* ButtMonkey: In Wrestling/DragonGate. Not to the extent of Raimu Mishima or Akira Tozawa's early days, but he spent a good portion of his career trying to convince people to team with him or let him join their stables, only for them to turn on him at the last second.
* CanonImmigrant: Went to Toryumon after Kitao Dojo closed.
* DummiedOut: He was a Kitao Dojo trainee, but he never wrestled for the promotion and made his debut at a Capture International show.
* TheDogBitesBack: In Wrestling/DragonGate he spent enough time being slapped around and mistreated that he eventually snapped, changed his name to Chocoflake K-ICHI and joined M2K.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: His final Toryumon appearance was a squash loss in 0:49 to CIMA.
* HiddenDepths: He works in the food industry now since retiring from wrestling and owns several restaurants and pubs. He actually had a restaurant before wrestling but closed it after the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995.
* IKnowKarate: Another Shidokan UsefulNotes/Karate trainee.
* NonIndicativeName: His ring name in Toryumon, Chocoball KOBE was likely inspired from Chocoball Mukai, but he didn't sport the same gimmick (or any in particular).
* RedBaron: "Brown Scalawag".
* SixthRangerTraitor: Was TARU's assistant in Crazy MAX for a months until he betrayed them and turned face. Not very surprising, as KOBE was part of the Kitao Dojo team which was squashed by Crazy MAX when they recruited TARU.

-->"It looks like there will be cooperation between the new Kitao promotion which opens 1/21 and WAR. Koji Kitao, who heads the group, used to wrestle for SWS, which preceded WAR, before being fired after a non-match with Earthquake John Tenta which nearly got totally out of hand and resulted in Kitao grabbing the house mic and telling everyone that pro wrestling was fake. Koki Kitahara of WAR will oppose Kitao in the first main event. Supposedly Kitao's group will work a shoot-style. The plan seems to be to build up for a Tenryu vs. Kitao match in June at Budokan Hall. Kitao's last pro wrestling match, in 1992, was against Nobuhiko Takada at Budokan Hall and sold out weeks in advance doing a monster gate. WAR wrestler Ishinriki will wrestle Michigan indie Al Snow in the semifinal on the first Kitao show. Pete Tazello (Tazmaniac), James Magnum (Minneapolis) and J.R. Carson (Minneapolis) will work against rookies from the Kitao dojo and Rico Fredrico vs. Wellington Wilkens Jr. opens the show."

!!!Yoshikazu Taru
* TheApprentice: To Wrestling/KojiKitao.
* AscendedFanboy: Was a fan of Wrestling/HiroyoshiTenzan, and his visual style sometimes reflects it.
* AxCrazy: Has (kayfabe) attacked fans and ring crew ForTheEvulz.
** Got fired from Wrestling/AllJapanProWrestling for real when he reportedly lost his temper on another wrestler named Nobukazu Hirai and beat him in backstage. Hirai subsequently suffered a severe stroke. He has recovered, however, and TARU has made amends with him.
* BatterUp: His reliable baseball bat, decorated with the Crazy MAX's "Flower of Evil" logo. After leaving Dragon Gate, he replaced it with a simple lead pipe, perhaps symbolizing his bygone era or something.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Became a Crazy MAX member after they helped him in a match featuring Kitao Dojo trainees. He had already teamed up once with the gang in Mexico, so they probably clicked then.
* BrilliantButLazy: Usually wrestles in a slow, even lazy brawling style, mostly based in cheapshots and illegal attacks. However, if the occasion requires it, he can be a skilled shoot-style and power wrestler.
** Quite literally, as he said in an interview that the first time he went to Mexico, he spent more time with local females than training, which made Wrestling/UltimoDragon scold him.
* CanonImmigrant: Another Kitao Dojo trainee that went to Wrestling/DragonGate.
* TheCasanova: According to interviews with other wrestlers from his time in México, he was often more interested in picking up girls than in training.
* GroinAttack: One of C-Max's trademark moves was for two of the other members to stand an opponent on his head and pull his legs apart into a Y, and then TARU would axe kick him in the groin.
* TheFace: During his time in Crazy MAX, he served as their manager and mouthpiece.
* Heel: Actually has it printed on his shirt.
* IKnowKarate: Trained in Shidokan UsefulNotes/Karate under Koji Kitao.
* LightningBruiser: His moveset contains moonsaults and diving leg drops along with power moves and karate kicks.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: When not wrestling he generally wears tailored suits.
* OnlyOneName: In Wrestling/DragonGate as TARU.
* RealMenWearPink: Despite his nasty character and personality, he is famously a fan of girly J-pop bands and female idols like Morning Musume, Q.T.Honey (not, not that one) and Misato Watanabe.
* SpinningPiledriver: His finisher, the TARU Driller. He inherited it from Kitao, who used it as the Kitao Driller.
* StartMyOwn: He founded the short-lived Ring Soul promotion, which actually was more of a El Dorado spin-off.
* TheUnfavorite: To the bookers of Wrestling/DragonGate, apparently. Of the four core Crazy MAX guys, CIMA and SUWA were the ones who contended for the UDG title, and Fuji formed a trios team with them, but TARU mostly teamed with whatever newcomer C-Max was trying to add to the stable (most notably JUN) and subbed into the trios team when one of the other three was injured or wrestling elsewhere.

