* NotSoStoic: Even he can't help but chuckle when Sundown suggests that he and Jack can get their "Satisfaction" going on.

* NotSoStoic: When Kiryu laughs a bullet to the chest, he panickly tells Akira to teleport them out of there.

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: It's implied he defeated Akiza in a duel back in chapter 19. When the two duel in the Fortune Cup, Akiza confirms that Akira wiped the floor with her.

** Tea: Lei and Oboro, hailing from Asia, take upon this trope. Lei drinks it in memory of her shifu whereas Oboro is a stoic, tranquil ninja.

* MassOhCrap: They all have this reaction when Pogo hugs Yusei...and exposes his Heart Mark to the Dark Signers since they had no idea of a sixth mark.

* BeneathSuspicion: Due to him being a caveman flung into the far future, this means the Dark Signers never bother to see him as dangerous. This turns out to be a blessing in disguise for the heroes, for he has the Heart Mark and both Goodwin brothers only assume there's only five marks.

* UnskilledButStrong: Doesn't have any other strategy except slamming it with his club, but being a caveman means that's all he needs to knock an opponent down.

* HopelessWithTech: Justified since she's from a time period before phones were even conceived, but she fumbles around with the smartphone Misty gives her.

** Finally, [[spoiler:seeing the Fortune Cup's audience boo and falsely accuse him of cheating just cause he ends the duel early and whomps Jack has him unleash Judgment Day on the masses, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero dooming their world to the Dark Signers]].]]

* AdaptationalSympathy: {{Inverted|Trope}}. Whereas Yusei tried to reach out to Akiza in canon, and Lei sympathizes with her in the fanfic, Akira [[spoiler:and Kira]] show no pity for her because she's still responsible for the events that pushes people away.

* {{Sadist}}: She ''loves'' playing with her opponents, slamming Akira to the ground with Rose Tentacles and seeks pleasure in making people suffer. This gets deconstructed as she's so focused on the pain that she doesn't pay attention to the duel, making costly errors that make her lose.

Lei is a martial-artist who uses Harpies that fly, whereas Akiza is a Psychic and has a witch-like motif and her monsters are plants that grow in the soil.

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: No one will ever let her forget that her stupid decision to kill herself ''before'' letting Oersted explain himself is the reason why Lucrece is destroyed.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When he lets his anger get the best of him, he looks in horror at what he caused.

* CreepyChild: What was once a KidHero is now an UndeadChild. Subverted in that he only acts like this in trance and doesn't seem to realize he ''is'' dead.

* AdaptationalRomanceDowngrade: Unlike canon's...handling of her relationship with Jack, here she doesn't know him at all.

** Lei: Lei was previously a bandit but turned a leaf after the shifu saved her. Jack stole Yusei's dreams (and later his life) for himself. Lei lost everyone she cared of but learned to move forward, Jack lost Yusei (unknowingly) and didn't care to look back. Lei is mentioned to care for the orphans under Martha's tutelage while Jack imagined that his past was all a dream.

** Akira: Both of them are cocky, hot shots who currently use a Fire themed monster as their ace (Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio for Akira, Red Archfiend Dragon for Jack) and grew up in an orphanage. But Akira was able to keep his morals thanks to Lawless, whereas Jack could care less about others if it meant getting what he wanted. Jack was chosen to do great things by Goodwin due to him having the Wings mark, but it's ''Akira'' who steps up as the true hero by the Crimson Dragon who has Jack's old mark. Akira also worries about the safety of everyone at Bright Sparks Orphanage, particularly his little sister and Taeko, whereas Jack hasn't show ''any'' concern for Martha ever since leaving for Neo-Domino. Akira treats Rally like a little brother whereas Jack was quick to throw the boy into a boat just to get his ticket out.

* HatedByAll: The one who did this to Oersted gets that turned on him after the spirits find out. Unfortunately for them, once he becomes the new Lord of Dark, he is able to turn his kingdom into his puppets with their hatred.

