!!Main Characters

[[folder:Apollo/Lester Papadopoulos]]

God of the sun, medicine, music, poetry, archery, and more he can't be bothered to remember. Turned mortal after angering his father Zeus and our POV character this go-round.

* AGodIAmNot: [[spoiler:By the end of the Hidden Oracle, he says that he does not want to be Apollo at the moment, because he blames himself (as Apollo) for everything that has happened at Camp so far in the book.]]
* AscendedExtra: Goes from being a side character to a main character.
* AlwaysSecondBest: In healing. Unusually for an Olympian, he's fine with not only his immortal son, Asclepius, but also his demigod son, Will, being more skilled than him.
* AmnesiacGod: Downplayed. He knows who he is and what landed him on earth, but the human brain he's stuck with just can't hold over four thousand years of memories, which leads to some frustrating lapses. He also has no idea where he's been for the past six months.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: After angsting about his new human body for a while, he realizes that he has the body of a completely average mortal teenager, as that is what he is ''supposed to be''.
* BiTheWay: He's pretty casual about being attracted to both girls and boys, at one point saying he's undecided about whether he wants to seduce a girl away from her boyfriend... or seduce that same boyfriend away from the girl.
* BreakTheHaughty: The book is basically one long session in this forcing him to really look at himself and realize what an awful jerk he was.
* BrownNote: Not intentionally, but he off-handedly mentions that when he's going all out, people are so elated by his music that they ''[[StuffBlowingUp explode]]''.
* CharacterDevelopment: In spades.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Though it's less noticeable than most cases [[ItMakesSenseInContext since the story is told from his perspective]], sometimes he acts in ways that seem strange to outsiders (ex waving a jacket around and yelling "Blowfish", or trying to give Meg TheTalk in the middle of a conversation).
* ComboPlatterPowers: Archery, music, medicine, plague, the sun... His career as a god has been varied.
* DotingParent: For an Olympian. He admits that it took him seventy-five years to notice his son Louis XIV had died, but he found when he went to check on him during UsefulNotes/TheFrenchRevolution. He also expresses pride in his son Asclepius, for being a better healer than him (which is a lot considering the gods tend to vaporize anyone that is particularly better than them) and saying that all gods want a doctor for a son, and he is lavish with praise for Will, Kayla, and Austin.
** As part of his CharacterDevelopment he guiltily realizes he like most gods mostly ignored them in the past and dotes in order to be better.
* ExpectingSomeoneTaller: To himself, after seeing his new mortal body.
* EtTuBrute: Well, his constant complaining to Zeus and the rest of the Olympians may account as a very mild example, but a more straight example is when [[spoiler: Meg's adoptive father is revealed to be Nero, a descendant of his. He...doesn't take this well.]]
* GodInHumanForm: [[BlameGame Courtesy]] [[JerkassGods of]] [[NeverMyFault Zeus]].
* HaveYouSeenMyGod: By the start of the first book, he's been missing six months.
* HeartbrokenBadass: He hallucinates many times about his two greatest loves, Daphne and Hyacinthus. He is shown to [[spoiler:blame himself for their deaths and [[TearJerker asks the hallucinations for forgiveness, and not to leave him again]].]]
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Quite literally. Apollo goes from a divine warrior with nigh unlimited strength to a weak teenager stuck in a dumpster.
--> "I'm not lord of anything!" I wailed. "I'm a stupid ugly mortal teenager! I'm ''nobody''!
* HumanityEnsues: Much to his dismay.
* ItsAllAboutMe: At the beginning of the first book. He gets better.
* JustWokeUpThatWay: When he first comes to, he's falling to Manhattan in human form.
* KillTheOnesYouLove: He did this to [[spoiler: Commodus]] when the latter went truly insane.
* MeaningfulName: Say what you will about "Papadopoulos," it's currently the single most common name in Greece. Which, y'know, kinda fits for a ex-Greek God.
* MortalityEnsues: "Hey, I'm just stating the obvious. If this ''is'' Apollo, and he dies, we're all in trouble."
--> [[spoiler:My smile faded. I reminded myself I was no longer a spectator. These ants could kill us. Easily.]]
* {{Narcissist}}: Apollo regards himself as perfect that he should come first no matter the circumstances. This is to the point of self-delusion where he thinks others automatically like him and he remembers doing more for them than he actually did while forgetting why they would be mad at him and misremembering events so he looks better. His banishment is supposed to help him grow out of it.
* PapaWolf: He was ready to declare war when [[spoiler:Nero kidnapped Austin and Kayla]]. He also mentions killing the Cyclopes who created the lightning bolt that killed one of his children.
* PleaseDontLeaveMe: Says this while talking to hyacinths, which symbolize Hyacinthus, who he just saw in a dream. [[spoiler:The hyacinths weren't there before.]]
* ReallyGetsAround: As in the source material he used to be this, though this is toned down in the series proper because [[TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody his teenage body automatically gets awkward and insecure around anyone attractive]].
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld
* RunningGag: Doesn't like being called "man". So naturally, Percy goes with this one. When that seems to be gone for good, ''[[NewAgeRetroHippie Rhea]]'' comes up and continues the gag.
* SelfMadeMyth: Apollo acknowledges that he did not defeat Python as easily as the myths portray, and he had nightmares about Python for ''centuries'' afterwards. The reason the myths portray the battle as such is mainly because that is the version he told the storytellers.
* WasItAllALie: Pretty much his response to [[spoiler: discovering the reason why Meg befriended him in the first place.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Meg [=McCaffrey=]]]

