* CannotTellAJoke: his defining trait is that he's severely unfunny, to the point that the cartoon has phoned in laughter when he speaks, just to emphasize.

* AFatherToHisMen: a Literal version with Clem, who he reads bedtime stories to when they're about to got to sleep. aside from that, he actually treats his men well enough.

* ShoutOut: to 60's Batman of all things. One episode had a cowboy villain named Shame, who eventually got a man dressed as a Mexican desperado with a British accent as a flunky, similar to Ian's portrayal.

* UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist: While Shnookums is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold, he is usually an InsufferableImbecile who is quite selfish and an unlikable protagonist who is TheChewToy for a reason.

* CatsAreMean: Of the InsufferableImbecile category with being a total {{Jerkass}} that is an obvious {{Expy}} of [[{{WesternAnimation/TheRenAndStimpyShow}} Ren]] who is {slightly smarter than Meat, [[CuckooSnarker sassy]] and more condescending than Meat, but still lacking in sincere manners most of the time and can be quite mean-spirited to [[DumbMuscle Meat]] at times.

* NoRespectGuy: He's ''HATED'' the superhero convention because he's a comparative joke to everyone else. They deliberately tossed his name tag in the garbage for crying out loud.

You Too!" episode, when Shnookums pressures Meat with his impulse on protecting the house, he lambastes how Meat is one of those worthless, dumb dogs that are always dumber than cats (when [[{{Hypocrite}} Shnookums isn't any better]]), Meat gets [[TenderTears very sad because of this]] and then finds a way to make himself [[DumbassNoMore smarter]], this worked until [[ButtMonkey he was still unlucky]] with going against [[TheFool Shnookums]] fighting back.

** In the "I.Q. You Too!" episode, when Shnookums pressures Meat with his impulse on protecting the house, he lambastes how Meat is one of those worthless, dumb dogs that are always dumber than cats (when [[Hypocrite Shnookums isn't any better]]), Meat gets [[TenderTears very sad because of this]] and then finds a way to make himself smarter, this worked until he was still unlucky with going against [[TheFool Shnookums]] fighting back.

* NobodysThatDumb: While Meat is [[TooDumbToLive incredibly dumb,]] the part from the episode "Night of The Living Shnookums" showed how he does realize how Shnookums was scaring Meat with making him think that he was dead and can back as a zombie, this was when he saw Shnookums taking off his mask when climbing up the chandelier as his next prank through a keyhole and Meat deliberately pretends to be oblivious about him being gone to then give [[AssholeVictim Shnookums]] his comeuppance to that prank. But the ending showed how unlucky he was with trying to teach Shnookums a lesson with getting carried away on his pranks and got shoved into a lake off of a bridge by Shnookums, he then returns to haunt Shnookums because of this.

* SimpletonVoice: Had a voice that is similar to Ralph the Guard from ''{{WesternAnimation/Animaniacs}}'' in the ''"Kung-Fu-Kitty"'' episode but now an more deeper and gruffer voice to empathize his dimwitted persona.
