning a prison break, and pushes Yuya at arm's length because he knows friends left behind get punished for escape attempts.
* LargeHam: "Hungry Dueling" indeed. He isn't quite as hammy as the original Crow though.
* ManChild: His argument and duel with Yuya in Episode 59 definitively shows he has some shades of this.
* MoralityChain: The three kids are this for him.
* MrExposition: He explains Tops and Commons to Yuya, Serena, and Sawatari.
* NiceGuy: Saves Yuya and his group, and then goes to find Yugo and Yuzu since they cannot. Though he becomes a little more jerkish later.
* NobleBirdOfPrey: The Assault Blackfeathers are a bit humanoid but count as this.
* ObsessedWithFood: He considers a full stomach to be more important than anything. Considering where he lives, he has a point.
* ParentalSubstitute: For the three kids, Tanner, Frank, And Amanda.
* RedOniBlueOni: With Shinji, being far more emotional than Shinji's logical calm.
* ShockAndAwe: The Assault Blackwings have lightning in their attacks and summoning chants.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: He has a low opinion about Yuya's smiling philosophy, claiming that just having a full stomach should be enough for happiness.
* TattooedCrook: Just like the previous Crow; and like the previous Crow, he isn't a bad guy by any definition.

[[folder:Jean-Michel Roger]]
!!Jean-Michel Roger
!!Voiced by: Masamichi Kitada
[[quoteright:125:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jean_michel_roger.png]]

The head of Security.
----
!!Tropes associated with Roger:
* ArcVillain: The main antagonist of the Synchro arc, or at least the first part of it.
* BadassBoast: His response to the threat of a riot thanks to [[spoiler:Shinji]]? Had it happened, Security could have handled it.
* BerserkButton: He seems to hate being overruled, as both of his not so stoic moments are when the council effectively put him in his place.
* BlondGuysAreEvil: He's the ArcVillain, and his hair is a very pale blond.
* ChessMotif: He is associated with chess, as he tends to play with chess figures while monitoring the City. If one pays attention, he's actually mapping out how things are going and how he predicts they will go.
* TheChessmaster: He spends several episodes tracking the Lancers and gathering information on them before he makes his move against them.
* CleopatraNose: His nose is prominent when he is shown from the side.
* CorruptCop: [[spoiler: Lets Gallager know when a crackdown is happening to arrest people, so he'll find good duelists for him to use as pawns.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Declines to have Yuugo and Yuzu arrested before they get to the Friendship Cup, since it would be cruel to not at least let them get to see Jack Atlas Dueling. [[spoiler:Once the duel ends on the other hand, he ''does'' attempt to have Security arrest them, only for the council to step in.]]
* EvilGenius: His defining trait is how very competent and effective he is. He noticed that Yugo had yet to activate his face-down card, and tried to prevent Duel Chaser 227 from attacking because Yugo will use that card to stop himself from losing. He also monitored Security's duel with Yuya and Serena, and from their different dueling tactics recognized they clearly aren't Yugo and Yuzu. [[spoiler:He shows this especially in episode 59, where he captures five of the Lancers, and later is prepared for them when they break out of prison and just captures them again as they try to swim the moat around the Facility.]]
* {{Expy}}: Appears to be one to Goodwin from ''5D's''. He also resembles a younger [[Anime/YuGiOhZexal Dr. Faker]]. The chess motif might be a minor nod to Gozaburo.
* FantasticRacism: Or in this case, classism. His claims about wanting to "clean up the City" and the way he seems to view all Commons as "undesirables" are eerily reminescent of real-life cases of such discrimination.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He's TheStoic, but he allows Yugo and Yuzu's entry into the Friendship Cup so he can arrest them in front of everyone as [[MakeAnExampleOfThem an example]] in front of the Commons, while sounding sadistically pleased, bringing him some shades of this trope.
* FrenchJerk: His name is French and he's a real dick.
* IcyBlueEyes: He's TheStoic with blue eyes.
* InsaneTrollLogic: He says the Lancers are criminals and must be punished. Their crime; resisting Security. Yuya rightfully points out that Security attacked ''them'' when they hadn't done anything yet. Roger changes the subject, but it's clear he has no rebuttal for that.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: We have no idea what he wants. [[spoiler:He seems to be connected to the Fusion Dimension as he gave 227 a Fusion Monster and Polymerization. He seems interested in creating chaos in the City]]
* LastNameBasis: Promotional materials refer to him by his last name.
* TheMole: [[spoiler:It's strongly implied he's in league with the Fusion Dimension and Academia. If he isn't, at least he knows about them and kept quiet about it to the Executive Council. Episode 73 reveals that there is a rumor that he came from another dimension and brought Real Solid Vision with him 10 years ago, making it very likely that he's from the Fusion Dimension.]]
* NotSoStoic: He finally loses his cool a bit in Episode 63, when the Executive Council pulls rank as the leaders of City and [[spoiler:oversees the handling of the Lancers.]] He was also very pissed when the council protect Yuzu and Yugo, yelling at them and smashing his fist on his chess board.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Similar to Reiji, he remains in his office to direct his officers, though it may be justified since he hasn't been seen to duel (though he has the intelligence for it).
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: To an extent. The social divide between Tops and Commons notwithstanding, he conducts business in a cool and professional manner, and takes into account the safety of citizens of both areas when overseeing a Riding Duel. [[spoiler:When Security invades the underground Riding Duel arena, he orders the Tops citizens evacuated safely and quietly before Security busts in and arrests the Commons citizens.]] And while he fired 227 after he lost to Yugo, [[spoiler:it seems that he's given him a second chance by participating in the Friendship Cup]].
* TheStoic: When Serena Fusion Summons and Yuya Pendulum Summons, he's the only one among his men who isn't shocked, and just calmly remarks on how he's never seen such techniques before. Even seeing the camera switched on with Yuya's Hip Hippo faceplanting towards it barely fazes him.
* SurroundedByIdiots: He's competent, but he has this problem with the Prison Facility staff, [[spoiler: who were distracted by a bunch of rare cards and allowed the Lancers to escape.]]
** He seems to be aware of this but unbothered by it, [[spoiler: which makes sense if he does turn out to be from Fusion.]]
* VillainTakesAnInterest: In the Lancers, especially the Serena and her fusion summoning, making him a MemeticMolester to some. [[spoiler:He seems interested in Fusion as a whole. Him paying more attention to Yuzu's duel when she fused.]]
* YouHaveFailedMe: He fires Duel Chaser 227 after he lost against Yugo.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Security]]
!!Security

