* HeroWithBadPublicity: At least as far as the vampires are concerned; she's renowned as one of the finest, if not the finest, Death Dealers ever for 600+ years of defending the Coven and destroying Lycans without relenting. Then she falls in love with Michael, a human-turned-Lycan, and kills Viktor and Marcus, two out of the three reigning Elders, and not only is she now shunned by her own kind, they also want her dead. [[spoiler: She finally manages to regain their respect at the end of ''Blood Wars''.]]

* {{Immortal Hero}}ine: As a vampire, she can be killed, until she drinks Alexander Corvinus's blood and becomes a proper immortal.
* {{Invincible Hero}}ine: She almost never takes any real damage when compared to other characters, up to and including ''Michael'' who is supposed to be the ultimate fusion of the two species and was briefly killed before resurrecting, and ''Alexander Corvinus'', from whom she gets upgraded to the point that Michael's hybrid state may as well have been a child's toy compared to Selene's power being equivalent to creating Superman in a lab. She's virtually unstoppable to begin with just in the first film. It just snowballs on from there, as she's pretty much a God by the time of ''Awakening''.

* LikeASonToMe: GenderFlip to Viktor for most of her existence as a vampire, until the events of the first movie.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: In ''Blood Wars'', she gains white streaks in her hair after getting a power upgrade via [[spoiler: the Nordic Coven's cocooning ritual]].
* MamaBear: [[spoiler:Though she was surprised to learn she had a daughter, she unsurprisingly becomes very protective of her.]]
* MeaningfulName: Selene means "moon". Fitting for someone who primarily fights in the night and avoids sunlight. In Greek myth, the goddess Selene also falls in love with a mortal man, who in some versions is granted eternal life at her request, which parallels Selene the vampire developing feelings for the initially human Michael and subsequently making him a hybrid.

* MundaneMacGuffinPerson: Her family was targeted by Viktor out of fear the Lycans will learn the location of William's prison since her father was involved in the construction. But Viktor spared her because she reminded him of his daughter.

** ..and then, just as she's getting better, Maurius taunts her once she learns that [[spoiler: Michael is, indeed, [[KilledOffForReal dead]] by his hand]] and holds out a vial a blood to her, saying it's all that's left of him, going so far as to yank it away when she reaches for it and [[KickTheDog drink it down right in front of her]]. Needless to say, her resulting HeroicBSOD, while brief, is very justified.

* RagsToRiches: [[spoiler: Actually, it's from Riches, to Rags, then back to Riches. She goes from being a respected Death Dealer, to a vampire fugitive, then is crowned one of the new Elders. Of course, she lampshades this.]]

* StrongAndSkilled: She's got superhuman strength due to being a vampire and has centuries of fighting experience in a variety of martial arts.
* SuperStrength: She had vampire strength in the first two films, but when she [[spoiler: drank Alexander Corvinus's blood and became a Corvinus strain immortal vampire, her strength went up higher than before. Notably, she ''shoulder-checks a van'' in the third film with enough force to flip it.]]
* SuperpowerLottery: [[spoiler: Thanks to drinking Alexander Corvinus's blood,]] not only she has much higher inherent vampire powers, but she can endure sunlight and by ''Awakening'', [[spoiler: she can pour re-start hearts after cutting open her palm and then re-starting the heart]]. This is taken further in ''Blood Wars'', where, due to her MidSeasonUpgrade [[spoiler: by being cocooned by the Nordic Coven]], she develops a FlashStep.

A descendant of Alexander Corvinus, Michael is an ordinary nurse until he becomes the target for the Lycans to create the first vampire/Lycan hybrid. He is turned into a Lycan by Lucian and later is bitten by Selene to heal him from gunshot wounds. This makes him a hybrid, and one of the series's many badasses. He becomes Selene's boyfriend and is currently one of two people to still be alive in the series, the other being Selene.