A demigod daughter of Demeter, whom Apollo must serve.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Prefers not to be called "Margaret."
* {{Familiar}}: Meg has the rare ability to control karpoi, specifically one she calls Peaches.
* DualWielding: Meg can summons two scythes to do battle, and does so quite effectively for an untrained Half-Blood.
* GreenThumb: As the first major child of Demeter, Meg can commune with plants and summon agrarian monsters like Peaches to help her do battle.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Meg is introduced using her powers to pummel two thugs with a rotting apple.
* LittleMissBadass: She's no more than 12 years old, yet she kicks an Ares cabin member in the crotch, fights off two street thugs in an alley with nothing but garbage, and can fight giant ants despite being afraid of bugs.
** Apollo notes she's higher caliber than most of Demeter's offspring being able to summon a karpoi.
* MoodSwinger: Meg's normally extremely high energy and can even be a pest, but she'll shut down immediately if she gets uncomfortable or is forced to remember the lesser parts of her past.
* MoreThanMindControl: A particularly horrific case is employed on her by the Beast. Meg is terrified of him from her previous encounters on the streets of New York, [[spoiler:and Nero convinces her the Beast is an entirely different person from him, leaving her both terrified and completely loyal to her abuser.]]
* PokemonSpeak: Meg's karpoi only repeats his own name; Percy describes it as "Groot speak."
* StreetUrchin: Meg spends most of her time wandering the streets rather than sticking to one place to attract monsters.
* WickedStepmother: Only it's [[spoiler: her step''father'']].
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Fittingly, bugs petrify Meg and she's not pleased to hear of the giant ants roaming Camp Half-Blood's woods.
[[/folder]]

!!Triumvirate Holdings

[[folder:General]]
The corporate mastermind behind many events in the Camp's (and world's) history. The three heads of the company are lso known as the ''imperators''.
* AGodAmI: Even without thrones on Olympus, the members of the Triumvirate see themselves as equals to the gods.
* ArcWelding: Apparently Triumvirate Holdings funded the Titans' attack on New York and the Giants' rise against Olympus.
* BigBad: Apparently the ''biggest'' bad of the series and the previous ones.
* TheCaligula: The heads of the Triumvirate seek their own advancement, even if it means funding a war on the streets of New York or leveling Long Island.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: A whole group of them - unlike previous villains, these men are threatening because of their absurd capital rather than their magical strength.
* GodsNeedPrayerBadly: The three heads survived centuries after they should have died due to the exaggerated legends surrounding them. [[spoiler:This is notable because they are merely humans who claimed to be gods.]]
* GreaterScopeVillain: For the two preceding series, as they funded the previous villains without involving themselves.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: The heads of Triumvirate Holdings are genocidal conspirators plotting to take over the world, an evil way beyond the scale of [[spoiler:the Roman Emperors.]]
* TheMan: Rhea explicitly compares there influence to this concept, and they use every venue open to capitalists to gain power.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Beast]]

The first named member of the Triumvirate and the main antagonist of ''The Hidden Oracle''.

* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:To Meg, after killing her real father.]]
* WhileRomeBurns: DiscussedTrope, [[spoiler: concerning the TropeNamer no less]], just as the beast unveils his plans, [[spoiler:he points out that he never fiddled while Rome burned and tried to stop the fire, but Apollo notes he used the opportunity to built a palace atop the burned neighborhoods.]]
* EvilCounterpart: The Beast has many of Apollo's characteristics: arrogance, fantastic oration, a need for worship, and an ignorance to the plight of others. The main difference is that Apollo develops to sympathize with humans while the Beast never changes.
* FlunkyBoss: The Beast prefers to be flanked by his ''Germani'' rather than fight alone.
* HiddenVillain: The Beast is remains in the shadows for most of ''The Hidden Oracle'' and its only in the final chapters of the book is his identity revealed; [[spoiler:The Beast is Emperor Nero.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: The Beast intentionally endangers Apollo's children to manipulate the former god.
* TheMole: The Beast has managed to plant a demigod in Camp Half-Blood who answers to him. [[spoiler:It turns out to be Meg.]]
* PyroManiac: The Beast first appears in a volcano, and seems to use arson as his signature weapon.
* VillainExitStageLeft: The Beast manages to escape in the confusion of the climax.
* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: [[spoiler: Makes Meg believe that there is a difference between her stepfather and "the Beast," and the Beast only comes out to harm her when she displeases him, thus making her believe it's her fault.]]
[[/folder]]

!!Cabin Seven

Home at Camp Half-Blood for Apollo's demigod children. They quickly accept their father's... predicament and are determined to be there for him.

[[folder:Will Solace]]

Son of Apollo and alt-country singer Naomi Solace. Head counselor for Apollo Cabin and returning character from the previous two series, Will is the best healer in camp, easy-going and dutiful.

* AscendedExtra: Very minor character in the previous series, he gets a little more focus here.
* BadassGay: Will is head of the Apollo cabin, a powerful healer, and has a steady romantic relationship with Nico di Angelo.
* NervesOfSteel: By necessity. As head counselor, he tries to keep his siblings calm.
* NiceGuy: Will manages to keep his cool under all types of tight situations, never losing his cool with Apollo.
* NoBadassToHisValet: Will being the valet; he's not afraid of either his formerly-divine dad or his scary powerful boyfriend if he thinks they're being stupid.
** This goes back to last series where not only did he tell Nico off when they ran into each other but before that kept [[BloodKnight Clarisse la Rue]] from escalating a situation.
* NonActionGuy: While it's likely he's had ''some'' combat training given the setting, he's much more useful as a healer and tends to stay on the sidelines when possible.
* OfficialCouple: with Nico di Angelo.
* StraightGay: Presumably, unless he's bi, but he's only shown interest in Nico and Paolo so far.
* TeamDad: To his cabin mates. Gets kind of awkward when their actual dad is present.
* TheMedic: He runs Camp Half-Blood's infirmary for a reason. Apollo admits that Will is the better healer between them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kayla Knowles]]

Daughter of Apollo and archery coach, Darren Knowles. Kayla is the archery instructor at Camp Half-Blood.