''ARC-V'' version of Sector Security, that enforce the law. They use Vigilante and Goyo decks, the latter being monsters that can Special Summon the opponents' monsters from the graveyard after destroying them.
----
!!Tropes associated with Security:
* AdaptationalVillainy: In 5D's Security was a bit corrupt at times, but they were dealing with violent criminals. Here they just oppress a populace. Averted with the Facility Warden, who unlike Takasu is as wacky as the rest of the facility guards.
* BadassBiker: The Duel Chasers duel on police D-Wheels like the ones from ''5D's''. They also enforce this trope as they have to entertain the Tops with their Riding Dueling.
* CorruptCop: Given they enforce a cruel system like the one in the City, yes they are. Especially the easily bribed facility guards.
* DishingOutDirt: The majority of their monsters are of the EARTH Attribute.
* DuelsDecideEverything: Averted, unlike in ''5D's''. The only reason Security duel the criminals is because of entertaining the Tops. If they lose, they still chase them.
* FacelessMooks: The faces of the Duel Chasers are hidden by helmets.
* GasMaskMooks: The Arrest Corps.
* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: While most of Security is competent, the Facility ones are not, being easily distracted by a hoard of rare cards in the breakout of the Lancers, Tokumatsu, Crow, Shinji, and Damon.
* KnightTemplar: Say any tactic is worthwhile if it catches the thief. And beating them in a duel doesn't mean they'll stop chasing you.
* MythologyGag: The Goyo series was implemented by Ushio back in 5D's, but only with one monster.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Though momentarily confused by Yuya's Entertainment Dueling antics, they just stoically continue to play professionally, and say they're not playing a game. Averted with the Facility guards.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler:Security has shown a disturbing lack of restraint towards children as seen in Yugo's duel against the Duel Chaser. Or Yuya's duel against Security, they refuse to hold back their punches and simply mock their opponents.]]