* DemotedToExtra: He definitely is this in ''Awakening'', seeing as he is practically non-existent in the film aside from one flashback and a single scene where he's shown encased in ice. But one can make the argument that this is also true in ''Evolution'' as well, as he's taken out of focus for the better part of the middle-to-latter half of the movie, when he finally pops up again to raise some hell. Though, to be fair, he was technically dead for a good part of that.

* LegoGenetics: Michael is the only descendant of Alexander Corvinus who has the same blood type as his, allowing Lucian and Selene to turn him into a vampire/Lycan hybrid.

* SingleSpecimenSpecies: ''Technically'' the first hybrid ever in the millennium-plus existence of vampires and Lycans (the unborn child of Lucian and Sonja would have been one) until Marcus also turns into a hybrid... then Marcus dies, leaving Michael the only hybrid in existence. If you want to get technical, this also applied when Marcus was still alive, as Michael is a Lycan hybrid, while Marcus was a Vampire hybrid. Whichever way you look at it, Michael is the first and only of his kind. He's not the only hybrid around anymore as of Awakening, but he is the only one of his type of hybrid.

* WalkingShirtlessScene: Basically whenever he turns into his Lycan and later hybrid forms, as he rips his shirts to do that ([[MagicPants but not his pants]]). It's particularly notable in ''Evolution'', where he spends 90% of his screen time shirtless.

The first Lycan born with [[OurWerewolvesAreDifferent the ability to turn back into a human]]. Lucian falls in love with Sonja, a vampire, and they become StarCrossedLovers. When Viktor finds out, he has his daughter executed via sunlight, kicking off the war between vampires and Lycans. Lucian fakes his death with help from Kraven and spends the next few centuries trying to find a descendant of Alexander Corvinus who has the right blood to create the first HybridMonster. He succeeds in turning Michael into one with help from Selene but is gunned down by Kraven.

* BigBadEnsemble: He leads the Lycans opposite of Viktor leading the vampires.

* DiscOneFinalBoss: For the first movie. At first, it seems like he's the instigator of the war, out to exterminate all vampires. As it turns out, [[spoiler: he's only after Viktor, who killed his wife and made the war genocidal]].

* EvilBrit: At first seemed to be, until it turned out he was a good person. Well, [[AntiHero mostly]].

* GoodAllAlong: Downplayed. [[spoiler: As the first film drags on, it becomes more and more clear that Lucian isn't some dangerous psychotic killer as the Coven would have the viewer believe and is doing what he does to stop the [[EvilerThanThou much more evil vampires and protect his people]]. In ''Rise of the Lycans'' it's much more overt that Lucian is supposed to be the hero of the story. He spends the film fighting vampires and freeing slaves, then giving the slaves the choice to either get away from all this craziness or become Lycans themselves and join the fight.]]

* HeartbrokenBadass: Due to the death of his lover, Sonja, and their unborn child.

* MeaningfulName: Lucian meaning "light". also fitting to tie to Lucifer, as Victors favorite servent who eventually rebelled against him

* SatanicArchetype: viewed as this by the vampire covens due to being a servant who rebelled against them, also has a name meaning light for their daylight guard, resembling Satans tie to light as the angel Lucifer who rebelled against God. Subverted as it turns out Viktor instigated the conflict by executing his own daughter when she was discovered to be pregnant with Lucians hybrid child, as well as enslaving the lycans in the first place, giving them good reason to rebel.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Lucian has killed generations of Alexander's descendants to find one whose blood can mix both Lycan and vampire blood, in order to avenge his dead lover and unborn child. Also, it must be stressed, to prevent the vampires from ''wiping out his species''.
* WonderfulWerewolf: Downplayed in the other films but played straight in the prequel ''Rise of the Lycans'' where he is the heroic protagonist. He was the one who lead the lycan uprising against the vampires that enslaved them. He only become cold and ruthless due to the death of his vampire love Sonja and their unborn child at the hands of Viktor, and although his methods become more extreme, his goal remains very easy to sympathize with, he just wants to keep the vampires from exterminating his people.

