* BreakoutCharacter: To explain, ''Ultimate Spider-Man'' was originally just supposed to be a mini-series; a modern reinterpretation of the Spider-Man Origin. Similar to ''ComicBook/SpiderGirl'', sales were so phenomenal that Marvel decided to create an entire new universe. For a while as well, sales of ''Ultimate Spider-Man'' completely '''eclipsed''' the sales of Amazing Spider-Man (the actual Flagship Title.)

* TheOneThatGotAway: Before Gwen Stacey was apparently killed, Flash kept trying to ask Peter Parker if she might have been interested. When MJ finally stood up and demanded he know why Flash was being so callous about Gwen's death (after starting a fight with him over it that got them landed in detention) Flash clammed up completely and MJ realised that he'd actually liked her, although he became angry and defensive when she called him on it and stormed out.

* FormerBigot: For much of the series she was very much disturbed by mutants, trying to avoid Johnny when his PowerIncontinence outed him having superpowers (even though he isn't a mutant) and is arguably the most hostile towards Kitty when she becomes her classmate. She ends up getting a reality check when she discovered that not only was ''she'' a mutant, but that [[NiceGuy the nicest guy she knew]] Peter Parker had powers and was using them to save people. This puts things into perspective for her and she decides to join the X-Men - arguably the most famous mutant group out there - to get a grip on her new abilities and identity.

* AdaptationalVillainy: 616 Eddie did start off as a disgraced journalist who blames Spider-Man for the loss of his job (as he was the one who revealed the Sin-Eater's true identity, and Eddie was just misinformed by a hoax email), and when he became Venom he did do ''everything in his power'' to try to destroy Peter's life and loved ones...and then it just decreased to just killing Peter himself...and then they just called it a truce and thus Venom turned into an AntiHero, moving on to kill criminals in San Francisco. 1610 Eddie is, put simply, ''[[HateSink none of that.]]'' As Eddie, he is a perverted, self-serving and consistently lying jackass who would later go on to become utterly obsessed with the Suit, going after Aunt May just because "it chose [Peter] over [him]" during the ''War of the Symbiotes'' arc. As Venom, he is a violent AxCrazy beast who seeks to devour everything in sight, showing no signs of relent, and is especially violent toward Peter himself - a ''major'' contrast to 616 Venom's far more collected, cunning [[BlackComedy and even hilarious]] personality.

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalJerkass: To a ''much'' lesser extent than pretty much anyone else in the Ultimate Marvel universe, to the point where he's one of the ''very'' few truly good and decent heroes in the Ultimate universe. He does have ''some'' moments of this, however, especially early on in the series before the ComesGreatResponsibility lesson truly sinks in.

* HowDoIShotWeb: Mutant powers don't come with an instruction manual, but she pretty quickly gets the hang of flying. And the whole point of joining the X-Men is to learn how to control her powers.
* JumpedAtTheCall: While she's not big on Mutants, and the circumstances around her powers awakening aren't great, she's totally on-board with joining the X-Men mainly because flying is awesome. And she doesn't have to go to school anymore.