[[folder: Duel Chaser 227]]

!!Duel Chaser 227
!!Voiced by: Hiroki Goto

A Duel Chaser that works for Security, that is first shown dueling Yugo and losing his job. Roger later gives him a second chance, and he returns in the Friendship Cup. He is given a Goyo Fusion monster by Roger. Like others in security, he runs a Goyo Deck.
----
!! Tropes associated with Duel Chaser 227:
* AlasPoorVillain: It isn't fatal, [[spoiler: but Yuya is horrified that he put him on a stretcher and caused him to become a slave.]]
* BadassBiker: He is a Duel Chaser.
* ChessMotifs: He borrows some in his duel with Yuya, such as saying "Checkmate."
* ClarkKentOutfit: He's extremely fit when shown out of uniform.
* DishingOutDirt: He runs a Goyo deck.
* {{Expy}}: He's most similar to [[Anime/Yugioh5Ds Tetsu Ushio]], being a prideful Duel Chaser that loses to Commons D-Wheeler, Yugo.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He is one for Security, see KnightTemplar and NoNonsenseNemesis.
* TheFaceless: His face is only shown in shadow without his helmet and shades.
* KnightTemplar: See Security
* MadeASlave: [[spoiler: He gets sent there for losing in the Friendship Cup.]]
* MauveShirt: He isn't named, but he is the Security member with the most personality.
* MeaningfulName: The character code name 227 is a reference to 227 rules for fully ordained monks in Theravada Buddhism.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: See Security.
* OnlyKnownByHisNickname: Roger even invokes this, calling him by his old title.
* PrideBeforeAFall: He had a perfect arrest record, before he screwed up on television and got fired, where he was demoted to Commons and arrested.
* PunchClockVillain: He's a member of Security, but most of his antagonism is just doing his job. [[spoiler:And while everyone else has no problem with what happens to the Friendship Cup losers, he just tells Yuya he should duel in the unjust tournament anyway]].
* RichesToRags: Well maybe not Rich, but he was a Tops due to being in Security, but his loss gets him sent to Commons.
* ShutUpKirk: When Yuya talks about the [[spoiler:fate of the Friendship Cup losers]], he tells him to either duel or surrender.
* TearsOfJoy: When his boss gives him a second chance.
* YouHaveFailedMe: He gets fired by Roger for losing, but he gets a second chance.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Executive Council]]
!!The Executive Council
The leaders of City: White Taki, Bordeaux, Gael, Gray, and Azul.
----
!!Tropes associated with the Executive Council:
* AmbiguouslyEvil: They may have saved the Lancers from Roger, but they still control the classist City, and some of their dialogue implies they are not as kind as they act. [[spoiler:Episode 68 reveals that the losers of the Friendship Cup do in fact get sent to forced labor.]]
* AnimeHair: Taki might be balding, but his eyebrows are not only chin-length, but braided.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Their outfits are each primarily white, red, yellow, grey, and blue.
* ColorfulThemeNaming: The are all named after colors.
** White Taki is obviously named after the color white.
** Bordeaux is named after a shade of red.
** Gael is derived from the German word "gelb", which means "yellow".
** Gray is named after the color grey.
** Azul is named after azure. Azul is also the Spanish word for blue.
* DiabolusExMachina: Inverted. Just as the heroes finally seem to have no hope of escape, they appear before Jean-Michel Roger and tells him they're taking control of the situation. They subsequently prove being much more reasonable than him, and it's for the benefit of the Lancers that they intervened.
* GreaterScopeVillain: As the leaders of City, they outrank Roger and can override his authority. However, the "villain" part is subverted -- they aren't evil at all. Maybe.
* KickTheDog: Their rather snide comments during Yuya's duel with 227.
* ALighterShadeOfGrey: Compared to Jean, they are easily the lesser evil. They were willing to give the Lancers a chance to prove their case and later protected all of them from Jean. [[spoiler:But the fact that they send the losers to a forced lifetime in the underground dump shows they aren't exactly good people.]]
* PetTheDog: They consider Yuzu a Lancer, so the Lancers can be considered tying with Synchro Dimension after the first day of the Friendship Cup.
* PhraseCatcher: Bordeaux typically looks to Taki to confirm what he and the other three have said with "Right, Chairman?"
* PragmaticVillainy: The Friendship Cup works like this, [[spoiler:the losers are sent to a lifetime of service in the underground dump]] and the winner becomes a "King" giving the commons hope and keeping the City stable. Meaning [[spoiler:with each Friendship Cup, they will gain lifetime workers to keep the City working and a king to keep peace in the city.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: The five of them hear out ''all'' sides of the party and reserve judgment on the Lancers, giving them the chance to prove their claims. They also seem to be genuinely interested in cooperation between Tops and Commons, even if only to keep the City peaceful.
* TheFourGods: Thematically based on them with there being five of them colored the same way as the Four Gods including the Yellow Dragon. However, while the Yellow Dragon is typically the fifth and central being in the Four God, here it's White Taki that is the leader of the Council.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Azul's the only woman among them.
* ThousandYardStare: Gray's odd eye design makes it seem like he has this.