The BigBad of ''Underworld'' and ''Rise of the Lycans''. Viktor is one of the three Vampire Elders and the foster father of Selene. Having FantasticRacism against Lycans, Viktor went to great lengths to either control or kill them including killing his own daughter Sonja when she became impregnated with a vampire/Lycan hybrid.

* BullyingADragon: Is responsible for the creation of his own kinds worst enemy by creating the lycans, enslaving them, and treating them like dirt until they couldn't stand it any longer. In particular, executing his own daughter Sonja by exposing her to daylight in front of Lucian (while she's pregnant with Lucian's child, nonetheless) is what ultimately drove Lucian to lead the lycans to rebel against the vampires, leading to a centuries long war.

* TheDreaded: Is this to the Lycans and the enemies of Viktor's coven. Viktor is the Vampire Elder who hates the Lycans the most (Marcus is fairly ambivalent, as he only cares about freeing William, while Amelia only fights the Lycans out obligation) and was responsible for their enslavement. When he arrives at the Lycan headquarters, Lucien and Kraven have an OhCrap moment.
* DualWielding: After losing his sword he whips out a pair of hidden daggers from his sleeves. Subverted as he never gets to use them.
* EvilOverlord: Ruler of the vampires. He'll enforce the letter of the law obsessively, but only to ensure he stays on top, and to the extent that he'll even kill those he once loved if they challenge his power in any way.
* FantasticRacism: Viktor despises the Lycans, and considers a hybrid to be an abomination, though the latter has more to do with his fear that they could one day overthrow him.

* GreaterScopeVillain: As the Elder of the vampires and the one who set off their war with the Lycans, he's this for most films in the series, or at least the ones that don't have him as the direct BigBad (the exception being ''Evolution'').

-->'''Marcus:''' I knew Viktor made a mistake by keeping you as a pet. He should have killed you with the rest of your family.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Would not approve of Amelia, a fellow elder, having a child [[spoiler: David]], fearing that it would disrupt the balance of power between the elders, despite having a daughter of his own many centuries ago.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Subverted. Viktor may claim he was doing what was best for the coven, but every last one of his actions (deceiving Marcus, imprisoning William, killing Sonja, murdering Selene's family, turning Selene into a vampire, etc.) directly or indirectly leads to the vampires being all but wiped out by the fourth movie.

* IdiotBall: He pretty much ran with this one (see above), but punching Singe to death and not having his bleeding body immediately removed will forever be a classic due to [[spoiler: his blood dripping into Marcus' tomb and inadvertently turning him into a hybrid]].

* ItsAllAboutMe: At the end of the day, Viktor only cares about himself and the advancement of his own power. Everything else, including the laws of the coven, his daughter, and his surrogate daughter, are all secondary to that.

* LongLived: One of the older (if not quite the eldest) vampires, and also one of the strongest.
* ManipulativeBastard: Viktor managed to fool all the vampires into thinking that ''he'' is the first vampire in existence, imprisoned William for all time and went to extra lengths to ensure Marcus couldn't stop him -- which failed ''spectacularly''. Not to mention making Selene think her family was killed by Lycans for 600+ years.
* MonsterProgenitor: Subverted. Marcus was, in fact, the first Vampire, but Viktor rewrote history to make him appear as the progenitor of the species, a secret he fiercely guarded for over half a millennium.
* NeverMyFault: He has his own daughter put to death, then has the nerve to blame Lucian for it. He also murdered Selene's family except for Selene herself and let her spend the next six centuries thinking that it was the work of the Lycans. Selene rightfully calls him out on both of these once the truth is revealed to her.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Two instances- killing Sonja was what started the war in the first place. Not believing Selene results in his worst fear being recognized in the form of a hybridized Michael Corvin ''and'' his death.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: In his view, everything he did was to protect the species and the coven. It really doesn't hold water, given his cruelty, his prejudice against werewolves, and his ultimately leading the coven to their doom.

* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: He helped make the law that vampires can't feed on humans, but he [[{{Hypocrite}} himself regularly broke the law and gorged on human blood]], Selene's human family being among his victims. Either subverted or a convenient coincidence, since Selene's father was the only one besides Viktor himself who knew about William's prison.

