* PlanesTrainsAndImbeciles: Bulgy invokes this trope, as he hates the railways. In his debut episode, he has a big "Railway Bus" placard placed on his side and then refuses to accept passengers' return tickets in order to make the railway look bad. It comes back to bite him when he gets stuck under a railway bridge; the trains take his passengers off his hands, and he ends up in a field, turned into a henhouse. Even after he is repaired in "Bulgy Rides Again", he still tends to cause this, with his first return run ruined by the passengers being harassed by chickens still inside his compartment, and another in "Free the Roads" where he overfills and breaks down as a result of taking all the railway's ''and'' Bertie's passengers (as Bertie had also overfilled and broke down).

His TV counterpart is a more genuine troublemaker, with a scenario from his debut story left ambiguous in the book firmly placing him as the culprit here, and he later goes on to pave over a level crossing and hold up Duck knowing full well of the accidents that will result.