[[quoteright:229:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/511f234643c850ea7301135a2cf25e9d.png]]

A reporter and duel commentator from the Synchro Dimension.
----
!!Tropes associated with Melissa Claire:
* BareYourMidriff: She wears a midriff-baring top that fits with her MsFanservice image.
* ButtMonkey: She is constantly shouted at while trying to introduce the Friendship Cup's duelists, and gets frustrated with some of what she's told to read.
* CombatCommentator: Takes the role of the MC from ''5D's'', and she replaces Nico Smiley, since the setting has changed.
* CompositeCharacter: Seems to be a combination of Carly Nagisa and the Master of Ceremonies, both being characters from ''5D's''.
* {{Cowgirl}}: Dresses in the style. May be a MythologyGag to the ''5D's'' Crashtown arc.
* GenkiGirl: She's pretty excitable while commenting.
* HiddenDepths: Some of her words suggest that she's more sympathetic to the Commons than a usual Tops resident.
* HotScoop: She is a reporter that runs a show that watches and comments on duels.
* LargeHam: Comes with being the CombatCommentator.
* MeaningfulName: Her initials are '''MC''', a [[ShoutOutThemeNaming direct reference]] to the MC from ''5D's''.
* NiceGirl: So far she has proven to be a reasonable person that does not judge other people based on class, in contrast with all other Tops characters up to this point. However, [[spoiler: she doesn't see a problem with what happens to the losers.]]
* MsFanservice: She's an attractive, big breasted woman that has a shirt exposing her midriff and wears short shorts. This is justified due to her job.
* NiceHat: A cowboy hat for her cowgirl outfit.
* TightsUnderShorts: More fanservice tropes.
* WideEyedIdealist: She seems to believe wholeheartedly in the Friendship Cup's message. [[spoiler:Episode 71 reveals that she knows [[MadeASlave the real fate of those that lose in the tornament]], yet she shrugs it of as something normal and cheerfully tells Yuya that he just has to win to avoid that fate. However, no one else, including the Commons see this as a problem.]]

[[folder:Gallager]]
!!Gallager
!!Voiced by: Yuto Nakano

Gallager is a man that calls himself a promoter for duelists.
----
!!Tropes associated with Gallager:
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Has dark skin and hair with white streaks, but doesn't have black features
* BaitTheDog: Seems to be like Nico at first. He isn't
* BerserkButton: Call him a liar about there being strong duelists that he promotes.
* CombatCommentator: Of the Underground Arena.
* CoolShades: Golden pimp-like ones.
* DirtyCoward: As soon as Security starts arresting everyone, he hightails it out of there, despite expressing interest in promoting Gongenzaka, Dennis and Kurosaki, and abandons them to their fates. [[spoiler: He works as a promoter and recycler, and willingly allows people to get arrested to keep his deal going with Roger.]]
* FaceFramedInShadow: While watching the duel between Gongenzaka and Dennis.
* {{Foil}}: He's one to Nico Smiley. Nico is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold originally portrayed as only being in it for the money, while he is a {{Jerkass}} that works with [[spoiler: Roger.]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: He has a good feeling about Dennis. Though it's mostly due to the Pendulum Summoning
* {{Jerkass}}: [[spoiler: He works with Roger, willingly betraying people to avoid getting arrested.]]
* LargeHam: While being a CombatCommentator, he's a little more composed otherwise.
* ManInWhite: He dresses entirely in white, giving him a pimp-like appearance
* MrExposition: He explains Sergey's origin to Gongenzaka and Chojiro. [[spoiler: And lets them know it is rumored that Roger is from another dimension.]]
* MulticoloredHair: Black with a white patch on each side.
* NotSoSmallRole: Downplayed, while he was PutOnTheBus since the Lancers were [[spoiler:captured]], because he was in the opening, many knew was going to be important. They were proven right when he returned in episode 73, [[spoiler:working with Roger]]
* PimpDuds: Complete with the sunglasses, multiple rings, and coat.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: When Security attacks the arena, he runs away.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: His eyes are a hazel-yellow, and he is a duel promoter for an Underground Arena.