** Marcus comes to Viktor while the latter is on his deathbed and grants him immortality. How does Viktor repay him? By wresting control of the coven away from Marcus, indefinitely imprisoning Marcus's brother, and having the vampires' history rewritten so that Viktor, not Marcus, is the first and most powerful of the vampires.
** Lucian transforms into Lycan form to save Sonja from becoming werewolf kibble. Viktor's response to this is to have him publicly flogged to near-death for removing the slave collar that would have prevented said transformation. Mind you, he gave Sonja a brief lecture earlier about showing gratitude to Lucian for saving her life. When she [[CallingTheOldManOut calls him on it]], he responds that letting Lucian live ''is'' his gratitude... then decides to have Lucian killed anyway as a cautionary tale to any would-be upstarts.
** Selene potentially all but saved Viktor, and the coven, from certain doom by breaking the Chain and making him aware of her concerns. After literally centuries of her UndyingLoyalty to him, Viktor refuses to hear any of it and orders her judged (which would almost certainly result in her death). After Selene acquires undeniable proof for her suspicions, Viktor refuses to absolve her unless she kills Michael, who's totally innocent and only the "enemy" by being turned against his will.
* VillainHasAPoint: Regarding William needing to be stopped. To an extent, preventing the birth of a hybrid could count as well, considering all the trouble that the mere ''possibility'' of creating one ended up causing. Marcus and Maurius do absolutely nothing to prove him wrong after transforming themselves into full-blown hybrids.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Even as late into the series as ''Blood Wars'', Viktor is still remembered in-universe as the oldest and most powerful vampire, despite earlier films having established that this was a lie and that he was a belligerent tyrant who used subterfuge and violent coercion to gain his status and wasn't above killing his kind, even his own ''daughter'', in order to maintain it, all the while claiming he was acting for the [[WellIntentionedExtremist greater good of the Coven]].

The second of the Vampire Elders. Hardly anything is known about her, making her a bit of a FlatCharacter. However, she aided Marcus and Viktor in catching William and sided with Viktor to imprison him forever. She has since been revealed to have been [[spoiler: the lover of Thomas and the mother of his son, David]].

* DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou: Gender-flipped. She leaves her son [[spoiler: David]] in the care of her lover/his father, Thomas, and keeps his existence a tightly-held secret because his life would have otherwise been in danger between the Lycans and the internal power struggle between her fellow Elders. Considering what befell her in the first film, it's a good thing he wasn't with her when that happened.
* EtTuBrute: She aided Viktor in imprisoning William as a result of his rampages, despite Marcus’ wishes.
* HelmetsAreHardlyHeroic: At some point during the investigation of the village in Evolution, she removes her helmet [[spoiler: but after the Lycans begin to turn, never sees the need to put it back on.]] They don't seem to do much, though, so it may be that she preferred the added range of vision.

* MissingMom: ''Blood Wars'' revealed she's [[spoiler: David's]] mother, which eventually makes [[spoiler: him]] the last true heir of the Eastern Coven bloodline and therefore supreme ruler of the vampire council.

* WeHardlyKnewYe: In her first scene in ''Underworld'', she gets [[spoiler: whacked by Lycans]]. She has a slightly larger role in the prologue of ''Evolution'', but is more of a background character until ''Blood Wars'', where, despite being [[spoiler:dead]] she becomes central to the plot due to being revealed as [[spoiler: David's mother]].
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Hinted at with her relationship with the other two elders, between Marcus’s resentment over the other two defying him by keeping William locked away and Viktor’s escalation of the vampire-Lycan feud [[spoiler: Given that she took steps to hide the birth of her son from them]].
* WomenAreWiser: Once the Lycan threat is (believed to be) contained, Amelia focuses her time and energy on expanding the Vampires and establishing new covens in other countries and continents so that they have a better chance of surviving as a species. She seems to have spent her last century reigning from the New World Coven. Unlike Marcus, Amelia is fully aware of the danger that the werewolves pose so she is unwilling to turn a blind eye to William's savagery. Unlike Viktor, Amelia has no interest in engaging in a genocide of the Lycan species and escalating the war between the immortals.