* AscendedExtra: Even more minor than Will-- Will at least had dialogue occasionally. Pre-this series, she is mentioned once in ''The Last Olympian'', and...that's it.
* CanadaEh: Her mortal father, Darren, is Canadian, making her the second Canadian to appear in the series after [[{{Literature/TheHeroesOfOlympus}} Frank Zhang]].
* HasTwoMommies: Or, in her case, two daddies.
* HomosexualReproduction: She is the biological child of Apollo and Darren Knowles. Apollo was a god, so regular reproductive laws might not apply.
* SkewedPriorities: Seems more concerned with Apollo's mortality possibly costing her abilities, making her unable to try out for the Olympics.
* TheStraightAndArrowPath: She leads Apollo's archery class and is shocked by his ridiculous standards for his own archery skills.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Austin Lake]]

Son of Apollo and Latricia Lake, a music theory teacher. His main gift inherited from his father is skill with music, and he'll apparently challenge himself with other instruments.

* AscendedExtra: See Kayla above.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: Threatens to curse people to speak in rhyming couplets.
* InstantWebHit: His last music video got 500,000 views in a week.
* SkewedPriorities: Shares this with Kayla. Wants to keep his videos up.
[[/folder]]

!!Other Demigods

[[folder:Percy Jackson]]

Son of Poseidon and Sally Jackson, hero of the last two series. He does not want to be here.

* BackForTheFinale: [[spoiler:Shows up at the final battle against Nero's Colossus just because he can]].
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: Shows up at the end to visit Apollo and Meg for the weekend, only to find himself on a battlefield.]]
* ChekhovsGun: Says that he's going to visit Apollo and Meg on the weekend if he can. [[spoiler: He gives his word.]]
* DemotedToExtra: Percy goes from being a main protagonist in the last two series to being a supporting role for Apollo's journey. This is Invoked, as Percy's trying to catch up with his studies.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Not normal as in "mortal", but he has had enough big adventures and wants to settle down for a while, since he has not only gotten a girlfriend and a college; he gets to have a baby sister, too.
* ImNotDoingThatAgain: He shows up at the beginning and the end to help, but otherwise he really doesn't want to get involved and wants to get his normal life on track.
* RealityEnsues: Having been missing for over half a year. Percy had a lot to catch up in the mortal world, as a result he is absent for most of the story.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nico di Angelo]]

Son of Hades and Maria di Angelo, a returning character from ''Literature/PercyJacksonAndTheOlympians'' and ''Literature/TheHeroesOfOlympus.''

* AngerBornOfWorry: The one most furious when Leo doesn't immediately return after his resurrection. As he puts it, he doesn't like being kept in the dark. So when Leo comes home, Nico ''creates a line for everyone to punch him''.
* CharacterDevelopment: After the events of the previous series, Nico is much more comfortable with his homosexuality, to the point where he had come out of the closet to those in Camp Half-Blood and entered a steady relationship with Will Solace. He doesn't like it when he is referred to as Will's boyfriend, though.
* DeadpanSnarker: Particularly towards Will, but really, no one is safe.
* HeroicRROD: He seems to be still recovering from the near fatal overuse of powers from last series and collapses after shadow-traveling.
* OfficialCouple: With Will Solace.
* PassThePopcorn: Has everyone who wants to punch Leo takes a number.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed.]] He may not be the poster child for happiness, but he's noticeably more lighthearted and less grouchy than in the [[TheHeroesOfOlympus previous]] [[PercyJacksonAndTheOlympians two series]]. He even smiles on occasion!
* {{Tsundere}}: He comes off like this in some of his [[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple interactions]] with Will.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Leo Valdez]]

Son of Hephaestus and brilliant mechanic Esperanza Valdez, and returning character from ''Literature/TheHeroesOfOlympus''.

* BackFromTheDead: To everyone's relief and fury.
* GentlemanAndAScholar: Apollo praises him as a "gentleman and a genius," for not only being willing to assist in his trials, but for also inventing the Valdezinator, the musical instrument Leo traded Apollo in exchange for his help with the physician's cure.
* OfficialCouple: With Calypso.
* OutOfFocus: Leo spends the whole of the first book returning to Camp Half-Blood before returning to prominence.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Paolo Montes]]

Son of Hebe

* GoodThingYouCanHeal: Or, in this case, adjust to having reattached limbs.
* InformedAttractiveness: When he's not bleeding out from dismemberment, according to Apollo.
* LanguageBarrier: Claims to be able to understand English fluently, but only speaks Portuguese, which none of the others understand, except apparently Nico.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Harley]]