[[folder:Shinji Weber]]
!!Shinji Weber
!!Voiced by: Creator/KaitoIshikawa
[[quoteright:168:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullshinjiweber.png]]

Shinji Weber is a resident of commons and he is a friend of Crow Hogan. Shinji hates Tops and speaks of Resistance. He uses a Bee Force Deck.
----
!!Tropes associated with Shinji:
* BadassBiker: He's a D-Wheeler as well.
* BeeAfraid: His Bee Force are all bees.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: His Bee Force are all Insect-type.
* BigDamnHeroes: Saves Yuya and the others alongside Crow.
* BlowYouAway: The Bee Force have a WIND attribute.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Shinji's deck, speech during his duel, and motivations may remind some of [[UsefulNotes/RedOctober Vladimir Lenin]] and the communist party of Russia.
* TheDogBitesBack: All the years of humiliation and denigration from the Tops culminated in Shinji using the Friendship Cup participant's immunity to proclaim his "The City is one" message and call the Commons to rebel.
* FriendToAllChildren: Brings Crow's kids candy and sweets. [[spoiler:Reira right out refuses to duel him because Shinji was nice to him too.]]
* HiddenDepths: His hatred and rage towards the Tops was shocking to see when at first, he seemed to be a laidback and calm guy. It was lampshaded by Yuya, who was shocked at this side of Shinji.
* IronicEcho: His "The City is one" line instead of meaning that both the Commons and Tops are the same like how Melissa uses, it instead states that the Commons are one group and have the power to overthrow the Tops.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Edging towards NiceGuy, he saves Yuya and the others, but doesn't like that they are still in the hideout when he brings snacks for the kids. He ends up being right about it, as it gets them arrested. It mostly goes away later, where he becomes nicer to Yuya and the others while Crow becomes more hostile. [[spoiler: later he turns into a {{Jerkass}}]]
* KickTheDog: Turns Tsukikage and insults his clan and brother, which is a serious offense in Japanese culture.
* LanternJawOfJustice: His chin is prominent.
* LaResistance: His comments in Episode 63 show that he wants to take down Tops. This is represented by his Bee Force Deck. In Episode 68, he manages to inspire anyone in the audience (The Commons) who resent those who belong in the Tops to rise against them. Whether or not this will result [[TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized in violent riots]] for the Synchro Dimension remains to be seen.
* LeeroyJenkins: His whole LaResistance shtick largely works because of his MagneticHero traits; all he pretty much does is insult the Tops and try and get the Commons to revolt, which isn't the best way to go about things since even if they had rioted, Security could have handled it, according to Roger.
* MagneticHero: He has shown a strong ability to gain allies in episode 68 when he got all the Commons in the Duel Palace on his side with a few words.
* MeaningfulName: Shinji Weber may be named after Max Weber, a German sociologist, philosopher, jurist, and political economist whose ideas profoundly influenced social theory and social research, reflecting Shinji's character as someone who wants to change the social system of the City.
* MultiColoredHair: Dark Purple and lighter blue.
* PowerOfFriendship: Shinji says that this is a Common's true power, the ability to have other Commons come to their help.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Crow's Red, being far more calm and logical about situations. Episode 68 inverts this: Crow is more passive in his resistance against the Tops, refusing to be a tool for their entertainment but he's forced to it; Shinji right out calls for the Commons to rise against the Tops.
* TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized: Wants Tops overthrown in violent revolution.
* StickyFingers: Benevolent example. The kids imply he has stolen snacks and foods for them before.
* TrueCompanions: He considers his friends this, and is upset when Tony loses.

[[folder:Chojiro Tokumatsu]]
!!Chojiro Tokumatsu
!!Voiced by: Shunsuke Sakuya
[[quoteright:152:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullchojirotokumatsu7.png]]

Chojiro Tokumatsu is the Boss, the top duelist of the prison the Lancers, along with Crow and Shinji are sent to. He has been so for 10 years.