* LadyOfWar: Usually dresses in a feminine manner (even her armour has a feminine touch, being form-fitting to her chest) and can outmatch her father in a sword fight. Also, as the daughter of Elder, she carries the title of 'Lady'.
** As a pureborn, she's implied to have the power, or the potential, to match the Vampire Elders, as Viktor speaks of her sitting as an Elder one day, and Singe compares pureborns to Elders.

* MementoMacGuffin: Her pendant. Viktor gave it to her as a child, with her apparently viewing it as a mere token of his affections (according to the novelisation, she was under the impression it had belonged to her late mother), unaware it's actually one of the keys to William's tomb. Lucian himself takes her pendant to [[TragicKeepsake remind himself of her after her death]].

* PlotTriggeringDeath: Her execution kickstarts the Lycans' centuries-long war with the vampires, and hence the entire plot of the franchise.

* TokenGoodTeammate: To the vampires in the prequel, being the only one who sympathises with the Lycans, views them as people, and tries to help them.

The first thing he does when confronted with one of the wild and feral werewolves is punch the damn thing down. Raze later confesses to Lucian that while he was afraid of the werewolves, he wanted to live that much more.

* NiceGuy: He's one of the nicest vampires in the series.
* SpottingTheThread: He begins to realize Selene may be right about Kraven after Kraven doesn't send his team, but a less trustworthy group led by Soren, to pick up Amelia and the council from the train station, and shortly afterward sends one of his men to investigate.

* UncertainDoom: That the camera cuts away right as his group is ambushed and never goes back to them, so it's not known if they were truly killed or just [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere decided to get while the getting was good]].

* ClingyJealousGirl: Erika is quite eager to be Kraven's lover and is annoyed by his fixation on Selene. However, she remains friendly with Selene and gives up her crush on Kraven in the novel and a deleted scene.
* CuteLittleFangs: She bars her fangs while clinging to the ceiling. And hissing like a deranged cat.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: She poses no threat to humans and is sociable with her fellow vampires.

** She is also quite frightened when realizing Michael was bitten by a Lycan and therefore will become one himself, jumping to the ceiling and hissing at him like a deranged cat when he comes to

* WomanScorned: She eventually turns on Kraven after one too many betrayals even when he can see how she loved him.
* WrongGenreSavvy: She spends most of the movie seemingly believing that she is the female lead of a much lighter GenderFlipped UptownGirl story with Kraven and that sooner or later he'll realize Selene isn't interested in him and give her the time of day. She seems to give up on this after Kraven flees the mansion.

A scientist Lycan, Singe has spent years trying to find the right carrier of the Corvinus strand and is at his wit's end. Lucian delivers him Michael's blood and he is proven a carrier. Singe is sent to help retrieve Michael from the vampires but is captured by Selene and forced to reveal Lucian's plan and Kraven's treachery. After Amelia is killed, Viktor punches him to death.

* AdaptationExpansion: The novelization says that he was an Austrian biochemist suffering from Leukemia who was turned by Lucian. In the film, there is nothing to suggest his origin.

* MrExposition: Provides an info dump, which is vital to the plot of the two original Underworld films, as he is made to explain Lucian's plan to create a hybrid as well as the science fiction background of the vampires and Lycans.

* ReluctantMadScientist: He's a bit tired of doing his experiments but still is a mad scientist by chaining Corvin family members up.

* AwesomeButImpractical: His silver razor-bladed whips. Sure, it’d cause searing pain to a Lycan, but, unfortunately, as his last battle with Raze shows, those blades can get caught in something other than werewolf flesh.
* EnigmaticMinion: Is apparently content to remain Kraven's second with no explanation for this despite being almost as old as Viktor and having had various positions of authority in the coven.

* TheExile: He was kicked out of the coven and sent to live in a remote church that he's fixed up into a sybaritic love nest.