8-year-old son of Hephaestus

* DeathCourse: Designed one for the campers to complete.
* {{Determinator}}: See IWillFindYou below.
* [[GenkiGirl Genki Guy]]: One thing that Apollo notices about him all the time is that he jumps up and down ''constantly''. [[spoiler: He obviously doesn't do it when the Three-Legged Race goes into disarray.]]
* TheHeart: Apollo notes that it's just take one look at Harley to find why anyone would even bother to do all his games: he's just too damn cute, adorable, and happiness-bringing.
* IWillFindYou: He is quite adamant on using his beacon to call to Festus, even after six months of Leo being missing.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler: When Austin and Kayla went missing during the race, he breaks down and starts to blame himself.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:After finding out Kayla and Austin went missing during his death race.]]
* NightmareFetishist: Seems rather excited at the prospect of people dying during his death course through the reformed Labyrinth. Subverted later when [[spoiler: two campers actually do go missing during the race]].
[[/folder]]

!!Gods
[[folder:Rhea]]

The Mother Goddess, Rhea is the Titaness wife of Kronos and the mother of the elder six of the Olympians: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Demeter, plus Hades and Hestia. She presides over motherhood as well as an oracle.

* AnachronismStew: More so than most of the other gods, Rhea seems to confuse different time periods, insisting Music/JimiHendrix attended the Seneca Falls convention with her.
* AscendedExtra: Rhea is mentioned as far back as the first book of the first series, ''The Lightning Thief'', though it was during an insult battle between Zeus and Poseidon. She gains far, far more prominence here.
* NewAgeRetroHippie: Rhea's vernacular and fashion take cues from hippies, highlighting her rejection of Titan culture.
-->'''Rhea:''' TheMan, man. Big Brother. The suits. The imperators.
* SophisticatedAsHell: Rhea's ominous warnings about the rise of the Triumvirate is mixed in casual slang from the sixties.
* TimeAbyss: Rhea's creation, the Groves of Dodona, was ancient even before the birth of Olympus, and she was alive even before that.
* VerbalTic: Man.
[[/folder]]

!!Others

[[folder:Daphne]]
One of Apollo's great two loves.

* TheLostLenore: One of two for Apollo.
* PosthumousCharacter
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hyacinthus]]
One of Apollo's great two loves.

* TheLostLenore: One of two for Apollo.
* PosthumousCharacter
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Calypso]]

Daughter of Atlas, she was punished after the first Titan War by being imprisoned on the island Ogygia, where she was occasionally visited by demigods who couldn't leave until she fell in love with them. The most recent of these was Leo Valdez, who has rescued her.

* AmicableExes: Not that they have ever actually formed a relationship, but she is very civil to Percy here, even when she flat-out ''hates'' him in the previous series. She even manages to give him a peck to the cheek as a parting gift. Towards Apollo, on other hand...
** Justified, as Percy ''did'' petition for Calypso's release, and Leo probably told her how Percy felt guilty for not doing enough to help her.
* AscendedExtra: She's officially joining Apollo's Trial Team at the end of the first book. Compare to her previous two appearances, where she serves only in romantic sidequests.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Leaving Ogygia caused her to lose her immortality and magical powers.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: Once, she's the December to Leo's Mayfly. [[BroughtDownToNormal But not anymore.]]
* NoodleIncident: Apollo once tried to prevent her petition to get an early release from Ogygia because of...some drama. She presently doesn't like him because of this, among other reasons.
* OfficialCouple: With Leo.
* Really700YearsOld: Several millennia old. Though she does lose her immortality permanently.

* AscendedExtra: See Kayla above.

* OfficialCouple: With Will Solace.

* OfficialCouple: With Calypso.

* {{Determinator}}: See IWillFindYou below.

* VerbalTic: Man.

* OfficialCouple: With Leo.
* Really700YearsOld: Several millennia old. Though she does lose her immortality permanently.