* CanonImmigrant: Came to Wrestling/DragonGate after Kitao Dojo closed.
* IKnowKarate: A Shidokan UsefulNotes/Karate trainee.
* NamesTheSame: In-universe. He sometimes gets laughed at for sharing name with Takashi Okamura from the popular Manzai duo Ninety-nine.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Mostly.
* RedBaron: Apparently, he got "Devilman" as a nickname while training in the Kitao Dojo, and nowadays is often called "Devilman President". He even used to sport his hair like the manga's protagonist as a ShoutOut.
* Yakuza: He has some of their mannerisms when he's suited up and conducting business. This is likely a subtle reference to his martial background, as Shidokan has a reputation to be the yakuza's favourite martial arts gym franchise in Japan.

!!As a whole
* FusionDance: At the end of its short life, its dojo merged into Wrestling/UltimoDragon's Toryumon Gym.
* IKnowKarate: It was originally a Shidokan UsefulNotes/Karate dojo and also used their logo to mark it as an affiliate.
* SpinOff: It was sort of a offshoot brand of Wrestling Association R as they mostly featured other WAR wrestlers.
* SpiritualSuccessor: Sort of has one in Capture International, another sort of shoot style offshoot of WAR run by former Super Tiger Gym instructor, WAR and Kitao Dojo alumni Koki Kitahara.

!!!Masaaki Mochizuki
* TheApprentice: To Wrestling/KojiKitao.
* TheArtifact: His wrestling style can be considered such, not only because shoot-style was hugely popular back when Mochizuki became a pro wrestler yet is pretty much forgotten today, but also because Masaaki's usage of it came from being a member of a shoot-style themed stable that disappeared from Toryumon in less of a year. Over the years, he adopted a more lucharesu-inspired approach to fit with the rest of the promotion, but he still stands out for his stiff kicks and holds.
* AscendedFanboy: Was a Wrestling/NobuhikoTakada fanboy, and his moveset and its moves' names are based in Takada.
* BadassGrandpa: He's the oldest guy in Wrestling/DragonGate.
* BattleStrip: Over the years, he has been reducing his attire. He started wrestling in a sleeveless karategi, later changed it to just long pants and finally adopted regular tights. Since siding with BxB Hulk though he went back to long pants.
* CanonImmigrant: Came to Toryumon as a freelancer before becoming a permanent member.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Wore karate footguards during his gi times, though he later adopted boots.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: His Twister finishing move is a spinning brainbuster. He also created an inverted brainbuster version as a counter to YAMATO's Gallaria, and has also used a spinning Falcon Arrow called the Twister II.
* ExtremityExtremist: His offense consists primarily (though not at all exclusively) of karate-style kicks.
* GrumpyOldMan: Especially when facing the younger talent.
* HurricaneKick: One of his signature moves, the Illusion, sees him throwing a roundhouse kick and transitioning it into a reverse roundhouse kick with the other leg if the opponent dodges the first.
* IdenticalStranger: He and former Wrestling/ProWrestlingNoah wrestler Makoto Hashi could believably pretend to be brothers. The two had fun with it for promotional purposes after acknowledging it, and even teamed up in special occasions as a SimilarSquad before Hashi retired from pro wrestling.
* IKnowKarate: Trained in Shidokan UsefulNotes/Karate and one of the first trainees of Kitao Dojo.
* RedBaron: "Ontai" ("Boss"), "Saikyo" ("The Strongest", taken from Takada), "Tetsujin" ("The Iron Man"), "Tamashi no Shugeki O" ("The Spiritual King of Kicking", officially translated as "Soul of the King of the Kicker").
* RoundhouseKick: The Saikyo (left leg) and Shin Saikyo (right leg) High Kicks are among his most favored moves. As a karate-based striker he'll also throw side roundhouses, and there's also the Illusion mentioned above.
* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: He was the first shoot-style wrestler in Toryumon, and technically the only one today, not counting the MMA influenced but otherwise lucharesu trained YAMATO.
* StartMyOwn: He has a personal brand of events, Mochizuki Buyuden ("Mochizuki's Martial Story"), where he used to host matches with other shoot-stylists and wrestlers from other promotions.