* MrExposition: Well, he is the vampire historian, so he reveals many secret histories to Selene and Michael.
* OhCrap: When Marcus comes for him, he completely freaks out despite the latter's affable demeanor, and given what Marcus does to him, it's not unwarranted.
* PetTheDog: While he only covered up Lucian and Sonja's relationship in the first place in exchange for a bribe (her council seat), even after receiving it, he snuck Sonja into the prison to visit Lucian after his arrest.
* SecretKeeper: He is somewhat self-interested one.l while helping Sonja and Lucian hide their relationship.
* TheSmartGuy: He is the only one besides Marcus and Viktor to know the true history ''and'' designed the weapons that the Lycans unleashed in the first movie.

* WildCard: In the third movie, while mostly an ally of Sonja and Lucian, he does stand by during their trial (although it is unlikely he could have done anything with either words or actions that would have made a difference) and also rescues the elders and their caskets when the Lycans storm the castle.

The third Vampire Elder, and son of Alexander Corvinus. He was bitten by a bat and became the first vampire. With his Lycan brother William out of control, Marcus recruited Viktor, Amelia, and their army to catch his brother, only for Viktor to double-cross him, take control of the vampires, and imprison William forever. In the second film, he is turned into a hybrid and vows to free his brother and rule the world with a new series of hybrids.

* BaitTheDog: As with Viktor before him, Selene holds out hope that this wise vampire elder will wake from his torpor and restore order to the coven. Also like Viktor, among his first on-screen acts is to torture and kill Kraven. And just like Viktor, he himself is the BigBad.

* EvilUncle: To Michael several generations removed, since one of the latter's ancestors was his brother. Specifically, [[spoiler: he kills him, at least temporarily.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: Initially he did want to stop William's rampages and rule peacefully, but Viktor's betrayal of him soured this side of his personality, although he did reign as an Elder for some time without attempting a coup until anyone in the coven who he felt respect or fear for died in Viktor and Lucian's war.
* GeneticMemory: He can see the memories of others by drinking their blood, something which Viktor could also do (and Selene as well, at least as of ''Awakening''). Selene, Kraven, and Andreas Tanis all become victims to his ability.
* GreaterScopeVillain: As the first vampire and the one who passed down its gene to Viktor and the others.

* IHateYouVampireDad: Ended up being betrayed by his own vampire creations.

* ShapeshifterLongevity: Played with; while he's both a thousand-year-old immortal and capable of transforming into a giant batlike monster, he only recently gained the ability to transform as a result of becoming a vampire-lycan hybrid, as (in this setting) vampires don't normally have any shapeshifting powers.

* VillainHasAPoint: He was right about William not attacking him, even in his feral state. He also had a point about how his Father did not accept his sons as they were, which was also pointed out by Selene, for different reasons of course. (Selene pointed out that Alexander did not stop his sons when they became MonsterProgenitors, Marcus pointed out how he left William imprisoned or when William was on the rampage and didn't try to help him)

* TheDragon: For Marcus after he's freed. He keeps Michael from helping Selene as she faces Marcus in the climax.

* ItCanThink: Selene notes in the novelization that William must be more cunning than Viktor gave him credit for, since he was able to evade capture from an army of death dealers for six hundred years, led by Viktor himself nonetheless. Alexander Corvinus became the first true immortal after his village was ravaged by a plague which he was able to mold into what gave him his immortality. He then fathered three sons, Marcus, William, and a third son. Marcus and William were bitten by a bat and a wolf, becoming the first vampire and werewolf, leading to the rest of the events in the films. The third son remained human but carried the Corvinus Gene that would later lead to Lucian's quest to find a descendant who could adapt to vampire and Lycan blood.

* BigGood: He has safeguarded mankind from the Vampire-Lycan war and minimized the damage caused by it. In addition, [[spoiler: his blood gives Selene the necessary strength to defeat the BigBad at the end]].