He plays with a Cardian Deck, which mirrors hanafuda cards in terms of appearance and play style.
----
!!Tropes associated with Tokumatsu:
* HundredPercentAdorationRating: For the Commons. When he was arrested 10 years ago, they revolted and even with the new Duel Chasers, they could not stop them.
* ApologeticAttacker: [[spoiler:He starts off his duel with Yuzu apologizing a lot, because he doesn't want to lose but knows what will happen if she does.]]
* {{Badass}}: Old, yet keeps up with the speedy Lancers. Furthermore, he manages to summon a [[spoiler:Synchro Monster with '''5000 base-ATK''', overthrowning Jack's "Majestic Red Dragon", Harald's "Odin, Father of the Aesir", Antinomy's "T.G. Halberd Cannon" and Yusei's "Shooting Quasar Dragon" with their 4000 ATK]].
* BadassBiker: [[spoiler:Riding Duels in the Friendship Cup. And save Tsukikage, has pulled off the craziest stunts, which is saying a lot considering his age.]]
* BadassGrandpa: He's quite fit and agile for his age.
* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: As Enjoy Chojiro, he was focused on enjoying the duel no matter if he was winning or losing and tried to change the class divide with the idea that in a duel everyone is equal. When he dueled the Top duelists, due to their superior cards, he was beaten, booed and mocked. He grew to hate any form of cheering and instead focused on being the top. Thanks to Yuya, this trope becomes subverted.
* BornLucky: As Enjoy Chojiro, he was stated to have a lucky draw that allowed to turn the tables at the right time.
* CardsOfPower: While this seems kind of obvious in this franchise, Chojiro's Cardian archetype takes it up a notch, being based on ''hanafuda'' cards and more specifically the ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koi-Koi Koi-Koi]]'' game, the regular monsters being based on the cards themselves and the Synchro monsters on the game's card suits.
* CharacterDevelopment: When the audience first sees him, Tokumatsu is portrayed as a serious, no-nonsense character with a troubled past. Once more episodes go by and his original personality shines through, Tokumatsu is essentially as goofy and understanding as Gongenzaka.
* CharacterTic: When he draws due to his Cardian cards, he tends to repeat Koi.
* CheatersNeverProsper: He ended up in prison after cheating. A sympathetic example, in that he did so with good intentions but was unable to win by playing fair due to the [[PowerEqualsRarity money/power advantage]] the Tops had.
* CoolOldGuy: After [[TookALevelInKindness Taking A Level In Kindness]].
* DarkIsNotEvil: He's a jerk (at first), but he's not evil, and the Cardians are DARK-Attribute.
* DeathOrGloryAttack: His Cardians cards work like this. They need the supporting spell cards that let them be special summoned en mass to set up their very powerful Synchro monsters. But the Spells force Tokumatsu to draw them from his deck and they have a large payback that if it wasn't for Tokumatsu's luck, would kill him.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: He is brought to, or rather [[NotSoDifferent back]] Yuya's viewpoint.
* {{Expy}}: Of Jin Himuro/Bolt Tanner from ''5D's'', the boss of the prisoners whom Yusei befriended. His own philosophy as Enjoy Chojiro is similar to Yuma's.
* FamedInStory: In the Synchro Dimension, he was a very skilled duelist and was loved by the Commons. Even holding dueling classes for the children, that Crow admits he went to. Even 10 years later, Crow, Shinji and most of the prisoners still remember and love him.
* TheFatalist: As a result of his total defeat to the Top Duelists, he hated relying on chance.
* FlungClothing: Tosses off his Riding suit to reveal that kimono of his underneath.
* FriendToAllChildren: It was shown he was very kind to children before he was sent to jail.
* GracefulLoser: He gave a large smile when he lost to Yuya as he returned to being Enjoy Chojiro. [[spoiler:And again when he lost to Yuzu in Episode 69.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: Subverted; he tries, but his lackies make a better distraction by throwing all the cards he had collected to the guards.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: He takes up this stance whenever he's about to draw a card. [[MundaneMadeAwesome He draws his cards with so much force it makes a gust of wind]].
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Yuya. Tokumatsu is old enough to have taught Crow, but he strongly looks up to Yuya due to Yuya returning him to his old personality.
* LargeHam: As Enjoy Chojiro.
* LastNameBasis: Usually referred by his last name, but his titles include his first name.
* LuxuryPrisonSuite: He gets fine food and accommodations due to being the Boss.
* KimonoIsTraditional: He dresses like an old Japanese samurai with his kimono and theme with his room at the prison.
* MadeASlave: [[spoiler: Like all Friendship Cup losers.]]
* {{Metaphorgotten}}: Tries to make a few puns to Yuya after breaking out of his room, but doesn't quite manage it. Yuya suggests that he give up.
* MrExposition: Due to his age, Tokumatsu [[spoiler:was able to explain what happens to Yuya when they lose in the Friendship Cup.]]
* NiceGuy: After meeting Yuya, he regains his old personality and is kind once again.
* NotSoDifferent: To Yuya. Crow and Shinji reveal before he was in jail he was well loved by children in Commons and wanted for them to be happy.
* OnlySaneMan: For the entire dimension, [[spoiler:he seems to be the only one that finds the idea of a lifetime of forced labour due to losing wrong.]]
* PaperMaster: His Cardian Deck.
* PermaStubble: Not a lot of shaving in the prison.
* PerpetualFrowner: After ending up in prison, he stopped smiling. After dueling Yuya, this is no longer the case.
* RedBaron: Chojiro of the Autumn Rain, formerly Enjoy Chojiro.
* ThatManIsDead: Says this about his old nickname, Enjoy Chojiro.
* TookALevelInCynic: In his backstory, when his failed attempt to change the system ended in him getting him jailed for cheating.
* TookALevelInKindness: During his duel with Yuya, he returns to being Enjoy Chojiro again.
* WhenHeSmiles: His smile is nice when he starts again. Everyone likes it when he does.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: His last name and his skin color suggest he is Hispanic.