In his duel against Jack, he doesn't even bother to have Jack Synchro Summon his monster, as he discards Dimensional Shifter -- which sends any card to the graveyard to be banished until Jack's turn -- to ensure Jack can't revive Twin-Swords Marauder.
* FatalFlaw: His philosophy of "people need to save themselves" is also his biggest flaw. He puts a lot of pressure on himself to be the one making sure everything is on track in regards to Dark Signers that he pushes himself to his limit and doesn't know when to take a break and let the others carry the load.

* AscendedExtra: Only appeared for one duel against Luna then vanished. He has a more supporting role trying to get Leo and Luna's powers to manifest.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: Was presumably comatose after his duel with Luna, but Akira helps him wake up from the trance he was in.

* ApocalypseMaiden: [[spoiler:The Dark Signers' plan hinged on Akira pushed to his limit, allowing them to enact Hell on their Earth.]]

* BigBadWannabe: He made a deal with Odio to get revenge, but he's overall pathetic when put into a real fight, resulting in an early defeat when he first invades Neo-Domino. And the vengeful spirits of the Magi and Psychic who died in the Witch Hunts he indirectly incited are shielding others from his wrath even in death, meaning that he can't invade his Earth.

* MonsAsCharacterisation: Lei is a deadly lady who was the FragileSpeedster of the disciples, like Harpies are known to be beautiful but deadly and their strategy was to ZergRush the field.

* FriendlyGhost: He's kind and courteous towards Cube and the others.

* ApocalypseMaiden: [[spoiler:The Dark Signers' plan hinged on Akira pushed to his limit, allowing them to enact Hell on Earth.]]

** Finally, [[spoiler:seeing the audience boo him just cause he ends the duel early and whomps Jack has him unleash Judgment Day on the masses.]]

* AllForNothing: The machinations he made to frame Oersted ended up destroying everything he wanted and Oersted redeemed himself at the very end.
* BigBadWannabe: He made a deal with Odio to get revenge, but he's overall pathetic when put into a real fight, resulting in an early defeat when he first invades Neo-Domino.

* AnimalMotifs: The lion has been synonymous with Akira. Three of his Ritual Beast monsters are modeled after lions -- Spiritual Beast Apelio, Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio, and Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio -- which relate to his ferocity and willingness to protect his loved ones. They're also depicted as the King of the Jungle, and his main goal is to topple Jack Atlas, the Riding ''King''. Last, lions are symbols of the sun, which fits Akira being associated with light and the Crimson Dragon, a flaming dragon. And let's not get started about his spiky mane of AnimeHair...

* GeniusBruiser: He's gotten into numerous street fights before the Odio situation, and he's also intelligent enough to think of plans on the fly and is the main duelist of the Seven.

** To Akira. Again, they're both psychics but Divine manipulates others to believe in his praise of an uprising, while Akira lives by his own rules. Both of them wear green, but Divine dresses in a classy waistcoat and Akira decides to dress in spikes, studs, and a jacket with no shirt. Both use Psychic-type archetypes, but Divine's is a ''full'' Psychic deck that relates to how he isollates potential students to his cult, while Akira has a combination of Psychic and other types, equating to how he works with others.

** Akira: Both of them are cocky, hot shots who currently use a Fire themed monster as their ace (Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio for Akira, Red Archfiend Dragon for Jack) and grew up in an orphanage. But Akira was able to keep his morals thanks to Lawless, whereas Jack could care less about others if it meant getting what he wanted. ** Cube: A robot who learned to understand humanity and compassion to others, something Jack sorely lacks.
** Oersted: Both of them are blond haired warriors whose actions that led to tragedies, but Oersted's was a complete misunderstanding caused by Streibough wanting to ruin him, whereas Yusei was nothing but loving and kind to his brother before Jack screwed everything up for glory. Oersted even compares Jack demanding Rally, Nervin, Tank, and Blitz free to how he unleashed the killing blow on Odio but while Oersted's was shown in a positive light as him breaking free of the hatred that imprisoned him, Jack's act is a complete slap in the face due to this coming after everything else he caused. Oersted was labeled as the Demon Lord while Jack is seen as the Riding King.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Disgusts how Rally, Nervin, Blitz, and Tank are being held for ransom for Akira to enter the Fortune Cup yet he didn't give two fucks about making Rally a pawn to make Yusei swim out to the water so he can steal his stuff and leave for Neo-Domino.