* CoolBoat: His roaming headquarters is a merchant vessel that's been thoroughly upgraded with all the latest tech. Also, awesome gothic decoration.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler: After giving Selene his blood so she can take down Marcus and William, he blows himself up with a bomb because he could not bear the pain of knowing he was about to lose his sons.]]
* GoBackToTheSource: Selene and Michael visit Alexander, as does Marcus shortly after.
* InformedAbility: In a world where, as long as hybrids are not mentioned, the rule is that the oldest you are, the strongest you get, Alexander Corvinus is many times stated as the strongest immortal. Too bad that the only character he faces is his son, therefore he doesn't fight back [[spoiler:even when Marcus [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice fatally stabs him]]]].

* SoleSurvivor: Of a 5th-century plague that decimated his village. Instead of killing him, his genetics mutated the disease into turning him immortal.

* WorldsStrongestMan: As the first and oldest of the Immortals, it is implied that he is the most powerful character in the series. While we never see him in combat, Selene outright says that Alexander is the only one who can beat Marcus in a direct fight.

* BearerOfBadNews: He's the one to report that Marcus has woken up and burned down The Elders mansion.

* NumberTwo: He seems to be Alexander's second in command and has authority over his men in the field.

* HeroicSeductress: She is used by Sonja to lure away the guards to the Lycans dungeon at one point with the promise of sex while Sonja goes to see Lucian.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The movie novelization has her caught in the crossfire along with the rest of the vampires when the Lycans attack the castle but in the movie and graphic novel it's questionable if she was even there at the time after they'd executed her mistress and she'd left the castle to tell Lucian of their intentions.
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: Despite apparently not appearing to like Lucian much, she goes to warn him about Sonja's arrest and Viktor's knowledge of their affair when it would have been easy to do nothing. Whether she does this to give Lucian a warning to keep him safer, or out of hope that he can rescue Sonja is unclear, but either way she would have likely been killed by the coven if they'd found out what she was doing.

A senior member of the vampire council concerned about Viktor's mismanagement.

* MouthOfSauron: He's an ally of Marcus, according to the novel, and protects his interests while Marcus is slumbering.

* PetTheDog: He suggests promoting Lucian to the role of overseer and giving some of the Lycan slaves more freedom and better treatment in exchange for getting them to protect the humans against the feral werewolves during the day.
* UngratefulBastard: Invoked when Sonja accuses him and the other councilors of ignoring all the times she's saved the coven during her trial and Coloman counters that nonetheless she has provided aid to its enemies and killed fellow vampires.

* FantasticRacism: showing that this can go both ways, they're reluctant to trust the aid provided by vampire Sonja, although given what they've been through, it's not too unreasonable.

* TookALevelInBadass: Both of them, when it comes from serving the vampires to fighting them.

David's father and ersatz Elder of the surviving Western Coven vampires following the deaths of Amelia, Viktor, and Marcus. Unlike his son, he feels that continuing to fight will only hasten the demise of their species and favors hiding out until things blow over. Roughly 20 years before the events of ''Underworld'', he became the lover of [[spoiler: the vampire Elder, Amelia]], resulting in David's birth, but was forced to break off the relationship and go into hiding for David's safety.

* CoolOldGuy: In ''Blood Wars'', he has mellowed out somewhat, is more open to David's way of thinking, and become a lot fonder of Selene due to her saving David's life in the previous film, even personally going against the Council to offer her amnesty within the Coven. Oh, and he's shown to be a badass with a sword.
* {{Foil}}: To Viktor of all vampires. Despite being an {{Expy}} of the deceased Elder, Thomas is more reasonable by comparison and genuinely acts for the good of the vampires in his charge, his son included, rather than his own interests. Also, he would rather lay low when the odds become overwhelming while Viktor never backed down from a fight.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: He does all he can to keep what's left of the Western Coven safe, including handing over an innocent 12 year old ill girl to the people seeking her whilst knowing that doing so will be a death warrant for said girl.

The first human since Michael to become a prominent character in the films. A police detective who pities the vampires and Lycans, Sebastian teams up with Selene to take down Antigen to save Eve and avenge his dead vampire wife.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: He comes off as one, wanting to protect humanity from Lycans and vampires. [[spoiler: Turns out he's a Lycan, and what he wants is to wipe out vampires and have Lycans become dominant.]]