* NiceGuy: He apologizes to Yuya for the way Crow was acting.
* PrideBeforeAFall: In his duel against Sergey, he is noticeably arrogant, saying the duel is easy and that Sergey lost his edge. [[spoiler:In the end, he was laying flat on the floor, knocked unconscious and his bike was smoking]]
* RememberTheNewGuy: When Yuya and co. meet him inside the facility it's clear that he and Crow are friends but how they came to know each other otherwise and how he ended up in prison are never revealed.
* TheReptilians: The Aliens are reptiles.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has purple hair.

[[folder: Sam]]
!!Sam
!!Voiced by: Asaki Takase

Sam is a young boy employed by Security and the Executive Council, serving as an attendant to Yuya before his duel with Jack. His only known card is Tuning Magician.
----
!!Tropes assocated with Sam:
* BrokenPedestal: He was a fan of Jack until he insulted Sam's dreams and gave him a weak card, saying it suited him. [[spoiler:Though that's what Sam believes; Jack gave him that card because it's the same card Jack himself found as a child that started him on his road to becoming Duel King.]]
* GenreBlind: See the hidden part of BrokenPedestal.
* NervousWreck: He's terrified of everything.
* NiceHat: A bellhop hat.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He's a minor character that convinces Yuya he should take down Jack, and gives him Tuning Magician, which will presumably lead to Yuya's Synchro Monsters.

[[folder:Sergey Volkov]]
!!Sergey Volkov

A mysterious figure that works for Roger, and stands behind him in shadow. Sergey was a prisoner recruited from the Underground, known as the Duelist Crusher. Roger did something to him. He uses a Thorn Prisoner deck.
----
!!Tropes assoiciated with Sergey:
* AbsoluteCleavage: A RareMaleExample. His riding outfit is exposing a lot of chest.
* {{Badass}}: He beat 50 duelists single-handed.
* BadassBiker: And the bike brings Bommer's to mind.
* BoxedCrook: He was in the recycling center until Gallager sent him to Roger.
* {{Brainwashed}}: He was also crazy, but Roger [[NothingIsScarier did something]].
* ChessMotifs: He's a knight for Roger.
* CoolBike: His Duel Runner is ''huge''.
* TheDragon: Can also be TheBrute, but Sergey seems to be this for Roger.
* TheDreaded: He was a criminal wanted Dead or Alive, and the Tops are afraid of him.
* FaceFramedInShadow: His silhouette with a glowing red eye was, at first, all that was seen of him.
* GiantMook: He's enormous.
* MeaningfulName: Etymologically, Sergey's full name translates to "Protector of the Wolves." Given his connection to Jean-Michel Roger, his name references a Russian chess player of the same name.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Nearly everything about him is horrifying. From his past as the Duelist Crusher, what happened to him, his anatomy and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking he hasn't said a word yet.]] Worse still, is monsters are horrifying fiends being tortured.