* HealingFactor: A pretty powerful one. His wounds heal almost instantly. Selen uses this against him by shoving a grenade into his body and his wounds heal too quickly for him to dig it out.

One of the leaders of the Eastern Coven, who plots to take over the coven and make herself a Hybrid.

* {{Hypocrite}}: She kills [[spoiler: Alexia]] for her betrayal against their kind, (which ultimately does lead to many vampires being slaughtered), but she has no qualms about [[spoiler: ordering the death of at least two dozen unsuspecting Death Dealers-in-training]], or murdering [[spoiler: Thomas and attempting to do the same to David]], to further her own ends.

* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler: Her fascination at successfully hybridizing herself distracts her long enough for David to blindside her with a sword through the back of the head after she killed his father, Thomas, in the same manner. Said sword was originally [[LaserGuidedKarma owned by Thomas]].]]

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Her poor treatment of Varga [[spoiler: leads him to betray her to help the protagonists]], whilst her earlier attempt to kill Selene and David forces them to seek out the Nordic Coven for protection [[spoiler: allowing David to learn of his true heritage as Amelia's son and heir, and return with proof to challenge her for control of the covens]].

* PayEvilUntoEvil: She [[spoiler: kills Alexia for her betrayal]] while trying to wrest control of the Coven for herself via subterfuge and hybridizing herself.

* BadBoss: The guy at one point uses one of his comrades as a human (or rather, Lycan) shield. Since he's immune to silver bullets anyway, he got that man killed needlessly. [[PlayingWith On the other hand]], most of his troops seem to look up to and respect him, he gives them encouragement and he lets another {{Mook}} live despite repeated failures, though he does [[MeanBoss smack him about a bit]].

* {{Foil}}: To Lucian and Michael. They're all Lycans who take vampire lovers, but he's the only one who is truly villainous whereas Lucian only wanted freedom for his species and Michael simply wished to be left in peace. Also, Lucian actively pursues vengeance for Sonja's death whereas Marius is seeking revenge for Alexia, but doesn't openly state it.

* WouldHurtAChild: He seeks to use Eve's blood to make himself more powerful. Played with in that he does tell Selene he won't actually kill Eve, though it's unclear if he's being honest and Selene certainly doesn't believe him.

The lead Death Dealer of the Eastern Coven and ally to Semira.

* TheDragon: To Semira. [[spoiler: He jumps ship the moment he learns David is the rightful heir to the Eastern Coven, due in no small part to Semira's [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal crappy treatment]] of him]].

They're both pretty boy types directly serving higher vampires, but while Kraven openly plots to do away with Viktor and take control of the coven, Varga is loyal to the coven and, more specifically, to its rightful ruler; when this is revealed to be David, he promptly turns against Semira, but it wasn't premeditated.
* HeelFaceTurn: After learning that [[spoiler: David]] is the rightful heir to the Eastern Coven, he [[spoiler: turns on Semira and devotes himself to David]].

* PoisonedWeapons: He has a dagger laced with nightshade, which kills lesser vampires and paralyzes stronger ones.

A Death Dealer in the Eastern Coven, who is secretly [[spoiler: Marius's lover and spy]].

* {{Foil}}: To Selene (and by extension, to Sonja). They're all Death Dealers or high-ranking vampires who [[spoiler:fall in love with Lycans and ultimately betray their covens]]. However, whilst Selene only turned on Viktor after he betrayed her first and flees with Michael and Sonja only fought her fellow vampires to protect Lucian and her unborn child, Alexia [[spoiler:actively helps the Lycans to invade the coven and doesn't seem to care that her former comrades are probably going to be slaughtered]], making her far less sympathetic. Sure enough, she gets RewardedAsATraitorDeserves.

* InterspeciesRomance: With [[spoiler: Marius]] to an extent, seeing as [[spoiler: Lycans and vampires are viewed as separate species, but are technically humans infected by different strains of a virus]].
